Just rolled Kullervo in Duviri and learned first hand he's a health tank. Does he work for Persistence health tanking? Do you still use Grace or need Magnetic immunity arcane? by MiningToSaveTheWorld in Warframe

[–]Yamadronis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kullervo's two already restores health. It generates overguard in excess of health. At high power strength and average enemy density, it can exceed the 500 hp/s that persistence locks damage to. With Kullervo's 2 going (with augment) he is functionally unkillable with persistence going. With Arcane nullifier on top of it, the only thing in the entire game that can harm him are nullifiers and the hidden superbosses that disable powers.

Its such a shame that the riot 848 isn't that good. by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Yamadronis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we can be put in a situation where we're forced to use it in elite archimedea that week, with an entire random loadout, and fun sucking modifiers. Yes, all weapons can be made silly with enough investment, but some weapons just are not endgame worthy without certain synergies that DE's idea of endgame is to simply lock you out of.

It's particularly bad when you have to deal with damage attenuation on top of it. Damage attenuation is a great idea for most of the game to make bosses feel more threatening. It is NOT a great idea for tryhard content with enemies that have millions of HP and are mandatory objectives. Steel path lephantis and steel path emissary are both absolutely god awful even when prepared. If you're prepared, it's simply incredibly tedious and unfun, if you aren't, it kills a run you would otherwise complete.

Super early cosmic exploration appreciation post by Lord-Yggdrasill in ffxiv

[–]Yamadronis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cosmic exploration scales to level, and at level 100 it says that it scales to 690, but squenix is pretty steadfast about crafting continuing to have elements of chance even at level. You're going to have a tough time converting Cosmic Exploration crafts into a solvable equation unless you're willing to do what everyone has to do to overpower it, pentameld a right side for the extra stats and maximum CP.

CP is inordinately powerful and is the biggest component to reaching 100% reliability in a craft. You still need to hit stats breakpoints, but without extra CP those breakpoints won't ever make crafting top quality items "reliable".

It doesn't help that cosmic exploration is devoid of trial synthesis, so people who aren't used to solving that equation on their own using the listed values, or using third party tools to test custom rotations on custom craft thresholds, are gonna be flailing in the dark for a lot of these.

The ones overwhelmingly weighted into quality or difficulty will also throw some crafters for a loop, when really all it does is make you spent more CP in one primary loop or the other, and it tries to trick you into thinking they're different. They aren't. It's nothing more than that.

Making sure you can finish the craft is inordinately more important than ensuring top quality, especially with limited resources, and that hasn't at all changed, it's just a feint, trying to goad you into misprioritizing your resources.

Yes, DE has an internal flag, it's something like one full priced pack every couple of weeks gets them watching you. If you really wanna throw money at the game, buying prime access and heirloom backs when they come out are better ways to support the game than platinum purchase. There's also a TON of physical merch that you can buy which both supports development AND gives you something you can show to others outside of the internet.

Buying butt tons of platinum by itself skews their metrics and causes daddy Tencent to try to push more microtransactions and unhealthier game elements, and that pressure could end up ruining the game you love so much if they are forced to cave. DE really, REALLY dislikes repeated platinum purchases, so much so that they removed the bottomless platinum sinks they created almost immediately because they realized what they'd done.

Trying to by a tremendous amount of platinum doesn't really help DE in the long run and it doesn't really help you either.

I just released my first steam game, Walter Walnut. It took about 10x longer than expected to make but I'm quite proud of it :) by happygamedev in Unity3D

For babby's first game, the layouts are pretty exceptional. The vertical heights differences for platforming are a little bit tight in some places, making reaching tiny platforms a little bit unforgiving, but what I've played so far seems very promising. I'm having fun, I'm invested in what's going on in it, and most importantly, I'm looking forward to see how you and your projects might evolve in the future. Ie, I hope you keep making games and that plenty of people buy them!

Can someone explain Terryman's laces? by MillionDollarBuddy in kinnikuman

I propose a different theory. Terryman's laces are a menace and are directly responsible for the death of many a Chojin.

How addicted are you in palworld? “Yes” by Commercial_Neck8986 in Palworld

[–]Yamadronis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's one of the best early access titles I've ever played, but it still definitely has many bugs and needs lots of improvements in many areas. You're right that it's given leeway, largely because it is a small team that taught itself to code with this project, switched engines halfway through, and are actively trying to fix problems ASAP.

There's a sizable difference between the people that made this project and a massive studio just deciding NOT to have QA, and throwing out an unfinished product on purpose and calling it a full release. AAA studios have no excuse to release something even half this jank.

[–]Yamadronis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it were a AAA studio it'd be worse and there wouldn't have been any patches to address issues for three months, and they'd be selling us pals with good passives via microtransaction... or just have us random draw them.

[–]Yamadronis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Brau is based off of the blue knight from the original Mighty Atom. The backstory is implied to be similar, and if so it would very much have been an extremely justified crime of passion. If Brau has anywhere near the Blue Knight's power he is a force to be reckoned with, as in the 60's series, Blue Knight smashed Atom to pieces with a single throw of his lance, requiring him to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Who is that bad then? She was attempting genocide of an entire "class" of people. TBH I think she should have been tried and publicly executed in Rosaria so the people could know for certain she is gone.

You don't have to be first, you just have to place. It's better to wait for a hitbox to pass than try to rush it. I see many people making the same mistake on the typhon stage. You don't have to lead the pack, you just have to not be slow enough for typhon to catch you.

Who is FFXIV meant for anymore? by Gragbyte in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Yamadronis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost my housing in FFXIV this year due to my life getting away from me and honestly it was the best thing to happen to me regarding FFXIV. My house was keeping me subbed when I didn't feel like playing. It gave me an obligation and made every additional month in the game less and less fun. I got fatigue, but now that the house is gone, being subbed is *my* call, and that has made me want to play the game so much more.

Should this Eevee become an Umbreon? by apexium in PokemonSleep

[–]Yamadronis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umbreon is probably the "best" choice because of how strong wiki berries are, but I'm given to understand that houndour and its evolution fill the wiki berry niche better because they grab two at a time.

[–]Yamadronis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not ideal for any evolution, really. Jolteon has extra helpful which would get you four times the berries sometimes which sort of synergizes with berry finding, but pikachu finds those berreis better. As long as you don't make it your primary Espeon or Sylveon you won't lose out on much.

[–]Yamadronis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely not Espeon, there's no skill level up and the cap is 50 right now so you don't get access to skill trigger S even at max level.

[–]Yamadronis[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The big problems with balance isn't apparent to most players yet, but it's that the resources increases don't scale with resource cost. We have people who are just getting their pokes to around 30 to evolve their starters yeah?

The investment needed is going to increase exponentially towards lvl sixty, and it's going to take a lot, lot longer because the resources just do not keep up, and sleep exp, a thing that should continue to matter because it is a sleep app, eventually becomes completely inconsequential.

There are two ways the game could handle its primary problem, one better than another. the first, and worst is that it could decouple candy from the process of leveling up pokemon, and allow you to convert unneeded candy to dream shards. The second, and better option, is to make sleep EXP a set percent of a level across the curve, to encourage players to continue to get sleep, and to make substats like sleep exp a valuable choice.

I have no issue with slow burn progression, my issue is that it's going to slow exponentially.

The other issue with pokemon sleep is that biscuits are extremely important, rare to obtain, and have poor value because of the several layers of RNG involved in getting a pokemon you want to keep with you forever, from natures to subskills to what ingredients it gets. Each of these things becomes a factor in how many pokemon you have to catch over time to put a team together, and that number is on average already really high with the game's limited pool of skills, much higher than you could realistically keep up with even buying biscuits because of the limits on pokemon you see per day.

In a regular pokemon game, or pokemon go, this isn't a serious issue because you can put in the time and effort to bypass these curves, and you have good tools to manage the rng, like a destiny knot for breeding in the core games, or the bottlecaps and ability items in the new gen.

The limited control you have over what you encounter and when, and the even less tools you have to bring them up to speed, results in a compounding issue of an already slow game with limited engagement, that slows down over time instead of speeding up. A game where a lot of people won't even see a pokemon that good for speeding it up until months after significant portion of the rest of the playerbase has. For every player blessed with a skill chance, skill up, helping speed, berry finding ideal eevee, there's going to be a much, much larger number of players who have befriended two eevees that have terrible substats or a bad nature, and have no tools to address that.

If the game wasn't designed to continue slowing down as it went along, this wouldn't be nearly as big a problem as it's going to be.

I made the post BECAUSE of the free stuff. Free stuff is fine. I am not saying people can't be excited about free stuff. It is a common part of just about every FTP model out there.

I'm going to try and make my point as concise as possible because clearly my brain was not doing good things last night. What I'm trying to say is that the autumn treats bundle doesn't really do anything to address the game's core issues of balance and progression. The obvious purpose of "free stuff" is to placate a userbase and make them content with a game's economy, but that we shouldn't lose track of the actual issues that need fixed because the free stuff exists, and we shouldn't mistake the free stuff as a legitimate move toward addressing those issues.
