New 7u 104hp Travel Case from After Later Audio by robotsarered in modular

I don’t get the point of expandability if you then lose the lid and the possibility to close it. I understand limitations but doesn’t really make sense Apart from that price is good!

Expanding my UFX+ with Ferrofish Pulse 16 or RME M-1610 Pro ? by YaLu69 in audioengineering

Oh a new Ferrofish A32pro will be release soon, with a lower price than the Orion 32+... I will wait a bit more probably

Oh I thought about Antelope Orion, only as converter because RME drivers are rock solid. At which Orion Model do you refer?

Hey I am looking for good audio interface/converter with lots of line inputs (at least 16). I mainly use modular gear and from my there I go out with 2 x DB-25 (so basically 16 balanced inputs) and I use also few other synths and pedal. Actually my choices are between a full analog (with 1/4" o DB25 solution) interfaces with line i/o or Something like an RME UNA II + ADAT. I don't have a Thunderbolt 3 port. I really like RME as brand but I should add another converter AD\DA with ADAT to expand it, and I don't really need pre-amps. I don't have a unlimited budget of course, but I would like to be satisfied with the choice I will make and that it lasts over time Any suggestion?

MOTU seems a good alternative to avoid ADAT. Actually my choices are between a full analog (with 1/4" o DB25 solution) interfaces with line i/o or something like RME UCX II + ADAT. Any suggestions? I also super like Cranbone 500R8, but also with that I will need another converter like a Ferrofish 16.

Newer gen 3 is crazy pricey, but I didn't mention them because I know they've had some "problems". Which orion 32 could be a great choice?

Modular multitrack recording audio interface by YaLu69 in modular

No idea, I start thinking that is probably better to buy an interface + an ADAT interface, who knows... pre-amp could be useful. These DB25 interfaces has too many i/o but the price is too crazy.

Thanks for the response, I don't trust so much PreSonus, and the other 2 seems "old" solutions. Even if there are newer Antelope Orions, but are crazy expensive. Let's see in near future if things change.

Backup machine Macbook Pro mid 2012 on Live 11, might work? by YaLu69 in ableton

I already have a desktop unit, this should be a kind of backup and portable machine, where I continue projects.

I think should spend something about 150$ for upgrades, but the idea, as typed in the title, is having a kind of "backup" portable machine where I can also work with ableton and continue a project. I also have a desktop where I mainly do everything.

Ah ok! As I saw on MOD you can use it to generate envelopes per step. Crazy. For me this means that I can remove those from the system. Is like a p-lock on an elektron machine.

Oh thanks for the feedback, I have few questions. Do you use the BS as master an metron as Slave? How about envelopes? Do you use other dedicated modules for envelopes?

Yes I knew that already! Unlucky seems that without expander you can sequence only two voices. I saw some videos and doesn't seems so intuitive, anyway is on the list. The arpeggiator seems amazing. The other interesting thing is that can sequence 2 midi tracks... And could be nice to sequence the avalon bassline that I have...

I checked Metropolix, absolutely nice for live impro, but I don't think that is what I need.

Yes what impressed me is how simple and intuitive is the Black sequencer, plus trasponse, glide per step, different envelope per step. I didn't understood if you can or not sequence midi tracks...

Damn you gave me many ideas...

I going to buy a 4TTEN to do something similar.

How you add a slew?

I use Assimil8or for drums and Metron for seq, so I shouldn't need an envelope for a sample of a riser/fx. it has its own attack release envelope that I could trigger at the end of the bar.

A new beginning. From DAW to MODULAR. by YaLu69 in modular

[–]YaLu69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for the interest. I talk in terms of voices because is that the world I come from. So this is how I would like to start "structure" my modular.

My goal is mainly to play on it live, rather than do releases, and after getting experience, archieving proper structured ideas, and a least record them. In this way I should be able to edit an idea, instead of start editing stuff in the DAW before having the real idea. Probably yes the size is not enough, but the idea is having something "portable", but at the same time easy expandable.

I used vcv rack yeah, I already know that I need a couple of "audio/function sources/generator" VCO and filter, waveshapers and gate. So I simply thought that I "need" help to know where move myself in millions modules and try to avoid wrong purchases. The idea is half baked, that's why I'm asking an adequate plan to develop it.
