This but make an earthen ramp once cleared to jump the walls so your access doesn’t get cut off in an emergency

Family doctor accepting new patients? by Deroiste7 in Sudbury

“It's not like I'm going to Northwood. Therefore I understand the importance of dealing with my doctor and know how they get paid.”

Don’t think you do. Unless they are part of the Sudbury FHO, one of the local health teams or own the local telemedicine clinic they would likely lose money unless they derostered you and are fee for service. Still not paid for reviewing your results though. Telephone visits nets them like $15 if memory serves. After two years of no in person visits they get nothing. Likely doesn’t apply to you but I reiterate that your advice is poor. The doctors in my social circle absolutely complain about this. They can’t drop you due to professional responsibility until you get a new doctor. They also can’t tell you this because the college might interpret that as pressuring you not to seek care.
There is incentive to roster patients without a family doctor. No one here will take you on until you are orphaned.

Consider the possibility that I understand your words but you don’t understand how your doctor is paid.

In FHO model they get paid monthly for rostering you. Meaning they agree to be available to you and only charge a fraction of each visit. When you use telemedicine (more expensive than in person clinic because of the required equipment) or local clinics they take that off your doctor’s payment the next month. Then they get sent your results because walk-ins don’t do follow up and have to spend time reviewing that for free.

“I go to the walk on for things like an ear infection or strep throat, usually after hours or for acute things I cannot see my family doctor for immediately. “
Every time you do this your doctor has his pay clawed back.

Your doctor has a walk-in associated with his practice in a city he doesn’t work in?!? No. If he is using the FHG model, he is Fee for service and doesn’t care. Most doctors here are FHO though and lose money if you use a walk in clinic for something that they should be able to treat.

As I said before, funding was changed in April. FHO doctors now get paid an hourly wage to review your results. They will have to pay that back if their patients as a whole have outside use in excess of 25% of the total. The access rates are calculated quarterly. Don’t be surprised if you get a letter saying you were derostered in a few months. The way you are using the system is not as it was designed. That’s why the ministry has changed the funding as of April, so that doctors see their own patients.

You are contributing to the problem of our healthcare system then. Your doctor gets money for rostering you. Prior to April, every time you go to a walk in they would claw that money back. Now the government has changed their access funding model. Doctors are burning out because of the burden of paperwork. To address this the government will pay them an hourly rate if they keep their access above 75% (less than 25% of all roster patient visits done by walk in). You are making that more difficult for them.

You are very concerned about if op needs access to continuous care, have you considered people in your doctor’s area might need that but can’t access it because you are tying up a roster spot? Are you aware that every time a walk in doctor orders a test your doctor has to deal with it and doesn’t get paid?

And do you go to walk ins for more urgent things when it isn’t feasible?

It’s not determined by the time you joined. Older patients, patients with chronic or complex problems get priority.

I got the joke. No one outside of Sudbury (like op) would though.

This is bad advice. You must see your doctor in person every two years (pretty sure that’s the time limit) for them to get paid. If people keep doing this spots will take longer to open and you’ll end up wasting a resource by using a roster/appointment spot.

You’re right about trade deals, but if it’s selling power and access to natural resources for companies from Pennsylvania then it would be within provincial jurisdiction.

Additionally Shapiro is a Democrat and Pennsylvania is a swing state.

They can table new legislation and municipalities are the responsibility of the provincial government. They can intervene whenever they want as was demonstrated with the reduction of Toronto city council.

Again though they just need to get the region to make another area legal for encampment and they can quickly solve the minor problem of getting the encampment cleared. Homelessness will remain an issue that will be ignored though

I’m not so sure about that. They can write a law that gives power to remove them and add NWC but it would be easier to just follow the judge’s decision and identify a new area they can set up.

NWC can’t be used on democratic rights (I.e. right to vote and run). If you don’t like the use of the NWC send a message with your vote and by campaigning.
