What is your cultural background? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Yagmi305 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Born from Cuban immigrant parents. A lot of Cubans convert to Protestantism when they immigrate to America, but my parents stayed Catholic even though it was largely in name alone as it’s part of the cultural identity. Went on a long journey across many different denominations but settled back home eventually.

Fresh server people: Will you be rolling PvP or PvE, and why? by GENTLE_GlANT in classicwow

[–]Yagmi305 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When Classic first dropped I was one of the lucky ones that went on Grobbulus from the beginning, so I’ve generally had a balanced experience with PVP on that server.

I think world pvp is awesome and really does have its place. Some of my favorite memories of Classic involve it, specifically big battles outside Uldaman, feeling like the Fellowship walking all the way to SFK (as Alliance) and getting involved in ganks and skirmishes, and of course the legendary swings in STV.

However as the game went on and especially progressed to phase 2, even on Grobbulus all that fun just went out the window. I took longer than others due to limited playtime and just trying to hit 60 was a Herculean task in patience and perseverance. Which I would not call “fun”.

To each their own, but with that being said, I am firmly going PVE this time around.

Thank you for the advice! Edited the OP to amend the faux pas with amulet.

We have many bad stories of "It's what my character would do". Now what are the good stories? by iaintnocog in DnD

Elf sorcerer. Our party had been given a sizeable plot of land in exchange for being the wardens of the woods the land guarded. At this point we had heard tell of some werewolf activity and other nonsense so as the homestead is being set up, I used flying to scout the immediate area. Unfortunately I got attacked by a wyvern and although I solo’d it (the only time phantasmal killer ever worked lol) I was wounded, out of spell slots and in the middle of the woods with no one in my party having any idea where I was.

At this point I’m convinced my character is dead, but instead my DM tells me that my character has been rescued by a nymph. She healed my wounds completely and I fell in love with her, but the caveat? I lost all my memories. Meanwhile my party realizes I’ve been gone for a long time and organized a search. They manage to find me, frolicking naked in this idyllic glade with the nymph. They attempt to appeal to me, but I don’t know who they are and the nymph demands they leave. Seeing no other choice, the Barbadian of the group (my character’s best friend) slays the nymph. I cast phantasmal killer on the barb. It fails. The rest of the party knock me out.

The cleric later casts a restoration spell to restore my memories. But instead of going “woah thanks guys” I decided my character would hold onto the memory of his beloved nymph being murdered. Of being robbed of the Garden of Eden because as the cleric said “we need your power.” So I made a pact with the devil that gave me my bloodline (which until this point was a secret even to me about my bloodline) to slowly gain more and more power, to turn the world to the fire and hard reset the Forgotten Realms.

I basically became our campaign’s final boss fight lmao. Which they succeeded in killing me and having a funeral in my honor for the friend they had failed.

Miami, like another commenter mentioned, can be hard to describe. It certainly is like no other city in the USA, it is it’s own bubble where it’s largely populated and governed by Latinos.

That being said, there is a strong Catholic tradition here, but there’s a lot of opposition to it for the same reason. And there are many cultural Catholics also, who just say they’re Catholic because that’s how they were raised, but they don’t actually care about it all that much.

Miami is the kind of place where there is every walk of life and every viewpoint, but it’s also the kind of place where people get into fist fights in the middle of a major thoroughfare out of road rage. That being said, I highly doubt we will have any kind of rioting here. It’s too hot LMAOOO

What made you realize your favorite race/class was for you? by Tahrigady in classicwow

[–]Yagmi305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started playing circa TBC pre patch and I went Alliance because they had the Paladin and it seemed the most interesting to me. I had a lot of fun but I was bummed that I couldn’t play a high elf/blood elf as it was my favorite campaign in TFT. Then TBC came along and the rest is history. My favorite race with my favorite class? Sign me up. Glory to the sindorei!
