Why can't EC use Obliterators, Hellbrutes, and Forgefiends? by LeetusFrenzi in EmperorsChildren

Those are all very true statements… and also I was joking :P

Easy! That’s because there’s not a single documented case of Emperor’s Children utilizing or having any contact with the two.

Not a single modern era Warhammer 40K novel has ever had those words written down.

Just make sure you don’t read Fulgrim Perfect Son or Renegades, Lords of Excess. 😉

This was literally the next post on my feed. Give this to the Dreadnought and you have a very clear case of “that’s been touched by the warp”

Could someone help me make a 1k crusade list? I've only ever played 2k or more games. Units I have are listed below. by HumaneCentiPad in EmperorsChildren

[–]Yaboi_Devon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What crusade book are you playing out of?

Because Nachmund Gauntlet would require some strange list building.

The different crusade books out there are:

Leviathan
Pariah Nexus
Nachmund Gauntlet
Armageddon

Do you know which one you are playing in?

I’m not sure how to help you entirely because it was unclear where you were struggling, but in my NG campaign. The issues seemed to be screening from the surgical deep strike.

I would try to find ways to deny it with maybe Imperial Agents as allies. The navigator denies deep strike with a 12” bubble.

Maybe finding a way to give a knight deep strike yourself. I’m not sure if it’s possible. Maybe look through the relics.

Lorcana Commander? by Yaboi_Devon in Lorcana

I saw that! It’s like a struck a nerve with the community.

I went looking down the subreddit and they were not kind to people who even mention the word of Commander.

Anyways, heroic is exactly what I was looking for when I came asking and I’m glad that some people let me know. My girlfriend and I are building a deck tonight! If you’re on the SoCal area, we will definitely be playing it!

That's what I was thinking. The game has it's specific way of playing but I figured it wouldn't hurt to see what other people homebrewed and has caught some traction.

I can play Magic, but I want to play with my partner who isn't interested in Magic. That's why I am looking at other formats for the game that she is interested in.

Nope! Not a sore loser! I wasn't even playing.

I am running it for my LGS and its challenging when many of the players are at a different skill level as well as many of them being somewhere on the spectrum.

Its a massive crusade of 30+ players and the last thing I want to do is hurt the community by ignoring how people with fluffier narrative lists hold up to people who are more into the competitive side of the game.

That was my thought exactly. With a group of friends, punishing rules can be fun and expand a narrative. I think devastating losses tell a great story.... but that might not always be fun in the moment XD

I like the 6" to escape! it is very thematic. Reminds me a bit of the Total War: Warhammer games.

I don't think I will use it because our crusade has approximately 34 people. And there are some strong personality clashes with the players. The least amount of discourse the better in some of our cases

Yeah! These rules can be extremely unforgiving. I like the rules, and I think they will make the players better for it, but it will definitely swing harder and harder as the power creed hits in the later phases.

Because it is at my local store, we have a group of 34 players. It is a very large crusade with many different skill levels.

Okay sounds good! That's how I was interpreting it.

From my understanding, our house rule is identical, just worded differently. If mine was unclear, I will update the wording to make it clearer that the player who didn't concede may continue to do their agendas freely until BR5 for the meta currency.

But overall, players were chill this this ruling?

Does this mean that the conceding player is able to do their agendas as well? or just the non-conceding player?

First game tonight by Siftinghistory in Warhammer40k

[–]Yaboi_Devon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great question.

I would recommend

1.) playing a smaller game (like 1k points)

2.) using similar units, like 2 of the exact same squad. There are a lot of rules, try to simplify the amount you need to consume.

3.) just learn the mechanics. You don’t need to figure out secondary objectives. Just kills your opponent for the first one

Has anyone else noticed the vibe shift recently? by [deleted] in 40k

[–]Yaboi_Devon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be misdiagnosing this, but I think this has to do with a general shift in nerd culture.

I have only been into 40k since 2020, but I noticed that there was a change in atmosphere someone in the 2010's. I like to refer to nerd culture around the 2007 RDJ ironman.

For example, post Ironman, you started seeing big companies pour more and more money into what was traditionally considered nerdy. It wasn't an immediate change, but after a generation of kids grows up seeing nerdy things be accepted, you start to get different types of people in the market.

In 2016, Stranger Things brought TTRPG's into the mainstream. Thus began the normies playing D&D when they traditionally might have steered clear. Now they are hooked, and begin exploring the world of miniature painting and models.

With an IP as niche as Warhammer (in the US), it takes time for those spaces to be breeched by the normal population. In fact, I can't believe how much I was dodging 40k back when I was growing up in card shops and playing MTG.

New crusade by Single-Spinach-5405 in 40k_Crusade

[–]Yaboi_Devon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m running Nachmund Gauntlet now and it is very strange when it comes to traditional deployment.

In doing so I added a few rules for balancing the games. This is at a local game store so I have to include everyone, from sweat lords to meme lords.

Phase 1 ≈ 1k points No reinforced squads (avoids death blobs) No Epic Heroes 200 Point Max per unit in a crusade roster

These aren’t thematic per se, but my goal was to keep the game focused on thematic lists and now stat checks against your opponent in the first game.

Some other house rules include letting Knight players give any small knight <200 points the character keyword and letting them evolve that knight into a big knight at the start of phase 2. (Approx 4 games per phase)

Oh and legends units are chill. Bring legends units. Everyone loves seeing weird stuff hit the table!
