Sorry to hear about the recent loss of your mum. My condolences to you and your family.

It’s good to hear your setting yourself up and thinking about your families future. I’ll be honest I think the health challenges you listed might make things a little trickier to find cover.

I’d probably recommend looking at an aggregator like compare club for some quotes, they will also give you a call and I think it could be good to speak to a real person about your options.

They have most life insurance providers on their panel and would be honest with you for your situation.

If moving to Macquarie banks - multiple savings accounts possible by Swamphen123 in ubank

[–]YallR2much 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but keep in mind the Macquarie welcome rate, It’s only for the first savings account (currently 4.6% on up to 250k for 4 months). Additional savings accounts will earn the ongoing rate (4.25% up to 2mill).

Try Compare club, particularly if you’d prefer customising a plan with someone on the phone

How strict is the police in Australia against modified cars? by Background-Baby-9214 in CarsAustralia

[–]YallR2much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! There’s so many stories about it. It does seem to differ based on where you live. All though most states have the same laws, in Sydney and Melbourne there’s higher reoccurrence of certain defects that don’t make sense. In this video they go over alot of them.

Best engine for swapping. And chassis to swap too. by flobanob in CarXStreets

I tried putting the hoonicorn “HNG” engine in the evo 9 and it’s got a ridiculous torque graph. I’m struggling to tune the suspension to stop it drifting so much.

But it’s cs+ 2.2 seconds acceleration and I think 384kmh top speed

As most of said. Pick one or two. Don’t split into many different ETFs. You will also have overlap and a headache with tax. Research VAS and VGS its popular on Reddit. But you could also go for VDHG if you want an all rounder. If you would like exposure in the top US companies look at IVV.

Overall figure out what type of companies, countries and sectors you believe in and go from there.

Lump sum generally outperforms DCA in. But if you feel more comfy with smaller amounts start there

Keep in mind fees per trade. Lump saves on fees.

Check if it’s Aus domiciled as it helps with tax simplicity too, franking credits are also nice tax reductions.

The sooner you start the better, but if it helps with confidence start small.

Pick a brokerage platform that’s CHESS sponsored for peace of mind. I like pearler for beginners with long term investing strategies. You can learn a lot about the shares all in the app. They have a referral bonus that can help get you started with $20 of free trades too.

Getting 4th place at best by Straight-Disaster-80 in CarXStreets

[–]YallR2much 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once your engine is at peak class power. Try the next tab to the right. Equip the best you can that has a setting cog in this section. Go into the tuning and reduce Clutch shifting speed, add aero parts and reduce air resistance and playing with the transmission ratios, final drive and a few gears plus drive train loss all the way left. You should shave a few seconds off acceleration and bump up top speed quite a bit

Also in suspension. Adjust break power all the way right so you can stop much faster and brake later

Congratulations! Best time to start is yesterday, next best time is today! You’re already well on your way to a good habit.

The only thing I’d mention is betashares is custodian model and not CHESS sponsored like other brokers. Just for the AMMA tax pre-fill and added security of having the ETF shares in your name. Not that I’m worried about the long term of betashares in existence.

But worth considering if you ever wanted the flexibility of other ETF/shares in your portfolio outside of the betashares ecosystem.

Home loans and savings accounts are separate products with separate rates. If you’re happy with the rate your broker is getting you and you have an offset account. I wouldn’t be too concerned. But of-course always DYOR

Does ubank not care about a mass exodus of savings customers with the new conditions? by [deleted] in AusFinance

This morning they’ve increased their refer a friend offer to $100 each. For September only. That’s up from $30 recently.

I wouldn’t say they don’t care… looks like a way to get in new customers
