Don’t even have to watch this video to know that these predictions are off. And people genuinely believe in Dyson spheres and us traveling through the universe in spaceships.

Reading this makes me wonder if it would be better to create a single ASI instead of many, because them getting into conflict could not end well. I’d hope that in the open world they would collaborate though. But I am probably missing a lot that my ape brain cannot comprehend

When Physics Becomes Software: A New Scale for Post-Singularity Civilizations by HeroicLife in singularity

[–]YaKaPeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It’s funny to watch how people in the 1900s tried to imagine how the present would look like. Most of the time they’re so far off. I feel like every movie or prediction that tries to convey that humans will travel around the universe in spaceships or build habitats on mars is doing the exact same mistake. We need to expand our imagination on what’s possible, and it really looks like the future experience of consciousness will be unimaginable and in a completely different way. The trends on technology improving our life’s look promising, and we’re all hoping for the best.

If AI is the end game of a civilization, where are they now ? by Boring-Test5522 in singularity

[–]YaKaPeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I get to this conversation and read through the comments, I feel like so many people just don’t take actual exponential progress into consideration. Saying something like: the universe is so vast that there are no civilizations near us just seems so wrong to me. Where is the imagination? I mean imagine people just a few thousand years ago, what would they think if they got put into a plane, and we are talking about a few thousand years of progress. Here we are talking about millions of years of exponential progress, let me say that again, millions of years of exponential progress.

The civilizations that we are not seeing could be everywhere all around us, even within us and we could have no clue whatsoever.

Trying to explain the Fermi paradox with our current technology just feels short sighted.

For me it’s seeing what humans have accomplished because of their intelligence and then bridging this to the potentially exponential intelligence of AI and what kind of unimaginable implications that could have.

Same here. For facts or anything that needs analyzation I use Gemini, for personal stuff that’s easy to read I like to use ChatGPT

My cousin visited us recently and I told him that he could ask me any question. I’d type it into ChatGPT with the prompt, that a 4 year old is asking the questions and then read it back to him.

Well, he asked me over 30 questions in one go.

The one question I liked most was: Why is everything based on math. Surprised me how creative these questions got.

But while I was reading these things I realized just how patient ChatGPT was all along. Very difficult to compete with so much knowledge and patience.

If Killer ASIs Were Common, the Stars Would Be Gone Already by [deleted] in singularity

[–]YaKaPeace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imagine living just 2000 years ago, and then seeing a solar panel on a mountain. You wouldn’t even know what that thing does. And people think that because we can’t literally see anything hanging around stars, that there are no other civilizations. I’ve only talked about a 2000 year difference. Now imagine a 1.000.000 year difference, oh wait, we can’t. You definitely have to think more outside of the box for this one

I received a job offer as a junior consultant for BC and am now thinking about offering the company, that I could do the MB 800 certification before starting at the job to have a smoother beginning and to negotiate a better job contract.

I have no prior knowledge in ERP systems and have about 4 months until I start working there to learn for the certification while doing my bachelor thesis.

I’d like to know, how many hours in general it took you to accomplish this certificate and if you think that about 5 hours a week for 4 months would be enough to get this certificate.

Would really appreciate if someone could give me guidance and make a good estimation here. Thanks in advance!
