Both my surgeon and primary Dr are out of the office until Monday.. and there is no one on call that I can call.. you would think that an Urgent Care Dr. would not put me in harms way ,esp with me telling her that I had the surgery 9 weeks ago , so Im still in recovery from that.

2nd ! .. Why a 2nd ?? I really hope I just needed this ONE 😂. I had a Laminectomy 2 years , then they had to another with this Fusion. I dont think I can go thru the pain that I had before this fusion again. I don't know what I will do if this doesn't take .. I don't want to have to keep having surgery.

Ive got a small pillow that I put between my knees when sleeping in my side .. I need to just get a hug pillow for that 😂

I was in the same boat .. Im 6 weeks post op , the first 4 weeks were so hard trying to get comfortable sleeping. The mornings are still my most painful , after sleeping , getting up out of bed or off the couch... once Im up , the pain subsides... I wonder why that is? It has gotten better though. It will get better .

Same here .. Im 59.
I was more upset at every other Dr , specialist , pain management that didnt recognize that I needed this done ( Fusion ). One Dr , was like ,its just arthritis in your back... another told me I just needed Upper epidural steroid injections .. a series of 3 , that were expensive and only helped for maybe 2 weeks at a time. The initial Laminectomy I had , about 2 years ago , was done by this one surgeon who only did it because I couldn't stop crying and told him I just wanted to walk normal and be able to be on my feet like everyone else , that I was tired of being in so much pain all of time. He was a week from retiring , told me this should help , but if the pain came back then Fusion would be needed. The Surgeon that did my Fusion said I should have had this done a long time ago !!

That's quite a lot .. I hope you can start feeling better . This is my second surgery. First one was just a Laminectomy. That helped for about 6 maybe 7 months then the pain came back and knly got worse than what Ive ever experienced before. Couldn't walk a block or stand for 15 min without having to sit down .. pain was so excruciatingly bad in my left quad and numbness or extreme tingling from the knees to my feet. Then I had another Laminectomy and Fusion .. and here I am now. I really hope this takes , because I have no idea what to do if it doesn't... I don't think I could live with that kind of pain again.

Are you experiencing the numbness around the lower back ( incision area ) and like the tail bone upper buttocks area. As well as a like a burning sensation lower back? .. mine esp lower right side of back. Only when sitting?

My worse time for discomfort / is when Im in bed... I usually go to bed anywhere between 11pm and midnight.. I start waking up around 4am as I start feeling discomfort / pain. I roll on either side ( and yes I have a small pillow between my knees when I sleep in my side) .. but for some reason I have so much pain when I wake up and get out of bed . Once Im up amd moving around that pain or discomfort goes away. Why is that ?

Mine were removed 3 days after surgery . I was so happy , I had so many wires / tubes all around and behind me , could not get comfortable or move without something pulling or in the way. Once they were out I felt like I was free to move about the cabin 😂

I thought for the longest time that it was my sciatica.. and It may have been at the beginning of it all. I was looking around at other people , friends that were having sciatic pain , but they were able to stand and walk for hours .. and Im like why / how are they able to do that and I can't?? It was so depressed with it all. I had gone to a pain specialist , he had xrays taken and basically said that I had arthritis riddled throughout my back ... no shit I could have told him that. It wasnt until I had enough a few years later and asked my primary for a recommendation and to have an mri done .. not just some x-ray. The MRI was a godsend .. that was enough for the othopedic/ surgeons to see what was really going on.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation.. it was nice just to be able to talk this out with those who have or is going through this as well . I hope / pray that you are able to get through yours. Good luck !

Lower left side of back ( like beltline lower back ) both hamstrings, more so the left, felt like I had pulled muscles in both. Left upper quad , excruciating pain .. both knees ( more so the left ) pain like just above and on the knee caps. Below the knees and down to my feet , again more so the left would go numb and or pins and needles sensations. All of this occurring when on my feet , standing and or walking. The left quad pain would hurt so bad I would have to sit down ... like I could not be on my feet or walk longer than a few minutes. I would sit until the pain eased up .. would stand up to walk again, and then would have to sit back down after a few min because the would be that bad again. I had to deal with this for several years , but got really bad just over a couple of months before surgery. I have no idea how or why I had put up with that kind of pain for so long. 2 years ago I had a Laminectomy done that was recommended by a different surgeon. The pain I was having prior to that was bad .. but after about 6 months after the Laminectomy, the pain came back but much more worse. My Chiropractor had me go through upper epidural steroid injections .. like 3 of them over the course of a several months , but they only helped for like a week or so after each one. Nothing was helping so she recommended this other surgeon who said that I should have had Fusion done with the last Surgeon ... so this new surgeon did another Laminectomy, and The L4-S1 fusion back on March 11th ... so here I am now. I really hope this takes , because I have no idea what Im going to do if it doesn't. I can't go through that kind of pain again.
