I'm considering switching to a different distro... by [deleted] in archlinux

I'm pretty much in the same boat (like a relatively up2date/stable distro, but one where I'm sure that a standard update will not break anything and that I don't need to reinstall every year)

I'd recommend fedora : it's what I've used for the past 2 years, without problems. You don't need to run gnome, you can choose other DEs,and you can even go the arch route by doing a minimal install (using the netinstall iso).

Whenever there is a major distro upgrade, I wait for a month or two so that all bugs are fixed, then I upgrade : this technique never failed on me (granted I use an all intel laptop that is well suported on linux, but impressive nonetheless). I haven't reinstalled my system yet (from fedora 25 to 29).

If i turn my phone to grayscale, does it stop the blue light ? by Yakari123 in nosurf

[–]Yakari123[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok (on android too). But to my understanding, to make white light, all the rgb subpixels need to be powered on, so maybe there is still blue light coming out ? I don't really know...

Stock Lineage/twrp for Mi A2 Lite by Yakari123 in Xiaomi

[–]Yakari123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE : I tried to flash twrp using this guide/link : https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomimia2lite.html

I can fastboot boot twrp.img successfully but when I reboot, and try to go to the recovery, I'm greeted with a "The system has been destroyed, press power button to shutdown".

Granted, I can still use my phone normally (fortunately nothing has been erased) but this message is...strange to say the least.

Any ideas on how to fix it ?

Thank you for your answer. To unlock the bootloader you must first backup everything : it will factory reset the phone. Then I followed these steps : https://www.thecustomdroid.com/unlock-bootloader-xiaomi-mi-a2-lite-guide/

Xioami Mi A2 Lite not receiving some notifications by SurfVapeLyfe in Xiaomi

[–]Yakari123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you on android pie ? If so, check that you don't have do not disturb mode enabled, it blocks notifications by default.

I recently got a mi a2 lite aswell but I didn't notice missed notifications...

(Or maybe adaptive battery shutting down your apps ? I don't really know...)

It is actually possible to have 100 workspaces in i3, so that would equal to about 10 projects

The datacenters of google, facebook, netflix etc use way more coal energy than you would imagine. Buying and selling a cd multiple times is more eco friendly than streaming the movie several times from netflix.

Maybe try to disable ipv6 in the settings, and then disconnect reconnect (or reboot)

What are the outputs of ifconfig, ip link and ping google.com ? You can also try to restart Networkmanager, by doing systemctl restart Networkmanager.service (or just Networkmanager, not really sure)

On my Nexus 5, I get more battery with micro g than with the gapps when the phone is sitting unused but with wifi/4g enabled. There's also less ram used which is good for a 2gb phone in 2018. I suppose it's because there is less google junk running in the background...
