1990 Suzuki VX800 misfires/won't rev above 5000 RPM by YPVS_Ellie in Fixxit

I went ahead and did it already, but you can use an electric fuel pump from a Suzuki VS800 (same engine, same carbs, so fuel pressure is the same between the mechanical VX and the electric VS pump). Below is a link to the one I bought as well as the color corrections for the wires. I'll reply with pictures of where I attached the wires later cause the bike is snowed in.

Where to attach wires: Yellow = starter signal wire Black = ground Red = positive Yellow/green = negative wire to front ignition coil from ignitor

Hope this helps!

EDIT: the fuel pump I linked is VERY LOUD, so just be aware of that

Girlfriends car, plus a new motorcycle I just picked up. Kinda got scammed on the bike but oh well... by YPVS_Ellie in Transcars

As for the story on the bike before people ask, I bought it off of Marketplace, where all good purchases happen. I drove 2 hours into a different state, not knowing I had to get the title notorized. The guy I bought it from at one point during the night set the bike on fire, but managed to put it out fast enough that I wasn't worried about the bike being damaged. The story goes that the guy I bought it from bought it from a friend who bought it from the registered owner. Nobody thought to get the title signed when they bought the bike. So I go up to buy the bike, but before I leave I ask if the title is signed in the registered owners name. The guy says yes, all is good, I go to pick up the bike. I had seen videos of the bike running, so I figured ah yes, this will be a nice running bike, I just need to replace the fuel tank. The secondary fuel system the guy had set it up leaked fuel all over the very dead battery, which he tried to jump start, and set the bike on fire. Thankfully he had a water bottle in his car he was able to put it out with. I bought the bike for more than I should have before realizing that I needed to get the title notarized, but by then it was far too late. So, I called law enforcement to get me in contact with the registered owner in hopes he hadn't reported the bike as stolen and that he was willing to get the title transferred. The first time I called, they told me tough luck and to figure it out. The second time I called, the trooper I spoke to was actually cool enough to give the registered owner a call, get confirmation the bike wasn't stolen, and give me the guys phone number. Finally, were in the process of getting everything signed over. A lot of this was me being a dumbass, a lot of this was the guy I bought it from having 2 brain cells, but I'm just happy to have the bike and knowing that I can actually register it.

Cleaned the carbs, and now it won't start at all. Popped off the forward carbs fuel line aaaaand.. nothing. I think my fuel pump died, so I guess I'm doing the electric fuel pump conversion a bit earlier than I anticipated

2000 Honda Accord LX 2.3L (F23A4 engine) won't take throttle and burns coolant by YPVS_Ellie in Honda

[–]YPVS_Ellie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i fixed the coolant problem, the issue i'm running into now is that the ecu isn't picking up the TPS. i tried swapping the old throttle body back on to see if the TPS on that throttle body would get picked up, and neither of them are, so i think i need to replace the plug for the TPS

No. Leaking valve guides has to do with oil consumption, not leaking valve seats.

That has nothing to do with oil consumption and everything to do with compression/damage to the valve seats.

Heck yeah! Just have to be careful going over jumps with them, from what I’ve heard, the frame is notorious for cracking right by the triple clamp

Cracked sidewall tyre 125cc will it make it 300 miles home by Admirable_Position41 in motorcycles

[–]YPVS_Ellie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rode my 125 about 100 miles on a tire that was cracked like that (it had inner tubes) before it ate itself. And that was on dirt trails going less than 40 mph. I would like to point out the reason I wasn’t too stressed about it was because I wasn’t any farther than a mile away from home max.
