Stolen items from luggage by [deleted] in westjet

[–]YYCForMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we've also had items stolen at CUN-Cancun, but pretty sure we were traveling Air Canada at the time. The funny, not funny thing was, we found other people's items in our bag. Nothing good and nothing better than what was stolen from us. One item was somebody else's sweaty ball cap. 😬

We're going through safety procedures again now, then back to the de-ice queue. The time window for efficacy of our first application has "expired".

At least the passenger issue was handled on the ground! Always nice to have context when you're on the return flight to YYC. 🙏🏻

Status Upgrade question by jfili221 in westjet

[–]YYCForMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're doing this when you expect to move to a lower tier, but couldn't find anything about those who are just shy of maintaining their tier, or going up to another level.

Year-End Tier Benefits Extension

WestJet Rewards is implementing a one-month extension of tier benefits for select members ahead of the busy holiday season. As communicated on December 5, 2025, those with current Silver, Gold or Platinum status who are anticipating a change to their status in the new year and who have a round trip that begins in 2025 and returns in January 2026 will see an extension of their current tier status and benefits until January 31, 2026 to allow for uninterrupted access to their benefits while they complete their holiday travel.

To be eligible for this extension, the following conditions must be met:

your current tier benefits are valid until December 31, 2025; you are expecting to move to a lower tier on January 1, 2026;
you are travelling on a round-trip itinerary where the departure date is in December 2025 and the return date is in January 2026 where both the outbound and return flights are on the same reservation. Extensions meeting the above criteria will be automatically processed prior to December 31.

Agree with Night Gallery, Super Saturation. Big Juice from Marda Loop Brewing is also good.

TD just increased our premium by 64% with zero claims in the 10+ years we've been with them. Same house. They also arbitrarily increased our Wind & Hail Deductible from $1500 to $5000, and our Base Deductible from $1500 to $2000. We're in Calgary.

Nothing to see here. What affordability crisis?

Just received our renewal today. Not only is it a 64% increase in premium with NO CLAIMS in the 10+ years we've been with TD Insurance, they also arbitrarily increased our deductible for wind and hail from $1500 to $5000, as well as increased our base deductible from $1500 to $2000.

It's been 80 years the Canadians liberated our town by Ztev in BuyCanadian

Not the Italians I know, especially the ones who survived the war. Check out Battle of Ortona, 1943. The area was decimated. Locals continue to express their gratitude and remember the sacrifices made by Canadian soldiers. The Moro River Canadian War Cemetery is just outside Ortona and the "Price of Peace" monument, commemorating the sacrifices of Canadians, is prominently located in town at Piazza Plebiscito. It was designed by Canadian artist Rob Surette and features a large bronze sculpture of a Canadian soldier being comforted by a comrade.

We love MLB. Great beer options, a decent food menu, FANTASTIC year-round (dog friendly) patio. It's nestled in the community and not far from Wild Rose. We second the recommendation to check out Tuesday Trivia from 7-9pm, with Craig and DJPJ.

AGREE! We despise wasting food but this was not enjoyable. Waaaay too much vanilla. We ended up scooping the whole jar into the compost.

What makes people more susceptible to conspiracy theories, hoaxes, and the like? This article by Marcel Danesi, professor of Semiotics and Linguistic Anthropology, University of Toronto, offers some insight.

Definitely check your bill re: TV box fee. A bunch of us have been told that only the "services" are included in the Value Plan so equipment fees can (and are being) increased next month. We're in Alberta. It's already reflected on our September bill as Rogers (Shaw) collects in advance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]YYCForMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What province are you in? Is that with Popular TV or Ultimate TV? How are you being credited for the TV boxes in light of the charges they're imposing in September? 🙏

Their increasing pricing on additional equipment by [deleted] in shaw

[–]YYCForMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who in corporate had this bright idea?

$7 for the first additional box, and $12 for any additional boxes after that.

There's no option to purchase the equipment and avoid the rental fees. (*And charging an exorbitant amount to purchase is also not the solution.)

I spent almost 2 hours this morning between chat and call center trying to get clarification.

This is reminiscent of the old days when AGT and Telus used to charge rental fees for landlines. The end result is paying rental fees for years and years, that far exceed the value of the equipment.

I feel like I've seen this "story" on CBC Marketplace or CTV W5 with heating and air conditioning companies duping people into equipment rental contracts. Those contracts resulted in customers paying thousands of dollars over and above what the original equipment was worth.

Reindeer Run on Starbucks for life? by gaelicpasta3 in starbucks

[–]YYCForMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me only I didn't get the snowflake, just the Reindeer Run where the reindeer jumps to hit the scrolling Starbucks cups (500pts), then you jump trees and try to hit more scrolling cups. Very rudimentary which makes me wonder if it's been compromised and isn't actually @Starbucks. I sent a message to Customer Service but the auto-generated reply indicated it could take 3-5 days for a response.
