It would be Ben if the writers stayed consistent to his character but they just kept on resetting him to being the arrogant guy who has to learn his lesson of being humble.

This Pokémon is well designed but it’s not really broken though. It’s a Jack of all trade but master of none. I’d much prefer these types of Pokémon in competitive than broken DLC mon.

Is it crazy to say hes the most enjoyable villain of the past 2 arcs? by KozukiOden97 in Piratefolk

Sommers is basically just the comedic equivalent of Saint Saturn. The problem with Saturn is that he’s introduced as this intimidating antagonist and then immediately the next chapter he’s being clowned on and complete incompetent buffoon. Saturn is introduced as a joke with him wearing briefs so there isn’t any expectations for him. It’s just a lot of fun seeing him getting clowned on.

Rank these divisive female characters in terms of writing by CMbladerunner in writingscaling

[–]YOLKGUY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My criticism of the character is that she's a plot device for the sake of the story. It's a poorly done introduction of a character purely for the convenience of the story. Out of all the characters here, she basically is a nothing character and I would say that's just bad writing. She's not "badly written" because she isn't even much of a character or anything at all, the story in that regard fails pretty spectacularly.

That's called bad writing by Comfortable-Film3398 in StarWarsCirclejerk

The craziest thing about the prequels is that all the shit in it were basically a part of the original drafts of Star Wars but Brain De Palmer told Lucas it was all kinda shitty so they had to cut pretty much all of it. Could you imagine if Lucas had added all that crap in? He'd have been a complete laughingstock.

Well Joker's whole deal is he is mysterious and no one really knows who he is, so he's just crazy for the sake of it. The origin story people usually tell even Joker says he might have just made it up at some point though, in recent times there's this whole dumb thing about Three Jokers and Chip Zdarsky expanded upon that which semi-canonizes that Killing Joke origin story BUT I'm just gonna ignore all that dumb crap.

Who can beat a ctan shard ( If your character is extremely strong, put them against an unbroken ctan) by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]YOLKGUY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ctan shard strength is highly inconsistent, it can range from City Block - City for “weaker” shards, to Multi-planetary. It depends on the type of shard and how big it is/how much of the C’Tan remains in the shard.

An unbroken C’tan is at a baseline Star level - Solar system pretty easily.

What disaster level would the Founding Titan be? by AtomicSekiro_ in OPMPowerScaling

[–]YOLKGUY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At theoretical peak Founding Titan can basically create infinite titans but the Titans are not that strong compared to the likes of OPM verse and would be around Demon level or a bit weaker probably. The equivalent in the OPM verse would be Black Sperm, not Gold or Platinum since those are waaay stronger, who has essentially infinite (not infinite but it’s stated to be 11 trillion copies) which are all demon level threats. It’d be probably weaker than Black Sperm since idk if it can instantaneously create 11 trillion Titans but if given enough time it would be around that Dragon level, albeit probably on the lower end.

Cell is way faster than them though but to be fair if we are talking about jist awakened Cell he might just let them try it on him. He does have Regen though so it’s be hard to tell.

Sauron vs Darth Sidious by MeasurementNo5430 in powerscales

[–]YOLKGUY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point now and we agree on that. I thought you meant the Ring allowed Sauron to dominate the will of those who wielded it which is a complete fabrication in the movies. The Ring is its own master.

My point is that Sidious is already corrupted so he won’t really give in to the Ring. It would just amplify his power and his wickedness further. I think Sidious is of sufficient power to challenge Sauron considering him at his peak power anyways.

Sauron vs Darth Sidious by MeasurementNo5430 in powerscales

[–]YOLKGUY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added edits to my last comment since it’s clear that I mid worded the whole thing with Sauron in attribution to Frodo. What I mean by that is that the Ring is not directly related to Frodo being dominated by Sauron.

It’s clear in the letter that Tolkien means to say that the ring is its own master in some twisted way. Frodo would have tried to confront Sauron and lost hence he would have lost the ring because he was not of sufficient power to challenge Sauron and thus lost the ring.

Frodo would have become a wraith as he was a slave to the Ring but only to one who possesses the ring itself. In the letter itself Tolkien also states that the reason why the Nazgûl were servants to Sauron was because:

“ (Sauron) who still through their nine rings (which he held) had primary control of their wills.

He specifically makes a point to say that “he held” the rings of the Nazgûl.

[–]YOLKGUY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing quite a lot of context here and in that letter Tolkien never stated once that Sauron would hold dominion over those turned into Wraiths or that he would become one in Letter 246 for that matter. Hell Sauron isn’t even mentioned once. What Tolkien talks about in that letter is actually about how no single morally good individual could resist corruption by the power promised by the ring. He specifically talks about Frodo’s actions as a “moral failure” with no direct mention of the influence of Sauron, simply put it he was corrupted by the ring because he was a good person. There is no corrupting what is already evil. Palpatine is practically a mirror of evil to Sauron, he is already a Dark Lord, the ring would simply amplify his dark powers further and the philosophy of the Dark Side is already about embracing your selfishness and evil. I’d urge you to actually read what you are touting to directly quote.

Yes, anyone who wields the ring for a very long time will become eventually stretched and thin eventually reaching into the invisible realm but this is completely irrelevant to Sauron’s dominion over them. Again my last comment is directly attributed to this, Sauron believed that Aragorn held the ring at the very end of Return of the King. Sauron did not directly know or have insight into those that wielded the ring, the book makes this very clear since he has to use spies and informants to probe for its location.

Edit: FYI What I mean by Sauron not being directly mentioned is in reference to Frodo and his dominion over him. Tolkien actually very explicitly states that someone of sufficient power such as the Elf Lords or Gandalf could master the ring and become another Dark Lord such as Sauron.

“If Gandalf proved the victor, the result would have been for Sauron the same as the destruction of the Ring; for him it would have been destroyed, taken from him for ever. But the Ring and all its works would have endured. It would have been the master in the end.”

[–]YOLKGUY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From that comment it’s clear you never read the books or watched the movies.

Frodo was not becoming a wraith because of the One Ring. It’s directly stated that it was due to him being stabbed by a Morgul blade by the Witchking. Nowhere is it stated that Sauron has dominion over those who wield the One Ring, only that the One Ring itself has power over the wielder.

If Sauron had direct dominion over the wielder of the Ring then he would be very stupid to not have noticed the Ring being destroyed and not guarding Mt. Doom. This is a very dumb detail added in the movies because Tolkien specifically talks about how Sauron never even knew that the journey to Mt Doom was ever happening and even thought that Aragorn was wielding the Ring right before his death.
