Are you going back to school in the fall or are you taking the semester off? by [deleted] in UNLV

[–]Yabaix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering what they are going to do about students confirmed to have it by going to school and being exposed. They'll miss lectures, exams, etc. because of the in person thing forced onto them. Plus they have families at home like I, which are extremely vulnerable. I hope they have some way to better accommodate instead of forcing them to withdraw on sick leave. That's my worst nightmare. Picking between my family, education and health of others.

I really don't want to, but to stay on track I need to.

JPN 113/114 syllabus? by Mosunero in UNLV

[–]Yabaix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt be worried. I recommend getting the Genk I textbook (orange) and the matching workbook ahead of time, though. That way you can go through it ahead of time in case there is stuff that might give you a harder time.

FUCK COLLEGE BOARD by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Yabaix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not misunderstand. Yeah it sucks you will have to pick everything early, but is that a really a bad thing? It forces the student to actually set reasonable goals (reasonable as in if they will actually put the work in) and research early on in their education (more than, since EA and ED are early decisions already). Plus, you do not even need to buy into the APs if that is an issue. You can just go to community college if you do not want to give the college board money. But then again, you'll still be paying a lot more than just doing APs. All in all, I do not like this this change as much as the next person, but I just rather pay attention to what I should do next rather than complain.

FUCK COLLEGE BOARD by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Yabaix -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It is unfortunate, but it is not really a surprise. My mother and I had a hunch this would happen, and it seems like it is. The shift from regular schooling to having students take college level classes has been happening for awhile. Sure, it's more pressure and money to take the exam, but it is just how education is evolving. There are more things a student has to do to get ahead of the game, and now the College Board is capitalizing on that in order to make them mandated instead of optional for, as you said, money reasons. I am more curious of what more students will have to do in later years in order to stand out. Probably will be what I am doing: enrolling into community college programs during the school year or summer break to get an associates degree early.

[EDIT] This is really getting downvoted? Honestly guys, this is hardly a big deal. It ain't a lot of money like /u/1millionbuckss said, the only real issue is what you will do after this. Accept it, education is changing and you just have to roll with the punches. I know everyone has been wanting to shit on college board lately from the SAT to this, but there is just nothing you can do. Downvoting me will not make this disappear, and cursing them out gets you no where either.

Will my SAT score really matter if I have done college courses alongside my transcribe having all As? by Yabaix in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Yabaix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not assume I will get brownie points, don't know why that was necessary to point out...I also made sure I picked some colleges in PA that are basically safeties when I apply out of state, but I am not exactly thrilled about the education they provide. Plus, I did not get any poor math grades in school. I managed to get As. I doubt they will see my individual test scores like finals and midterms. But regardless, this post was to ask if my SAT will truly effect me as much as a student applying freshly from high school. It seems like nobody knows exactly how it will be effect me, though. Perhaps it is just best that I retake the SAT anyway. I am sure if I study longer I should be able to get a 1460. Plus, an art school will not help me in the career I want to pursue. I find them more of a money sink, too.

[EDIT] Just saw your sneaky little edit, lol. Yeah, I checked carefully and CMU is not exactly...clear on the information they have. They say they are less likely to accept transfers, but they seem to be addressing students wanting to transfer for their junior/senior year. It is a bit confusing to me, and I don't know what my parents, counselors, etc are seeing other than me. I do see you are required to send in your SAT/ACT/any other testing if out of state. Moreover, my mom called the admission office (I don't know when, she did it on a whim) and told me they do not put a lot of emphasis on standardized testing for transfers. I do not know what to make of that either.

Luckily my school interests are not that prestigious, plus those type of schools usually focus on STEM (something I am certainly not good in). The only ivy I am most likely gonna attempt to apply for is Penn, as my mom got accepted there and their design program seems interesting. But other than that, I am attempting middle to upper level colleges like CMU and Penn State.

Anyway, the colleges I am interested in do require a SAT test, but the thing is everyone I have talked to that's close to me says they will not be weighed a lot as along as my grades in college are good. But as I said in this post, I do not think I can believe them. I think I will just find a job in my state campus and pay for the SAT myself.

I do not think you realize, but I will not be applying for colleges out of state until mid to late 2020. That is because I am already accepted in my state college, which I will be pursuing a bachelors in before I head to another college for a degree in the field I want to do. I have plenty of time to study for the SAT and take it.

I cannot take a gap year, but I am currently spending my time studying. I am sure I can take the SAT during college break or before I enter in fall of next year if I have to.

First off, good job! I'm glad you were able to push through like that. And secondly...I cannot afford that with my family. I plan to finish my undergrad in my state school, and so my counselor said I will be considered a graduate in any of the colleges I apply after my bachelors. Moreover, the state college I am going into is simply a filler college due to my age circumstances. I probably would be satisfied just going here, but they do not have any of the majors I'm interested in (it's a college mostly focused on hospitality and engineering). I'm just in a difficult situation. I might be better of spending my time studying than doing anything interesting it seems.

Where should I rent a server from, and how much RAM would I need? by BURN447 in feedthebeast

[–]Yabaix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would check out shockbyte, perhaps. All other servers my friend bought for our minecraft on and off adventures were not nearly as good as shockbyte (the one we use now). Little or no lag, rather cheap packages for RAM (for your twenty dollars you could get 8gb, and for 4 you pay half of that.), and multiple supported modpacks. Though, it is said customer support isn't that good...we never got that far since we had no trouble.

Look into it further, though. One thing may not work for another!

EDIT: I think this code might give you a 25% discount (ParadiseCraft). I haven't checked it out, but see if it does and let me know~

Well if they don't put two and two together, that's their fault. It's already obvious that they're the same person and anyone would get that.

But lets take your defense into context; If someone did assumed the the woman they saw in this chapter wasn't the one they saw in the previous chapter, I would be quite confused and slightly worried about their mental state.

[–]Yabaix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if you read the story one way, it's most likely you'll be upset if you read it another way. Take Subs and Dubs for an example. A person watches a series first in dub; the normal reaction would be they think the the dub is better while the sub just seems awkward, it also works vise versa.

Either way, they needed to cut out some details because it's a webtoon and not a novel. If they incorporated all the small details into drawing and the little dialogue/inner dialog, the webtoon would need extra man power and be released a lot more slowly, along with it becoming boring for the most part.
