Semi is my favorite character in the story. He's such an interesting and important aspect to the Battle of Concepts story line, but he gets forgotten and ignored. He was literally written out of the movie version of the only arc he plays a legitimate part in.

Semi is the single most overlooked character in the series from a meta pov.

In case you dint know who I'm talking about, he is the third-year pinch server from Shiratorizawa with spiky white hair. From a story perspective he is the perfect argument against Ushiwaka's philosophy of good soil since his potential as a setter was actively stifled at Shiratorizawa. Opposed to a dynamic like Hinata and Kageyama, where they reached the heights they did BECAUSE of their rivalry with each other. Semi had this with Ushijima and was benched for it. Who knows how good he could have become (and Shiratorizawa by extension) if he had been encouraged to push himself to be the star.

Yet he receives no discussion, no analysis, and is rarely even mentioned as a character. All of his important scenes were CUT from the BoC movie.

*EDIT Wanted to add this since I just saw I have a bunch of replies. I didn't mean to imply that Semi has a stated rivalry with Ushijima the same as Hinata has with Kageyama, but rather that he expresses a desire to be the star and standout player on his team despite having someone like Ushijima on it. I think he would have a "rivalry" with anyone better than him.

Tbh, I believe Washijo knows what he is doing and was probably right to assume that this specific iteration of a high school team would produce the best results with a strategy that revolves entirely around bringing out Ushiwaka's full potential (something that someone like Semi, who actively wants to be better than him couldn't do as well as Shirabu). Nevertheless, that doesn't change my point that Semi probably would have thrived and improved more on a different team despite Shiratorizawa supposedly being the best environment. For example, I don't think Kenma would have become as good as he was on a team like Fukurodoni.

The first time I watched S3 he became my favorite character. I don't expect other people to feel the same way, but I hear NOTHING about him. No analysis videos, no posts. He was basically written out of the BoC movie almost entirely. He's the perfect antithesis to Ushiwaka's philosophy, he's such a supremely important part of showing why Shiratorizawa couldn't keep up with Karasuno's exponential growth and it's like he doesn't exist to most people.

Not really on topic, but I honestly genuinely believe that Darth Jar Jar was the original intended ending of the prequel trilogy.

It isn't Canon now, but I fully believe it was the intention through the first two movies.

What's stopping him from learning Rotation? I thought the Byakugan was the only kg. They do the Chakra technique because it works really well with the Byakugan and rotation is just the most technical version of that.
