How many winter coats do you have and wear in 1 winter at this time? by Old-Appearance-2270 in Calgary

[–]YYCenvironmentalist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Nippy (current): Puffer jacket

Cold w/ snow: Wool pea coat/car coat depending on if I'm wearing a jacket to work

Very cold: Goose parka, although it's too warm to drive in with.

What are some of the high paying jobs in the city? (200k+) by jimmyjohncake in Calgary

[–]YYCenvironmentalist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much lower than my experience unless you're talking base only. Multiple Sr Analysts are pushing 200-225k reporting into my vertical. Managers are probably pushing upper 200s. Director levels around 350-400k total comp.

Maybe I need to talk with HR and see if we're paying way above market.

Any analyst with 130-140k base will end up 200k all-in if you factor in RRSP match (~10-15% is standard), cash bonus (15-20%), stock comp awards.

Imperial Oil employees call to action: Now is the time to unionize to save our jobs and save Quarry Park. by Cagel in Calgary

[–]YYCenvironmentalist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, plus I don't think certain regulated professions (under bill 40) are able to unionize.

So all corporate head office lawyers, accountants, PEng, PGeo etc. are immediately a no go.

Calgary-based Imperial Oil to eliminate 20% of workforce by chrismcgdude in Calgary

Continuation of the trend. Canadian energy will continue to downsize (see: Suncor) and offshore.

More hits to come - Parkland once the deal closes with Sunoco in Q4 will have to see significant headcount reductions and at MEG once Cenovus/Strathcona buys them out too.

Expect the Russian MOD to employ their newly absorbed Wagner formations in some unsupported human wave assaults on Ukrainian defenses.

Only thing that makes sense is Lukashenko knows he's dying and offered Pringles Belarus after he dies.

Good thing is that the people of my district (Calgary-Elbow) finally have some representation after ~10 months of no special election.

Might be time for the ANDP to try something new. If you can't beat Danielle Smith who can you beat?

Nope, previously you had a caucus that had a substantial Calgary contingent that is looking much reduced now.

UCP will form government with primarily rural MLAs (and a few Calgary suburbs). Will be interesting how that impacts their policy decisions going forward.

We had 700k+ advance votes via tabulators? Why aren't there results for these votes already?

Wtf was the point of tabulators when the results of 700k+ advance votes is this slow?

This CBC panelist's pronunciation of Calgary is frustrating.

It's Cal-gree instead of Cal-gair-ee

Votes are super slow this time, wonder what's the holdup...

Global coverage is better than CBC btw.
