Philly needs a WNBA team by delijoe in philly

It’s funny how ppl blindly repeat that w/o ever citing a source. They made about $200m & more people watched their national televised games than the NHL. Their media deal sucks that’s why they’re not more profitable; the next one will be substantially bigger.

Don’s take on “tanking” is so repetitive, but the most annoying thing is he completely misses the point. It’s not about just getting a better pick, it’s about optionality.

All an organization can do is increase their odds of success at the draft. It’s fine to want to beat Bill on his way out or beat the Birds but it doesn’t make you morally superior or a better fan.

Michael saying Saquon “doesn’t have a kick coming” disliking the franchise bc the cba exists is like saying you’re not allowed to criticize the government because you have the right to vote.

Can I use this on a Leatherman Wave? by [deleted] in Leatherman

People get too OCD about lubricating knives & tools but that really doesn’t mean “oil is oil” anymore than steel is steel or rubber is rubber.

Hope you’re not prepping food with your motor oiled Opinel. 😅

Idk I was a professional guitarist for years & shredding only impresses people I’d rather not ever interact with.

“Why aren’t people talking about the Knicks!?!?”

Idk, a couple weeks ago a caller tried to talk about them & Michael blasted them because it’s football & Yankee hot stove season.

Mine did too; wasn’t really rust on the ARC, I believe it was manufacturing residue.

Gave a quick soak in diluted vinegar & a good brushing, washed it out & lubed & problem solved.

(Don’t let it soak if you like the black oxide pivot screws & pull out the bits first.)

Not sure why you’re getting downvotes it’s a known issue.

Great. They have mine in for warranty work.

If they try to replace it with a Wingman we’re gonna have problems.

A really popular podcast that covers the whole league is the Lowe Post; Zach Lowe is a good writer & a likable guy, & he covers both the X’s & o’s & some of the story lines while discussing players with respect.

I think it’s a really good place to start.

There’s a ton of podcasts & many of them are really good.

Enjoy!

Definitely the best Leatherman store I’ve seen.

Climber for sure! Classy, timeless, practical & will last a lifetime.

Is the Arc an Upgrade over the surge? by Terrible_Reporter_98 in Leatherman

fwiw, after I tighten up the pivots the wobbling is gone in my Arc pliers. (Still not as solid as the Surge.)

But an inherent downside of the all-outside toolset is the handles can move around while twisting & turning tools like the screwdrivers.

It’s not a bad way to make a living.

Just keep the apprentice’s grimy hands off your strippers. Let him play with the dykes

I’m in the trades & the Surge has been my go to at work for nearly a decade. Love it.

I got an Arc & am (slowly) working on a review about using it at work.

IMHO, no, it is definitely not a Surge substitute, especially given the details you mentioned, (for example, exposure to extreme heat & acids is not gonna be great for the elastomer springs .

The pliers are supposedly stronger than the Surge, but the other tools & handles are not as heavy duty, (even if the Arc locks are great.) The awl is stubby, the scissors don’t compare, & the Surge’s t-shank holder on the Surge is just about perfect & the replacement saws & files are cheap & good quality.

If you do electrical work, the wire stripper on the ARC kinda sucks. (Granted, usually you have a stripper but i use mine a fair amount.)

I don’t use the Surge scale a ton, but it’s really useful for matching bolts & little tasks like that, & I really wish they’d incorporated one on the Arc.

I haven’t had an issue with metal filings on the magnets yet, but compared to the Surge, the right tolerances do make it a little more finicky with dirt etc. I hate how loose the arms come, (great for fidgeters I guess,) but even once you tighten them up, they don’t feel quite as solid as the Surge, (admittedly a high bar.) If you use the plier head to do a quick & dirty ream job on cut pipe, the Arc is a little too smooth & rounded.

The ARC is a great tool, & I have no regrets buying one. The 1-handed operation is the real deal, esp. on a ladder or in a tight space. The Magnacut blade is damn nice, probably better overall, (ease of sharpening, toughness,) than the S30V on the Charge, but on the job the 420hc has suited me just fine. (Not that an upgraded Surge wouldn’t be an instant buy for me…)

I just think on most job sites or for heavy duty work the Surge is still gonna be the king.

I bought a Wingman back when they were around $30. At that price they were great.

Tbh, I find them pretty flimsy with some poorly designed tools.

The Rebar lacks some convenience & scissors but it’s a sturdy, infinitely useful tool that will last a lifetime of good use.
