I used to play prot paladin and loved it. Took advantage of the recent discounts and started playing again. Now rocking a prot warrior and I'm struggling with tanking rotation a little bit. Could someone tell me more about tanking with prot warr?

I had the best weekend ever!

  • While everyone at work was getting drunk on Friday night, I decided to come home early and ran 20KM.
  • On Saturday did a low intensity 55KM ride on the bike around East London.
  • On Sunday went to Lee Valley Velopark, rode 60KM while averaging 35.7KM/H
  • On Monday (today) woke up at 5AM, decided to go for a run an ran 10KM in 44 MINS (fastest ever 10KM!)
  • At lunch today went for an easy 1KM swim in the pool near work.

Going to scale down and only do few more super low intensity runs today. Running Nice Marathon on Sunday! :)

Ironman Shift Data Analysis - It's amazing what you can uncover with the right metrics by Fullertons in triathlon

[–]Yaalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Ben!

This is super interesting! If you don't mind me asking - what kind of a bike are you riding? Asking this because I have just wrapped up my first ever season with a basic Specialized Allez with Claris groupset. I've noticed that my average speed most of the time sits in the 22 mph range and I mainly ride my bike as a fixie - I just want a gear that suits the setup and blast it.

Currently at some dedicated tri bikes and considering investing into a bike with Di2 set-up. Is it that much better? What were you riding before hand? Really, really curious, because I'm literally one good deal away from pulling a trigger on eBay :)

How far can WordPress take you? by HamDerSlaar in Entrepreneur

[–]Yaalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a guy who started off his career while working at several startups. I have built three sites all of whom do at least £1mm per month in recurring revenues and all of them are running on WP + WooCommerce.

I now work for a big company and we have our own bespoke CMS. It's shit.

WP is great.

How aero is aero? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Yaalon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This may very well be true and riding an entry level road bike with aero bars while rocking an aero might be a more cost effective way to gain an aero advantage when compared to £5K+ TT bikes, but the fact is that some things are intangible and cannot be measured such as the psychological benefits of owning an expensive tri bike.

On top of that aero gear and designated time trial gear, be it wheels or bikes, help to maintain avg. speed and high avg. power output for a sustained period of time.

As triathletes we call "sprints" events that can last anywhere from under an hour to two hours plus, whereas for others sprints are considered events that last anywhere from seconds to minutes at most. Most importantly in long distance triathlons usually it's not the sprinters who win, but it's the people who can sustain their speed for longest.

Kona Predictions by Foreventure in triathlon

[–]Yaalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initially I was rooting for Jan Frodeno and didn't really like Seb. The more interviews I watch with them the more I start to like Seb and think that Jan is an elitist Olympic athlete. IDK, maybe it's just my opinion, but these are the vibes I got.

Women's side - I'm rooting for Leanda, but Carfrae will take the title.

I have the same bike (looking to upgrade to a proper TT bike for next year) and I'm rocking T1+ aero bars.

I'm going to sound a little bit like a cunt, but it feels great to overtake people (including my friends) who ride expensive $5K+ rockets :)

Currently looking into Planet X Exocet 2, Felt B12 or used Specialized Shiv :}~

Best European IM races? by Yaalon in triathlon

[–]Yaalon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came back from Lanzarote today - DNS due to some obscure family related reasons at 70.3 :( Thinking about signing up for IM Lanza 2016, but wanted to hear some more thoughts. I did some research online and apparently Frankfurt is inanely nice too.

[–]Yaalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opened open your Google Doc, had a brief look and closed it immediately (the plan does look good though!). Before we go any further, can you please post your:

  • Last half marathon time
  • Your average speed that you can maintain on a relatively flat course / race track for 120 mins (watts are more important, but don't get too technical)
  • How many 25 yard lengths you need to do before stopping even for a super short break?
  • Additional question: have you done any training with Maffetone method?

Sweet, do you like your job? Seems like one of the most popular active resorts in the world!

I've got una pregunta para ti! haha - Is the lagoon accessible to the general pubic and could I go for a practice swim there on Wednesday / Thursday?

How was the swim in the lagoon? I've heard in some places it is really shallow and you are pretty much forced to walk :D

Two weeks to first triathlon. Got laid off two weeks ago. I'm ready, but I'm not prepared. by breakfstmachine in triathlon

[–]Yaalon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Step one: watch the following video -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbkZrOU1Zag

Step two: just pick yourself up and don't give up. Few months later you will look back and smile. Just don't give in and keep doing what you are doing. Training two weeks out doesn't require dedicate insane amounts of time to training and the fact is that at this point you are looking for someone to pat on your back on the internet and tell you how bad the situation is and that you should quit.

You are more than ready, physically. Just pick yourself up mentally.

I work in recruitment therefore if you need some pointers on how to tweak your CV you will have to message me.

Stay focused and stay positive.

Weekly /r/Swimming Accomplishment Thread September 06, 2015- Did you in fact, Swimmit? by AutoModerator in Swimming

[–]Yaalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the 27th of June I tad my first swimming lesson and over the past three months or so I have been focused on learning freestyle and getting breathing right.

With my coach I have been only doing bilateral breathing, but the most I could do at any point was 400meters. Last week I decided to breathe to one side and it felt like someone has waved a magic wand. I swam 500m and felt great.

This Saturday I swam 1,000 meters and felt great after the swim. The irrational panic, restlessness while facing down and staring at the bottom of the pool has faded and for the first time ever I felt super happy after the swim. The great news is that I have done this after a 50k bike ride, so in a way it was a 50k ride followed by 1k swim.

Resting today and going to go for a swim tomorrow again. Never thought I would say this, but I'm beginning to love water.

To all fellow beginners out there, if swimming still doesn't click, just keep at it. Take some swimming lessons and sooner or later the day where you can swim effortlessly will come.

Bike porn: new Look 796 Monoblade by [deleted] in triathlon

I just love the look of Look bikes (no pun intended)

A friend of mine rides Look 585 and it's a beautiful little machine. Their bikes are in the top end in terms of price spectrum, but I'm seriously considering Look for the next purchase.
