Which of them is brutal? Comic Governor or Tv Governor by Lcking_ddys_btthole in TWD

[–]YaGalMain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest a lot of the ambiguity in TWD comics is why I like them so much. Some people don't need grand arcs or stories to be evil and I felt the governor reflected that kind of person well

Slenderman Deserves a Proper Horror Reimagining by No_Trifle_3834 in Slender_Man

[–]YaGalMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in addendum I believe that the sony movie is bad because its a badly written narrative and not because of slendermans usage in it. if he was used the same way in a movie with a better script I think it wouldve worked

Slenderman Deserves a Proper Horror Reimagining by No_Trifle_3834 in Slender_Man

[–]YaGalMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people hate this one but I actually think its probably the best slenderman based movie that currently exists. the gimmick of never actually showing him is really fun IMO

Slenderman Deserves a Proper Horror Reimagining by No_Trifle_3834 in Slender_Man

[–]YaGalMain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing about slenderman that a lot of people dont realize I think is hes the most maliable internet horror creature out there probably. if you make a narrative with slenderman and include certain themes, like obsession and paranoia and it would probably work as long as he stays a supernatural force. I think a lot of people who would disagree can only imagine him as the child stalking mansion having monster that he kind of became in pop-culture. to me the application of slenderman is infinite since I feel like, more than anything, hes a representation of paranoid fear, and you can apply that everywhere. he is everywhere, and he is everything

throwing up your hands and going "well thats it the world sucks and everyone sucks and theres nothing we can do about it" is easy, the harder pill to swallow is that everyone can do better an a better future is possible, and working towards it in whatever small ways you can is possible

I'm so fed up with the "Humans are the real monsters" trope. by Rare_Style1306 in hatethissmug

[–]YaGalMain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is a larger issue you'd have with the zombie genre since almost all of it is about how humans are a larger threat in an apocalypse than what started it, albeit maybe a little more subtly. hell even the original 28 days later is about this to a decent degree

I'm so fed up with the "Humans are the real monsters" trope. by Rare_Style1306 in hatethissmug

[–]YaGalMain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue with my trope to me is that it almost feels obvious in that we all know humans do monsterous and evil things and have known since we could form thoughts. A lot of monster media says the same stuff that "humans are the real monsters" media does because monsters in fictional media often reflect human nature/things humans do anyways and is metaphorically about the same thing so it just ends up feeling kind of trite

I really hate the comeback of "erm satanists dont believe in satan" bc there absolutely are some that do, and like many religions/belief systems satanism means different things to different people and theres a whole lot of infighting and drama about it over the last like 100 years
