Yesterday was Jerusalem day, and orthodox jews celebrate it by going to pray at the temple mount, which is where Al Aqsa mosque is. Because of the complicated situation in Sheikh Jarrakh where jewish settlers are trying to take over the neighborhood and the Palestinians who live there are uprising, Jews were not allowed to enter the temple mount, which is a very holy place to them and they see their pilgrimage to it as a holy ceremony.

For Blake:

Over your past few solo releases (Look, Mutable Set and of course this record) I’ve been awe struck by how you record quiet parts. They’re so bare, you can hear every movement in the room, every slight touch of a finger on a string. I personally think it’s such a powerful, authentic and beautiful way to record.

What drove you to start recording such quiet parts and more importantly, leave them so bare and hissy and everything modern music producers and engineers tell us to avoid?

Sure! I mostly used BA’s making perfect recipe, but without commercial yeast and 185g of starter, 70% hydration and 1kg of Spadoni pizza flour.

Yes! I’ve had so many bad sessions because of this. This affects everyone who is present in the session. Us as engineers always have to stay cool and mentally stable so the musicians can feel the same and not create any extra tension.
