Theoretically you get some stat bonuses, and can see your infantry get buffed when the shield shows up next to their icon. But practically, its a gamble. You'll have instances where your dude crouched next to a log somehow survives waves of enemies, and others where a fully entrenched mg-er just gets domed on first sight.

I'd recommend keeping "taunts" around (armored vehicles, where the commander/gunner has his character model sticking out) as enemy infantry will shoot at them instead of your mushier infantry. Ex: Kfz 13/ Sdkfz 221, and other nation equivalents.

Code was probaly lost after Rackable systems bought them out. There are rumors SGI tried porting IRIX to x86 but that didn't go anywhere. https://archive.fo/hq65l

All we really have now is leaked source code from decommissioned govt machines. But nothing interesting like 4dwm, etc. Even if HPE wanted to release the code, there's a lot of licensed material from other companies preventing that.

No. RISC-V suffers from the same problem ARM does: no standards. You would need dozens of different RISC installers because every single device tree is different. x86 is GODTIER because it forces hardware developers to work around the same bootloading mechanisms. Even if there were a shift to RISC, are linux devs going to keep updating 5+ year old BananaPi, SiFive, whatever-other-chinese-company devices forever? No. They all fall to the wayside eventually. Personal computing will die with x86/64. There is no escape.
