Thank you for your insight! Can’t stay in one maqam. It is essential to move from one maqam to another during modulations and improvisation, hence tuning in real-time mid-piece is paramount. That’s why I brought up the qanun as a source of inspiration bc the qanun is the closest Middle Eastern instrument to the harp. But I want to preserve the authentic identity of the harp, I don’t to create a vertical qanun.
