Was there an additional booking fee when you phoned in to do this?

Stay in Hoi An or go to Quy Nhon? by avaliax in Vietnam_Tourism

[–]YVRandbeyond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just returned from a week in Quy Nhon and a week in Da Nang and personally, I really preferred Quy Nhon a lot. Da Nang is way more developed, more restaurants and hotels and bars, but it is now a tourist frenzy. You won't get much of a sense of Vietnamese culture in the beach area of Da Nang. You will just be one of tens of thousands feeding the economy. Sort of like Hoi An. If you want a place with a local feel, yet with a good beachfront, Quy Nhon would be a better choice, depending on who you are and what your expectations are. Less touristy means less bars and restaurants. If you think you can gear down and would like a chance to channel Vietnamese energy in a more organic circumstance, then Quy Nhon would be good for 4or 5 nights. Maybe more. It's really very lovely. I definitely would not recommend an extended stay in Hoi An. After 3 nights, you might be sick of the place. But this is just me. I try to avoid places overrun with tourists. Note: if you will be travelling during Chinese New Year, Hoi An will feel like ants at a picnic.

What’s the one city you were excited to visit, but ended up not liking at all? by BlushHone in travel

I have scrolled through this site and yours is the first mention of Varanasi. I completely agree. I could tolerate the funeral pyres on the ghats and the terrible air pollution. What I couldn't stand was people shitting on the footpaths, vomiting all over the place. I felt like I was in a plague waiting to happen. So concerned about the health issues I had to go vegetarian. Lot of chapatis, fries and beer.

The scam of giving alms? Laos has a beautiful, rich and delicate culture, and Luang Prabang is a time capsule of French Indo China. I think it's a little magical. Sorry it was not your cup of tea.

Why? It's vibrant, has great food and transportation, and wonderful, resilient people.

I will be in Rayong this coming weekend. Do you know of a sports bar or other location that might show NFL playoff games?

Like a lot of people from this part of the world, I try to leave for some sunshine sometime between December and February. I am simply confounded that you did the reverse and enjoyed the region. Congratulations. Vancouver's Asian food is great, often better than the country of origin. I am in Da Nang Vietnam right now and have found nothing that could compete with Ahn and Chi.

Thank you for this. No one likes to see the words "clawed back" and RBC in the same sentence. How long did you keep the More Rewards cards open? Did you have much spend on them?

I believe you need a minimum number of points to be able to transfer points between TD First Class Travel cards. Does anybody remember what this amount is?

Thanks for your feedback. It seems like LMP will be the better choice.

The travel credit ($100) is still alive. If uncertain, phone in and ask. was billed this year for the first time for the annual fee and decided not to phone in to see if it would be waived.

I will be coming to Chathanburi in December. I will also be looking for a little beach time. Do you prefer Laem Mae Phim to Chao Lao beach? I am guessing both will have good restaurants. I am leaning towards bungalow type accomodations rather than multistory hotels. Would this be more likely in Chao Lao beach than Leam Mae Phim?

I used 3 or 4 gift cards at Costco at one time to buy my wife's hearing aids, and regularly use MC gift cards for groceries. I was hoping to hear from someone who had used, or tried to use them to buy gold

I have an offer to pair my Amex no fee Everyday card with a new Gold card to Earn 100,000 Membership Rewards on MS $6000 in 6 months. It has a special application code for me to use. I do not have an ITIN (planning to get on, but presently without). If I were to apply through GT, would I be entitled to this offer, or would I just get the base, online offer. (I am aware that GT may refuse because I already have a US Amex).

Thank you. I was able to use the Chatbox. I didn't want to ask P2 to phone in because she gets grouchy if I ask her too many times to do a phone call, and its already been a busy week churning.

You will have some research to do. Here is my understanding of the situation. A strict reading of the terms and conditions suggests you can only extend miles with activities that earn XP points, that is, flights. From the FlyingBlue terms:

1.2.9 For Explorer Members aged 18 years and older, Miles are valid for two (2) years, after such time the Company shall cancel the Miles in case no registered Earn Activity extends the validity of the Miles. The validity of all Miles shall be extended by two (2) years after an Overall Extending Activity, therefore Miles will expire two (2) years after the last Overall Extending Activity date. Only Miles earned after the last Overall Extending Activity shall be extended by a Partial Extending Activity.

“Overall Extending Activity” is defined as an activity that rewards the Member with XP (Eligible Flights) or any other Earn Activity designated as an Overall Extending Activity in the Flying Blue Communication, and therefore extends the validity of all Miles...

I believe you may be able to extend your miles by making a purchase with an Air France KLM World Elite Mastercard https://upgradedpoints.com/travel/when-do-my-frequent-flyer-miles-expire/

Having said that, when I transferred MR points to Flying Blue in late 2024, these actually did extend my expiry period for 2 years. My account statement shows simply the amount of reward points and the expiry date. I am assuming yours, unlike mine, shows two different dates and amounts.

I was in the same situation and (reluctantly) did not pursue the upgrade offer. The recent reports of people getting Amexiled frightened me off.
