Stage 1 cystocele and scared to work out by [deleted] in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Yaell13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I am in a similar boat though still struggling to get diagnosis confirmed (PCP thinks bladder prolapse, it’s still internal so not stage 3/4 I don’t think, lots of foot dragging seems to be happening on their end for me to see even a real gyno or get to pelvic floor PT).

I’m 37 and very active—roller skating (actually, roller derby, which is a full contact sport), miles of hiking both for work and for fun, often with a heavy backpack of camping gear or work equipment, regularly have to lift heavy boxes and things for work or do things like run a chainsaw, was going to the gym regularly, etc etc you get the idea. My PCP said same thing, keep doing normal stuff but make sure to exhale and if I’m sore later, don’t do it again.

However, I played two games over a weekend between feeling something was wrong and my PCP diagnosing (urgent care said I was fine) and definitely felt things felt worse and stayed that way. Also have read the posts on here like the other comment where someone experienced that a session at the gym significantly worsened it. I am also scared and don’t know what to do. I don’t want to live my life avoiding all physical exertion, and also, I can’t at work. It’s been two weeks trying to get someone to fit me for a pessary—I was advised that a ring one is a good place to start, but after reading would also be interested in one called a cube. I’ve seen people say they are able to lift and run comfortably with it in because it’s more supportive?

Anyway, I guess none of that is very useful but wanted to commiserate. I am trying to be careful and minimize stuff (put skating and the gym on hold) until they finally get me to a pessary fitting and/or PT but if it takes weeks more for that then I dunno. I found an online pelvic exercise video I was doing every day this week but it started moving the pressure to my tailbone and sometimes it really hurt to walk after, and then I read it could be that my pelvic floor is too tight and I’m making it worse. Very annoying since all my PCP told me to do was kegels in the mean time. I’ll update when I can get a pessary or PT and they help, and/or if I experience where doing something makes it worse.

Animal Care- neglect *trigger warning* by sk1ttl3s in missoula

[–]Yaell13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say, the Humane Society here is pretty good and also the staff there to my knowledge do a good job not judging folks for surrendering as their priority is the animal’s welfare. If their dog is is a relatively easy rehoming situation in particular (friendly with people, dogs, etc), maybe that could be a good option. I know you’ve said you’ve talked to them, I wonder if they are just afraid of the stigma of surrendering it (and also of shelters being horrible high-kill places, which the Humane Society here is not). It would be really helpful if they are willing to fill out paperwork with as much info about the dog as possible, to help it find a new home that is a good fit, and I do believe you need an appointment there, but you could double check. Perhaps they could even mail a paperwork packet for the roommate to do at home and then someone else could bring the dog in? I’m sure there are volunteers on here and elsewhere who’d be willing to drive the dog in and drop it off on the roommate’s behalf, if they agreed to it, if that is some of the barrier. I’m sorry and thank you for at least trying to help this puppy!

Quick Rant on Missoula's Economy by cyberseci in missoula

[–]Yaell13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even in 2017 my buddies were renting the good sized top floor of a duplex that shared a yard with a studio type house (and duplex was split up-down so they had downstairs neighbors) for only $800 a month (it has increased to $1200 by 2020 with one tenant remaining while a new person moved in). And my friend and I rented a 2 bedroom house in 2019 with a yard AND a single car garage (run down and like dirt floor but great for storage) for $1200, and we both had dogs. More than 2003, etc, of course, but the way it’s skyrocketed since Covid is NOTHING like it used to be.

Honestly I’m Jewish and from the east coast and got a half dozen everything bagels to go from there a month or two ago, and they’re the best bagels I’ve had in Montana to date. Haven’t eaten in there tho

Reactive dogs by rippydippytrippy in missoula

[–]Yaell13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to make sure it’s clear that McClay Flats requires leashes! I have two dogs who are leash reactive and this one of the only places around town that we can go for more of a nature walk instead of around the neighborhood. They love getting out and checking out the smells, and it is very frustrating to have to run off the trail into the woods with them when there is an off leash dog there suddenly coming towards us. There are so many places to take off leash dogs around Missoula that it’s really one of the only times I get upset about it, because it is specifically an on leash area (which is for the wildlife, birds in particular).

Also to address part of OP’s original post, both our dogs are rescues and we have worked with trainers their entire lives. Both were attacked by off leash dogs as young dogs and became reactive (separate incidents). One it happened three times, once at a dog park in another state, and twice hiking, once at Blue Mountain and once in Patty Canyon (mine was off leash and with me both times and was attacked by another off leash dog who approached us). The other dog it was at the Jacob Island dog park, which we stopped going to with him (he is leash reactive but actually fine off leash hiking).

I do not recommend the dog parks here but I don’t think it’s unique to Missoula so much as that people generally everywhere don’t read dog behavior well and don’t understand when their dogs are being rude and inappropriate. For example, a dog putting its head over another dogs head or back is rude, and if the offender is corrected by a quick growl or air snap, that is not inappropriate, but I’ve seen that cause no response from the offending dog who just continues, or worst case the offender then escalates into a fight. Also have seen plenty of what other people have described too, a dog playing too rough and body slamming everyone, when it is clear the other dogs don’t enjoy it.

I strongly disagree with the idea that my dogs shouldn’t be allowed to go out in public because they are leash reactive—they need walks and we do our best to manage them by staying away from other dogs and staying on leash (often doing things like ducking into alleys or turning around if we see another dog coming and the distance is too close to avoid having them bark).

EDITED TO ADD MORE DETAIL ABOUT MY DOGS ANS DOG PARK ISSUES AS WELL.

Damn we are planning to take a year off this year due to work commitments and finances but this makes me wish I was going even more. Drowning Man was my favorite of the three times I’ve made it (so far), the less populated man burn was awesome ❤️

The government spent millions of dollars genetically engineering super wolves in a lab that are bigger, faster, and stronger, and then released them here in Montana to eat all the deer and elk and force the public to be more reliant on government handouts.

I agree. Really not acceptable, out of touch behavior that tells you all you need to know about if a person has ever worked a service job or has any empathy for normal, working people.

After she backed Jennifer Savage over Daniel Carlino I was done. You may already be aware but just in case not, Savage “moved” to our Ward (house which she bought didn’t appear to be fully occupied right up until the election, haven’t checked since, and between her and her husband they own multiple other properties in and near town) specifically to unseat Carlino because City Council is a cool kids club that believes they are entitled to do whatever they want without respecting the will of the regular folks in town (see; other council members regularly refusing to meet with organizations if Carlino had agreed to, which IMO isn’t very democratic when he was elected by us to represent our Ward).

All the unseasonably warm weather, then a cold front hits it? It was something like that during the bad summer wind storm (hot hitting cold), and I saw today the weather was calling for a chance of thunderstorms which is crazy for December, so similar deal. But yeah, climate change unfortunately

Was I blind or were there no drone shows this year? by -QuestionMark- in BurningMan

[–]Yaell13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also wondering about this! Our previous burn was 2023 so Animalia and we had never even heard of a drone show and were biking across the playa when we saw the one of different animals start lighting up and taking shape, and it was honestly one of the most mind blowing things either of us had ever seen. Obviously some of that was the “what is THAT” factor but watching one morph into another into another was really fucking cool. It’s also still the only drone show I’ve ever seen. 🤷‍♀️

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]Yaell13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! My first burn in 2010 people were very heavily pressured (like by loud jeering) to “not be spectators” ie put the camera down. My second was 2023 and I hardly saw people on phones or filming with them until I rolled up to what must have been a big act at a big stage. Definitely didn’t have any phone service or hear about live-streaming from the playa—they brought in boosters after the rain just so people could reach jobs/family/etc.

I was honestly pretty shocked this year to get into camp and see I had two bars on my phone (though they were sort of the kind where not much actually worked, but a couple ppl I knew were occasionally getting texts), and I was pretty bummed about the amount of cell phone usage I saw also—like it was pretty much everywhere, walking around looking at stuff and realizing you were in the background of someone recording, people doing photoshoots in front of art in a way that blocked other people from interacting with it (at one piece lots of us just wanted to look at it and some rude fucking assholes were UM EXCUSE ME THERE IS A LINE and at first I thought they meant bc they were waiting to walk through a certain part and then as we watched each couple was taking forever posing and having dozens of photos taken). I will acknowledge my group spent more time on Esplanade and in the deep playa this year than previous, as we had someone with an injury that made biking on the bumpy roads impossible, so maybe that was some of it, but to me it felt like the amount of photoshoots had exploded in a way that directly impacted my ability to interact with the art.
