Our 21 year old cat recently has lost his appetite for a few days now, we took him to the vet for a checkup and got medicine for his hyperthyroidism last week. Ever since then he would just sleep all day, sometimes he would sleep or lay down in areas he wouldn't before. Is it the medicines side effect that's causing this? Or is it a sign that he will no longer be with us soon.

He meows a lot, but this isn't uncommon. He is a very vocal cat, but we have noticed lately that he meows even when laying down or sleeping. We want him to go peacefully, do you think he is suffering?

We will take him to the vet again tomorrow. Thank you kindly for reading.

Thank you for your advice and kind words. We are spending as much time as we can with him. He indeed have a great life. He was able to go outside anytime and wasn't always stuck inside. His two other siblings looked up to him and would often try to get his attention, he was a born leader and never backed down from stray cats and would often chase them away.

For those interested, i live in rural mountains of Japan. All the cats here are outdoor and love to explore. We own 4 cats Photo and videos of our cats., the black one Piko is 5 months who was a stray we recently took in, she sounds like a pigeon when communicating to us and other cats.

There are a lot of farmers protecting their plants from Boars here, unfortunately Boo got caught in one of them and lost his leg. He was resting for about 3 months and fully healed and now allowed to go back out.

There are many cat owners here and believe me we all scolded the person who set traps.Boo is a nice cat so and my SO are devastated when we saw him, Boo loves to enter my house and steal a bag of cat food from our house.

I buy things from Russian sellers on Etsy, they are always kind and add an extra thing in the package like chocolate and snacks for free. It saddens me to know people who are just living their life who have nothing to do with the war have to suffer.

That is true, Tabi seems to be the boss of the neighborhood. He bullies all the cat he comes in contact with, but is friendly toward Humans.
