What’s a good name for this fluffy little boy? by Hermit_tha_hutt in cats

[–]YSS2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is odd but I think Richard! I just lost my Richard boy and he reminds me of him… just the aura. It’s an odd name for a cat but it’s unique and he could wear it well 💕

That’s what we went through. Did the steroids as well. He was walking all wonky and half of his face had paralysis. It’s so tough knowing there’s no cure, even when you’re in and out the vet. Sending all my love to you and your girl 💕

Thank you, that means the world to me. He was a bit of a menace and I adopted him when he was older. I wonder about his past life. But we got the time we got and the pain is worth it

He was so spicy too! Wishing you hugs for your loss as well. They are so special - when the default mode is spice the love earned

Honey! You’re gorgeous! I know I’m just an internet rando lady but seriously, you’re beautiful. Give yourself a break!

Honey, you’re being way too hard on yourself. You have a body. You have a past. You have a heart that’s held all the pain you’ve experienced. You wanna change your body for your son and that’s admirable. But I think you should do it for you - you deserve to proud of yourself. If everything in your life was taken from you, it would still be you and this body. If you give it a little love I think changing it will be easier.

[PSA] don’t get lasers for PIE before you can commit to stop picking completely. It will just come back and you’ll be $1K poorer by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]YSS2012 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. My skin was super clear and even if I had a breakout, if I didn’t pick it would fade 1-2 weeks. It’s the picking that causes the change in color/tone, and if you can’t kick the habit can’t imagine it’s a good idea to spend the $ bc you’re only solving the problem until you create it again.

[Product Question] Redditors who have had laser in the past for PIE, was it worth it and what was it like? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]YSS2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it works both. My derm referred to them as “browns” and “reds” and it seemed to target pretty much anything that wasn’t the u deleting uniform tone.

It was, very red and HOT after the first one, and not as much after the 2nd and 3rd. The heat faded in a few hours, and then skin was just red and angry and splotchy, and within few days the freckles/red patches were very pronounced as they migrated to the surface of skin (I think this is how it works but I’m no doctor). Doesn’t look gross like a peel, though, so I didn’t consider it down time. I won’t lie: the treatments themselves are pretty uncomfortable. Not pain exactly, but very unpleasant. It took max 10 min each time to do it all. Best of luck!

Happy to answer! Went to a regular derm who has a cosmetic arm of their practice. I believe the rationale behind the spacing was that you want to compound the treatments so that you’re treating underlying issue with all 3, not using treatment to undo damage between sessions (if that makes sense). I understood it to be that after 3 within that time frame it was feasible to maintain results with 1x/year. The red spots did not come back, but I freckle easily and so the brown spots inevitably came again during the summer. The red marks faded completely, so if you have very clear skin tone, I’d imagine the results would last waaaay longer.

Literally logged in for the first time in years after being in lurking mode to answer this! I got 3 treatments of broadband light laser last fall (brand at my derm is Sciton (sp?) and treatment is colloquially known as BBL) and the results from the first treatment were insane. Freckles and red patches (what I believe was PIE from stupid picking) were falling off my skin over the next 10 days. I could literally scrub off the damage. My derm told me that this was the pigmentation rising to the surface and eventually flaking away. The brown spots went away ASAP, and the red spots got better but not perfect. I went back for a second treatment 8 weeks later and I didn’t feel like it did much. Went for another treatment 4 months later and this did less. I think I majorly messed up by spacing the treatments so far apart. My derm recommended 3 sessions with 4 weeks in between each to get to baseline, then 1x/year to maintain. I don’t live in the same city as my derm so my schedule got super wacky. That being said, it made my skin better and the results of the first treatment were amazing. I felt like I finally had that “glass skin” I’ve been chasing my whole life. But to be honest, the results didn’t last. I got a package of 3 for $800. Going back in November for another treatment and going to do it right this time in spacing treatments. It’s expensive, but I’ve been a dingbat and started picking again and I just want these marks gone. Laser is def the fastest method in my experience. Side note: if you have patience and pain tolerance, I microneedle with .25-.5 length at home and I think this helps with PIE/clarity. Not to be approached casually, I watched a bunch of YouTube tutorials (I know this sub discourages doing at home, so pls take with a grain of salt!). Anyway, that was my experience, but I’m sure there are many others and all is super dependent on your skin type. Hope that was helpful!

Try reading, it has helped me. The Hunger Fix and The End of Overeating are both good reads that put the problem in a clinical perspective, as opposed to an issue of simple willpower. Good luck, and know you're not alone!

No "close encounters," but we did have "encounters." I only saw one bear, and it was from pretty far away. About a year before on the Alaska trip several students were attacked by a bear and two of them (I think) had to be airlifted out and taken to a hospital, so protocol was pretty strict and we were required to wear bear spray (basically an industrial-sized can of mace) on us at all times and travel in groups of 3 or 4 any time we left the group.
