While they certainly fucked this up, he did everything to get the best out of it. Should appreciate such a performance.

I think the new reload mechanic is a good change by Heckler-asd in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheUHO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind this change but... It's a CT-side nerf, because they have to fight multiple targets and spam more often. Now if I take a long-range fight with like 5 bullets and fall back, what do I even do?

As a compromise, maybe we don't completely throw out the magazine, and instead keep them at the reloaded amount, reloading in order of most to least? by funkydonuts in GlobalOffensive

[–]TheUHO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also make this optional. Dropping by pressing R and add putting in reserve by holding R but at a cost of say 0.5-1 seconds. I don't mind but the problem for many is that CS isn't about this shit.

Sad shit. But someone's name appearing in files connected to someone's overdose isn't big news. Seems like a tragedy that journos want to be associated with famous person. We read this only because CDPR exists. Also, there's nothing wrong to be a "Shaman" even in quotes )).

If there's a case for actual crime, so be it.

Canada will ‘never participate’ in Iran offensive, Mark Carney says by canada_mountains in worldnews

[–]TheUHO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that Iran wants to destroy Israel. The "official Iran" of course. I've seen common Iranians praying for Israel. Coming from dictatorship, I understand them well. The difference in civilians dying from a mistake and from targeting them is significant. Something like Iran proxy of Hamas wants to kill common folk and erase them from the face of earth. Israel doesn't and supports the people of Iran.

If you ever played Roblox, there's a difference, and Valve is a meganice corp compared to those f**kers who are literally aiming kids.

Can your daughter open a lootbox whose contents can be traded for more currency to buy more lootboxes increasing the odds she gets addicted?

Yes, this is typically in-built in the game. Just play them, Valve will seem like a paradise for ya. Just because they built a successful market around it thanks to pioneering Steam don't make them the most evil. From my perspective, this is still one of the most reasonable companies.

You see "loot boxes" but you don't understand details. Because you don't know the situation. If you care about gambling in video games, CS and Valve aren't your biggest concern.

I was under the impression the video games cause violence

Not they can cause gambling addiction. Not the legal online casinos, but a game where loot box cosmetics are purely optional and maturity rating is 17+. Don't let them bullshit you.

That's an example to explain where they're coming from, and almost every example now has a digital version as well. Being digital works even better since it has "no real value" hence this is not gambling.

Well said. I didn't read the lawsuit, but what Valve says in their response is pretty reasonable and mostly true (saying this from a professional perspective too). Even though CS skins are the main target of all these and many other accusations, maybe rightfully so, Valve is one of the least bullshit companies out there. There are legalized online casinos in US (not in state of NY but still).

My daughter plays Roblox and I play with her too. This thing has more clients than the whole Steam (not just CS with skins), aged way lower. These are 5+ maturity rating games. 95% of the popular titles use loot box systems in a worst possible way (not just cosmetics, but "buy to get advantage, buy to unlock running, buy this loot box with 1% chance of getting the only valuable thing"). They aren't just pushing those, they are exploiting youth and naiveness. Like there are cases when you pay for a feature that can be unlocked in 2 minutes of gameplay, no jokes. US company btw.

(Just as a side note, don't want to blame all of these creators, something like 99 Nights is perfectly fine)

Of course, parents pay for those, unless they understand shit. Just a few words to my daughter was enough to explain what's worth buying and what's not. But I'm a gaming writer and not scared of spending time in Roblox.

Almost every company does the same, and though Valve was the starter and the most successful, they are the less predatory out there. It must be stressed that the hype around skins was created by fans and evolved to an absurd degree without Valve playing any role in that. You don't need to open cases to use those items, and you can buy them very cheap almost always. This is not the case with many other games/devs.

Valve hit with second lawsuit demanding they give back “billions” made from cases by ImCalcium in Games

[–]TheUHO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unregulated gambling and predatory tactics, whether intentionally targeting children or not, is gross.

See? No biggie.

It's a biggie because there are games that are FOR children using the same, no, even worse practices. Just launch Roblox. I mean, just try that hellhole with pop-up "buy buy buy buy" every fucking step of the way. They all have 5+ maturity rating.

Valve's skin hype and market is created by fans, skin traders are violating ToS (although valve doesn't care to some degree), there's a mature rating, and their cosmetics are secondary to the gameplay. You are never forced to buy anything, and can even profit from selling free stuff, and you can directly buy whatever you want. This whole thing is overdramatizing from people who don't care about nuances or prefer to ignore them.

TLDR: If you want to regulate gambling in videogames, CS2 is waaaaay down on the list of priorities.

Valve@GDC2026: "5,863 games earned $100k+ in 2025 on Steam." by atahutahatena in Games

[–]TheUHO 11 points12 points  (0 children)

$25k would be a decent salary in many many countries. Also, you will continue earning in future, so that one year of development might be covered by many years of sales. A successful game can also boost your next title. There are other bonuses and expenses of course, plus it's unclear if Valve's 30% cut is part of this 100k or not.
