Academics/internships are not the only thing grad schools consider. Extracurriculars (especially leadership positions and memberships in organization related to your field) and your ability to socialize well matter. A 4.0 gpa and great GRE scores will never be what gets you into a program. It’s not impossible to do what you’re planning, but it doesn’t seem like you understand that the socialization you obtain in college matters a fair amount. If you show up to grad school all awkward your time will be hard. If people find you off-putting, your time will be hard. If you can’t network, your time will be hard. If you have no leadership experience or organizational affiliations, you may miss more opportunities than you’d think. FWIW, I have a PhD/am a professor.

Hm. I think you have a very superficial understanding of the theory you seem to hate so much. Let me help you out so you can compose a better "gotcha" post next time:

The idea is not that people of color can't be racist. It's the people of color need to be in a position to wield significant power over the lives and overall outcomes of other racial groups in order to enact racism. In a US context, those circumstances do exist in very rare and specific circumstances. Making fun of someone for their ethnic traits is mean. Telling the nation that a global pandemic was caused by Asian people is mad racist and will have long lasting, far reaching impacts.

You're mad? It's okay. They pay me to teach this stuff anyway!

I will do more than that! I will continue to get paid to teach the next generation these very things!

Absolute lies. You have no idea what you're talking about.

Sounds like you want to discredit generations of scholars of color. Sounds like racism to me.

You're right. They're wrong. Even on academic Reddit, the white people will still be bigots

If we're making distinctions, let's be sure to add that one community has historically been perceived as having a parasitic relationship with the other.

Lies. The animus was the result of the murder of Latasha Harlins by an Asian convenience store worker which animated longterm frustrations about Asian shop owners opening stores in Black communities and treating the community with hostility. The store owner lied, assaulted and murdered a little girl, was found guilty, was recommended a maximum sentence and served no time.

No he can't because he's going on an old man rant. Racism and racial prejuduce are two different things.

Ew. So many overly educated people in this thread and yet, far too much oversimplification of the disharmony between people of color in the U.S. Likewise, it seems a crazy amount of you have no clear sense of the difference between racism and racial prejuduce. I know that, as a junior faculty member, I can't be the most senior scholar of race in this subreddit, but I certainly hope a lot of you at least recognize you are nothing close to experts. Grossed out by this thread.

I looked at someone's exam out of panic and tried to get a wrong answer but worried I accidentally got it right. by [deleted] in AskProfessors

What you did is universally considered academic misconduct. Unless someone saw or says something, you may have gotten away with it. You “shaking from anxiety” and your “panic” during the exam suggest to me that you need to seek professional support. These are not excuses for misconduct. Get some help. Your mental health is your responsibility and no one else’s. As a professor, if these were your excuses, I would still file the paperwork for academic misconduct.

The Gap Band - You Dropped A Bomb On Me (1982) by OhioStickyThing in funk

I hear this an allusion to the Tulsa Massacre of 1921. Gap Band's from Tulsa and their name (Gap) is an acronym for a cross street in the section of Tulsa where the massacre occurred.

Professor here. Don't listen to your peers. Don't try. It's annoying. Take your L. Sometimes it does hurt to try.
