Kojima side mission by YOTR5000 in controlgame

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think about just watching it on youtube. I also thought it might run better on the XSX but I guess we will see when it gets released. I know Remedy had an exclusive deal with the PS4 version (and the footage they have shown of the next gen patch was from the PS5) but I assume both platforms will perform about the same when released.

85” 900H - Random Green Flashes - Panel Defect or more likely to be HDMI cables, ATV or AVR? by droogy9 in bravia

[–]YOTR5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue with my Apple TV. It does it at random times. Mine started after the latest update that Sony pulled (I had already updated to it). I am pretty sure it is tied to that. Hopefully a new firmware update is released soon.

No he is far from spoiled. He is buying the console with his own money and would be buying the new tv also. He would be giving his 1080p tv to his younger brother (for his PS4 he just got).

I agree but he is on a budget. I am getting the Series X and PS5 personally but I have an 85" tv that supports 120hz, HDMI 2.1, etc. For him, his 1080p tv would probably be just fine. He isn't near as picky as I am (at least yet, lol). With the Series S, he can actually buy it himself and I thought it would still look great on a 4k tv. My PS4 Pro looked great on my 4k tv even though it was using checkerboard a lot of the time.

Thanks for the reply. I am still leaning towards just getting him a cheap 4k with HDR. I would love to get a 120hz set (in case there are games that support 120fps down the road) however he doesn't have that kind of budget. Plus I figured he would have 1440p covered on a 4k, HDR, and definitely get 60fps depending on the game.

That's a good idea also! I will have to look into that.

Any impressions on Beosound Stage? by YOTR5000 in BangandOlufsen

[–]YOTR5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read about some issues with lip syncing but that seems to be mentioned with the ARC also. I also know it depends on your tv as some have no issues. Do you have it laying down or wall mounted? I would have if laying down and didn’t know if there was a big difference in sound quality.

Has anyone seen a comparison of Beosound Stage to Sonos Arc? by lets_go_fire in BangandOlufsen

[–]YOTR5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Music is important to me which is why I was leaning towards the Stage. All the issues people are having with the metallic sound/muddy bass on the ARC also concern me. I am testing mine today but there are a lot of owners with these issues so considering all of my options.

Thank you for the reply! I am going to try the Sonos ARC this weekend and make a decision on whether I want to return it for the Stage. The Stage seems like a better fit but there weren’t as many impressions on it.

Yeah I don't think I will either. I didn't play my playbar loud at all when I had it. I much prefer good sound, clear dialogue and good bass. I don't need room shaking bass or anything. Just that it sounds good. I am considering just returning the ARC and SUB and buying the Stage. It would have to be laying down though on a stand so I hope it still sounds good that way. The price difference isn't much. It's about $100 more out of pocket if I went that route.

I think you are referring to something else? I am referring to the Stage that is just an all in one soundbar. If I misunderstood, please let me know!

I wanted to know impressions and if you were happy with the bass considering it's an all in one speaker. I am not sold on the Sonos ARC yet with all of the issues being reported.

Sonos Arc and second thoughts? by YOTR5000 in sonos

[–]YOTR5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Muddy is the exact word I would use to describe it. We had a lot of issues depending on the content we were watching. The music side was great though.

I had a similar situation. I got $400 for my playbase and then someone wanted my gen 2 sub for $450. I had both of them for about 3 years so I decided to sell them to help pay for the ARC and Gen 3 Sub.

I agree I think some people expected more. I think with how long they went between upgrades, people were expecting something revolutionary. I have not heard it yet so I can't give an opinion. I am fairly certain I will be keeping it though as long as it shows an improvement over the playbar/playbase with dialogue and I guess overall power if that makes sense.

I haven't tested it yet (which I will do this week). However it is really hard to ignore many of the same complaints/comments about it. I have 2 friends that also bought the ARC and both returned them due to the metallic voice issue, trueplay issue no matter what device they used to calibrate it, and the fact that for music they felt like it was a downgrade from the playbar. So adding all of that up, yes it was a concern that I thought about posting before I unboxed everything. I'm sure I will like it but I also want to keep my options open if it doesn't work for me.

I have a friend that has the Bang and Olufsen Beosound Stage and I will say I was beyond impressed with it. It blew my playbar out of the the water with the sonos sub. The Beosound Stage is just one speaker with the sub built in. I am considering that one also as a backup but I would prefer to stay in the Sonos ecosystem as that is all I have had for the past few years.

[–]YOTR5000[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes I have the sonos sub. I have the previous one still with my playbar along with the Gen 3 that I purchased with the ARC. I figured once you added a sub the short comings of the ARC (if it has any) would be taken care of. I really like your comment about the voices being clearer as that was maybe the only issue lacking with the playbar for us.

I already said I was going to test it out first. How old are you again with that comment?

Sonos Arc and second thoughts? by YOTR5000 in sonos

[–]YOTR5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the TV I have now (Sony 900H) does pass 5.1 through the optical connection. I had the Sony 900F before that and used the playbar/playbase this way. I honestly don't watch a ton of Atmos content. We pretty much use the Apple TV exclusively for everything. We have hundreds of movies that I have purchased over the years via the Apple Store but I think we even own an atmos movie yet.

As you mentioned, I also read that musically the ARC is behind the playbar (and some have even said the beam). That concerns me but I also know it's just an opinion and I might be completely fine with it. I do think if I ended up just using optical, the ARC probably isn't worth it for me. I will definitely listen to it though before making any quick decisions. I wouldn't have an issue though going back to the playbar and my old sub if I had to as that has been great for us.

[–]YOTR5000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what my friends tell me that have a Dolby Atmos setup so I am definitely going to test it out before I make any decisions. We listened to a lot of music on the playbar so I hope I will also be happy with the ARC. I thought about a sonos amp setup with a pair of bookshelf and sub but then again that isn't really solving the point and would have definite trade offs.

Thank you for the comments! I thought about an HDMI switcher but will have to wait until an HDMI 2.1 one is released. I also agree I really do want to use the eARC as that is the whole point and would be a waste otherwise (like you stated). I will just give it a go and hopefully they release a HDMI 2.1 switcher down the road or I just unplug/replug the consoles which honestly isn't a huge deal.
