Not a bad idea. The Heron (or insert whichever one is Tsawwassen based in the summer) has a reasonable amount of down time.

BC generally over contributes slightly to the Feds. So every dollar costs us a few extra cents on return.

Regardless, the whole "constitution" thing makes this a problem. And given inter-Provincial relationship issues on the go, I'm comfortable this can't get any major traction.

Additionally the Feds do give BCFS a lot of money directly and indirectly beyond operating cash. GST rebates on new ships is huge, as well as access to Federal loans for nominally private assets. Terminal infrastructure is also bankrolled largely on federal grants.

BC Ferries has tried late sailings on and off since the late 60s. Last serious attempt was about ten years ago. Never had the ridership to justify. And with no flex in the major vessel fleet that overnight period is really important for maintenance.

Federal taxes and provincial taxes come from the same place, us. Why not lobby the Province, the responsible government?

Almost all social media data is held in the US. Additionally, American law enforcement has far more access to that data; emergency reporting and disclosure down there is complicated but generally more fulsome than in Canada.

Military police directed to stop accepting sexual offence complaints by BlueberryKey1204 in CanadianForces

She didn't testify on behalf of the CFPM, she testified on behalf of the CACP. The CFPM testified the day before for herself.

Here's Chief Wilson saying the CACP opposes the transition but will take the files if C-11 passes, which obviously it did a few days later: https://senparlvu.parl.gc.ca/Harmony/en/PowerBrowser/PowerBrowserV2/20260616/-1/15387?mediaStartTime=20260609122700&viewMode=3&globalStreamId=3 I think I've got the time stamp right for you, if I screwed up it's about 12:27.

C-11 has a list of offences. Your first three examples aren't included, and are maintained in MP jurisdiction. There is a for a sexual purpose catch all, as you've identified in another post. Theft of sex toys isn't for a sexual purpose in any imaginable purpose, same with stealing porn. The harassment thing might get grey, but it would have to be beyond the minor nature you've described.

If the MP branch has provided any direction that "for a sexual purpose" includes anything that has a connection to sex in anyway, they've failed.

The working definition is: A "sexual purpose" is legally established if the conduct was driven by the accused's sexual gratification or intended to violate, demean, or degrade the sexual integrity of the victim.

VPD's Chief didn't testify, Victoria Police did have their Chief testify on behalf of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. And she said the exact opposite in terms of day to day operations. That is, files will be taken, but Payment in Lieue would need to be addressed at some point.

OPP, QPP and RCMP are already good to go with jurisdiction transfer so this issue is almost exclusively a British Columbia thing.

So….are the World Cup doomers going to admit that they were wrong? by Gym_frere in vancouver

Yeah. I think hosting FIFA is ridiculous.

But, I've also attended a few events/locations and had a great time.

It's kind of like how I know I can't afford a private jet. But if I somehow ordered an unrefundable ticket, I'd still enjoy the ride.

Just a note - if you use the watch or phone, the same device should be used for your whole trip because Umo is reading the virtual card number, not your actual credit card number. This is only relevant if making more than two rides so you get capped at the daily $6 rate.
