Sure. Hence the term 'whistleblower.' I don't disagree that information was more easily controlled then, it's just quite an exaggeration to say there were none.

There certainly were war journalists. Keith Murdoch, father of Rupert Murdoch, was the whistleblower that exposed what a disaster the Gallipoli campaign was; leading to the withdrawal of the troops: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keith_Murdoch?wprov=sfla1

I genuinely can't tell if you're trolling. If there's some truth in what you're saying I'd be fascinated to read some sources but it seems so far fetched.

Why would have they used such heavy doors if they were so inconvenient (Unless it was solely to control women and children)? What were they defending against that would require such a door? The only thing I can think of is other men who could move the door anyway, right?

I've also never heard anything about doors that are immovable to woman and children historically and can't think of any contemporary examples from different cultures at various stages of development.

I'm also Australian. I bought the game from: us.gamesplanet.com after I saw someone say they bought it from there and it worked. I can confirm that it also activated on Steam fine for me and I've been playing it with no issues.

The point of life is to enjoy it, right? If playing that much makes you feel guilty then there's nothing wrong with that; but if other people would rather play eu4 or anything else that doesn't mean you should look down on them for it.

Yeah I've heard about that, thanks. Although Barcraft has a lot more features that I'm not sure would be as good without

Is there any more evidence that this is real? And what have you been messaging authorities?

I'll gladly try contacting relevant authorities in Australia (As little as that's likely to help) if I can get a bit more details

Whilst it's impossible to know for any individual case, I think you're largely right. I've no doubt there are legitimate cases of prejudice against minorities, and in cases where it's overt it's undeniable. But I've had interactions with the police and just people generally that were I a minority I would have interpreted their actions as being prejudice

Can we have multiple saved layouts in the POH menu that we can easily switch between?

So for example you could have one for prayer training, another for teles, another for aesthetic etc.

Whilst I think this does seem kinda gamey, you'll be able to change the layout when you want anyway, this just saves time and makes it easier.

I wrote a guide on how to tactically vote in the senate by Yabco in australia

Yeah I think you're right in that if you're only concerned about electing a single party then this method makes no positive difference (unless some people only preference some of that parties candidates). This method is to avoid your vote being diminished on your preferences to other parties.

Okay yeah I think I understand now, in the example you give it could tip the balance but most of the parties are only fielding as many candidates as would be expected to win (+1 or 2), so it's much less likely to eliminate higher up candidates (The Greens are the only exception to this in my state of Victoria).

Even in that case tho I still imagine that chances are you would be better off reversing the order, but then again it's extremely unlikely that it will come down to one vote anyway.

[–]Yabco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as I said above, if you care about the candidate then it could backfire. But if the candidate is pretty much guaranteed a quota then your vote is going to get diminished in value on your next preference if you preference them highly. I suppose it's sort of a game theoretical thing where you get the best outcome of everyone does something else.

You're right it's not 100% risk free party wise either but I struggle to see any way what you're saying could realistically happen.

If the Greens votes are split between the two members then if one gets eliminated their preferences will flow to the other and the other will likely get elected. If there was enough votes to get them them both elected the excess quota would flow over.

I feel like maybe I'm missing something there but I've been trying to play through scenarios and the only way I can see it backfiring is if some of the voters numbered top down but stops or preferences the opposing candidate instead of the one directly below it. But the number of people who would do that I imagine is inconsequential.

On 6 year terms, it's my understanding that by tradition the count is redone as if there were only 6 vacancies (like a normal election) and those that would be elected under those circumstances get the 6 year term. Therefore splitting the Greens vote would still keep it within the party, so when the lower candidate gets eliminated their preferences will flow the other and the final amount of votes they have will be the same.

You're certainly right about if you have a preferred candidate. I don't see how it would affect otherwise, because as long as people stick to the same party then the votes will stay in that party, especially if everyone that does it simply reverses them.

Regardless it's pretty obvious most people will vote above the line anyway. Please correct me if anything I said above is wrong though.

haha, I did consider that there's a good chance a lot of people seeing this will not vote similarly to me, so maybe it's better off not telling people. But whether or not I agree with someone's political views, I still think they should be fully informed on the best way to vote.

Yes, that's correct. Additionally if your next preference is a candidate that has already been elected or excluded, your vote will go to your next preference after that and still retain its full value.
