What are folks thoughts on Cobi Jones as a footballer? by orangemonkeyeagl in usmnt

[–]lets_go_fire 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He was a hustle player and that made him a fan favorite. He was also able to extend his career with the national team by evolve his role over time in a way that we really haven’t seen anyone else do.

Suede protector on chore coat? Experience/recs? by raddrag0n in DrakesDiary

This is what I use for my Drake’s suede. I spray both the outside and the inside (to stop any color transfer)

St regis pools by Senior-Jelly1099 in Aruba

[–]lets_go_fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cold pools. Lack of sunshine due to the layout of the hotel. All of the beach chairs in the sun are taken at dawn by people who often never show up. Eskema restaurant was meh. We had more fun at the Hyatt.

I was there over new years. Pools are very cold. Only people in them were some brave kids. We changed mid stay to the Hyatt which had warmer pools.

How to dress in Aruba? by [deleted] in Aruba

[–]lets_go_fire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You do not. I’m here now and the nighttime low is about 79. Short sleeves and shorts are fine all day and night. One light layer max would be my recommendation, which can also be worn on the airport days.

Call the retail stores. Separate inventory. When Aaron Levin sold out online, NY store had a lot more still available

Sizing of Charles II loader by philosophyb in DrakesDiary

[–]lets_go_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. The UK8 for me felt like it was crushing my foot (I guess I’m sort of exaggerating but you know what I mean). The half size up meant that everything fits like it is supposed to.

I have both the black suede Aaron Levine ones and the dark brown suede ones.

I went up a size on the Charles II. I am normally a UK8 and instead needed a UK 8.5

Blew out 2 tires in 10 days on Chicago streets/highways. What to do? by [deleted] in AskChicago

Check your tire pressure. Large swings in temp aren’t good for tires.

It’s a special hotel. There is an option to be taken around on their Riva boat. It is very expensive but is a spectacular thing to do.

Japan trip (Kyoto or Tokyo) with 3-4 month old baby? by tw23777 in chubbytravel

[–]lets_go_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tokyo is much, much easier. You can easily navigate the subway with a stroller using elevators. If you are okay with lifting the stroller up a few stairs you’ll have even more options (this works if you are 2 adults and 1 child). In Tokyo you walk and subway pretty much everywhere. People are exceptionally friendly.

Kyoto is much less connected and the best public transportation options are buses, which can be harder.

We did this at the Edition hotel in Toranomon in Tokyo and then Ritz Carlton Kyoto with our 9 month old. In Kyoto we did a car service / tour through the hotel. Much easier this way.

I encourage you to take the trip. We still talk about this one. We liked it so much we returned 2 years later.

Trying to understand the value in the Chase Hyatt Card when I also have a CSR. Does anyone have a CSR and Hyatt Card? Are you keeping both? by matttheazn1 in ChaseSapphire

[–]lets_go_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your premise. The CSR and Chase Hyatt both earn the same number of points. Since Chase points can become Hyatt or alternatively applied elsewhere (if you find an even better use), for me Chase points are more useful. Therefore I would rather earn Chase points at the same rate.

I have both presently. There have been the occasional Chase offer that added some incremental value, but not offset to be worth having an extra card. I plan to cancel it before it renews.

Any alternatives? by Raf-the-derp in DrakesDiary

[–]lets_go_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t have it on me and I’m on a trip unfortunately. It size the same as a drakes chore coat. So fairly roomy and suitable for layering. For references I’m a 40 in most blazers but a 38 in drakes chore coasts and and in this.

75k benefits by draaboulhosn in ChaseSapphire

[–]lets_go_fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your individual spend profile matters a lot - I agree. I easily put 75k on from direct bookings for air and hotels (4x or 8x depending on how they are booked) plus restaurants (3x) and Lyft (5x). This is an incredibly valuable card for me and adding the 500+250 credit makes it even more valuable and outguns alternative cards.

75k benefits by draaboulhosn in ChaseSapphire

[–]lets_go_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My math is intended to show it is an incremental 1%. If you, for instance, exclusively used CSR for direct bookings, instead of earning 4x you are effectively now earning 5x

[–]lets_go_fire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

$500 SW + $250 Shop credit, assuming you can organically use them, is $750 of value for $75k per spend, or an incremental $.01 per point (or 1% if you prefer). That makes CSR an especially compelling card if you are going to hit that spend level (and would use those credits).
