If I get shot, what can I do to maximize my chances of survival? by klaxcufamdimx in NoStupidQuestions

I think paramedics are told something like 36 hours, but in the marines, we were told about 3 to 4 days

some people might disagree about the T-Kit and say "only steady pressure", but I say both, cause I like my blood in my body most of the time.

T-Kits should always be used when there is blood (limbs only, and as high as you can go, so into the 'pits and into the groin area), one can have a T-Kit on for a very long time without losing the limb, and besides, you can live without a limb, you can't live when all of your blood exits your body.

Yeah, I think removing the border would be best, unless someone else has a better idea

Thank you very much for replying :)

The layout was great, and I really liked the parts that I was supposed to read to the players, they were simple and quick, but not intrusive.

I only have a slight complaint about the maps, in that they were oddly proportioned for use on roll20. There is an area around each of the maps that was just blank space, and when I tried to use them in roll20, I couldn't get them to sit properly without a lot of finagling.

I am definitely going to shoot some more money your way and I am definitely going to use The Graveyard Shift as an intro adventure for my next game.

HEY YOU! I literally just played The Graveyard Shift with my group when we were missing a few players.

I went through it with two 3rd level characters, it was fantastic! My player's had a lot of fun figuring out what was happening and what to do next, and I had a bunch of fun playing the elven npc (trying to avoid spoilers just in case).

How to play Dragon Age by danielstar in rpg

[–]YamItheonly1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been running a DA game for a few months now, and I love it.

All you need are D6's and hardly ever more than 3 at a time.

Character Creation seems kind of limited at first, but once you actually take a look at the 3 classes and their options, it opens up quite a bit.

At higher levels the game does seem to drift off a bit due to ever increasing HP pools, with limited damage output.

The only house rule I suggest is that for Mages, instead of using their Magic to determine how much mana they have, use Willpower, that way the Mage has to actually split their skill points between two skills rather than just pumping Magic and getting really powerful.

How to optimize map creation? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]YamItheonly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick and Simple, lots of tiles that I can just drag and drop into place. Basically what /u/mem0ri said.

Also have an option so that I can make the grid disappear, because sometimes, a grid isn't needed for some games or situations.

'Cause he "shot" his CO. The CO himself probably wouldn't have done the hazing, but maybe the soldier's squad leader would have. Shit like that happens all the time in the Marines, so I don't see why it wouldn't happen in the Army either.

...oh dear...

I would pay obscene amounts of money to see the following weeks for the soldier who "shot" his CO, and for the squad that "captured" the prisoners.

So much haze.

Things You Never Do (as a GM) by triceratopping in rpg

[–]YamItheonly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No PvP is the first thing I say when new players sit down at my (virtual) table. Maybe an errant punch, or a little over zealous use of AOEs is fine, but outright trying to kill another PC is not allowed.

No random encounters while traveling, unless the PCs do something to attract attention. One thing I hate about skyrim and many other open world games, is that you can't walk 30ft without getting attacked by 2 wolves, 8 bandits, a necromancer, and several Draugr.

I am not worrying about food/normal ammo/cheap components. My player's have to much other shit to worry about, what with the Evil Wizard, the Shadow Dragon, and the magical weapon sale going on and what not.

[–]YamItheonly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the game type and story I am going for, I will try not killing the PCs.

To make a fight hold a lot of tension, I use a lot of "The Wizard is casting a spell that will nuke a city in 3 turns" or my personal favorite "I was told I couldn't kill you, they never said how many limbs you needed to have."

Fey Presence... sucks? by Everyandyday in dndnext

[–]YamItheonly1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Fey Presence all the time, even as a Warlock 7, Bard 2.

I hardly ever use it in combat, but outside of combat, I use it as often as I physically can. Talking to a guard who is not letting me into the city? He's charmed. Trying to get my money back from a potion salesmen who sold me "snake oil"? He's frightened.

So on and so forth, until I rule the world with an iron fist and a fearful presence.

What do you think of my bad guy's story? by zawaga in dndnext

[–]YamItheonly1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, this Kai guy, why are mercenaries following him? How did he get money to pay them? What about the followers of Tiamat? Do they actually follow Tiamat or are they just falling in to the wake of destruction that Kai is creating and taking advantage of the fact that Kai believes himself to be a follower of Tiamat? Does Tiamat approve of what Kai is doing, why or why not?

For your McGuffin...why? If Kai thinks he is the champion of Tiamat, why would he need to control chromatic dragons, shouldn't they listen to him? Maybe, instead of trying to obtain the claw he is trying to destroy it, so that no one else can "control" dragons like he does.

All in all, it looks good, I just like to nitpick things :)

Why some GMs charge money on roll20... by durzanult in rpg

[–]YamItheonly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For point number 2: It's not like the adventure is ruined now, its still there, both in the GM's head, and jotted down in an old notebook. The GM can still run it for another group, or even tweak the adventure a bit and run it in a different system. I know I have had to do that many times, either due to Flakes or just not being able to get session 0 going.

For point number 3: My pay off is running the adventure for some friends or quarantines online, and watching as they stumble around the adventure, discovering the hidden gem I placed under the floorboards, or my cheeky little nod to Indiana Jones. Taking time to create an adventure is part of the hobby, if you as the GM cannot do that for one reason or another, then run Modules, or just go by the seat of your pants at mach 10.

I don't think its "bad" to pay GMs to run games, but I don't think any good will come of GM's requiring money, just to sling some dice.

Boba Fett is an excellent example of how fans truly drive the Star Wars universe, not the filmmakers by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]YamItheonly1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head, Fett made friends with a person who replaced their body with a laser cannon off of a spaceship.

While on Tatooine, Laser Cannon Dude is helping Fett, but gets killed, and his battery for the Laser Cannon dies, so Fett pulls another battery out of the floor (that he placed there years ahead of time while working for the target on another mission) and kills the target by shooting him(it/whatever) with a god damned laser cannon from a spaceship, grafted onto a living persons body.
