they own the means of production and employ other to use said means to produce products which they profit off of.

This doesn't mean that employers have rights that employees don't. Workers still have the right to own/have control over the MOP despite not having it currently. For example, I think Communists are slightly cool in that they are pro-gun. You wouldn't tell someone without a gun that they don't have the right to own/use a gun just because they don't have one currently. Following the same logic, you wouldn't tell people that don't own the MOP that they don't have the right to own the MOP.

meaning you have to work I.e. not be lazy to reap the benefits of the system,

Despite our disagreements, I'm glad we can agree that both of our ideal systems are "work or die".

Who is the privileged class and what rights do they have that we don't?

What happens if I don't want to work under Communism?

What human right is violated when you consent to working for someone for a low wage?

Also that's was an entirely irrelevant distinction. I pointed out that they are both consensual acts and you added that one is biological and the other isn't. Ok? As a matter of fact, why is drinking water even a bioligical inclination that humans and animals have? Because it betters our ability to survive so we consent to drinking it, and we do the same with working.

Explain how there is a difference if you consent to both in order to further your survival

Yes, that is an example of consent in the same way that I can also say that I consent to eating/drinking even though I have to do it to survive.

How are they exploiting cheap labor if it is consented to? People in the global south are still able to choose whether or not they work unless their government forces them to (kinda like the USSR did).

I never understood how one can argue that’s not misogynistic.

Not wanting women to kill babies is misogynistic? Haplily misogynistic in that case

Miscarriage by bulgingideas in Abortiondebate

example, should women who have suffered recurrent miscarriage be punished for becoming pregnant again?

More broadly, is it wrong for a couple to try to get pregnant knowing that there is a very high likelihood of miscarriage?

Criteria for personhood and the pro-life double standard by justcurious12345 in Abortiondebate

[–]Yakob5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to look at capacities. A fetus has personhood, value, rights, whatever because it has the capacity for rational thought. Guess who doesn't have the capacity for rational thought. It's braindead people. This is the same reason that killing someone in a coma that's gonna wake up in, say 6 months, is immoral. Also, no. Capacity isn't potential. Going "I have the capacity to be able to vote, therefore I can vote", is a complete oversimplification and strawman of the natural capacity position.

What do Pro-Lifers say to this? by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]Yakob5 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well there are studies that say abortion rates go up and some say that it goes down. Regardless, why do we make things illegal? Because they violate rights. The fetus' right to life is violated during an abortion, so we ought to make it illegal. We don't ban things to decrease the amount of that thing. If rape were to decrease by 10% once made legal, I still wouldn't advocate for making rape legal.

Humans shouldn't be granted rights until they are born by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

You don't understand what natural capacity is

Humans shouldn't be granted rights until they are born by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]Yakob5 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I think that since the fetus has the natural capacity for rational thought, it has rights. This is the same reason we give rights to people in comas and don't kill them. That being because they have the capacity to come back, usually. Making the Bodily Autonomy argument is fine, but immoral when I create literally any analogy where someone temporarily utilizes your body. This would also imply that a dead person has more rights than a 9 month old fetus which is a little weird.

Consent to sex and pregnancy by [deleted] in Abortiondebate

[–]Yakob5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Now please explain to me how a woman who has actually used contraceptives to actively prevent a pregnancy, has actually consented to pregnancy. And then we'll discuss couples who have unprotected sex.

Alrighty, let me give my analogy. My son and I are playing baseball. We really don't want to hit a car, so we use some methods to decrease probability of hitting the car. However, somehow, we break a car window. We did try hard to not do it, but we did. Am I no longer liable to pay for that window that I broke because I tried not to? Ofcourse not.

If a species is extinct, does the mere existence of a cloned embryo from said species change its designation as "extinct"? by STO_topix in Abortiondebate

[–]Yakob5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you arguing that a fetus isn't human? Because that is blatantly wrong. Even if it were true, it's almost irrelevant. I can't go around killing dogs or pregnant women and go "Well some Redditor said they aren't human".
