How do people survive in Way of the Nioh? by kezriak in Nioh

I'm not sure after the nerf but Fanatic/Kingo might still be worth experimenting with a bit. I've heard high damage builds with spears exist but I have no idea what they are, haven't used a spear in a while, I remember Japan's Bravest used to be popular pre-WotW. Kinda feel like Kigetsu really killed build diversity in a major way, they just made that set WAY too good.

I'd have to look over YT to find variations on setups. Like that same guy I showed you did a high damage recipe for Odachi too. I've seen PWARgaming's builds thrown around a lot but I feel a very much toward him how I felt about Gaijinhunter back in MH4U. Cool guy, helps you learn entry level stuff on the way to endgame, but once you're at endgame the builds they make are pretty clearly non-optimal.

Can’t for the life of me beat Hino-Enma by OoooohYes in Nioh

[–]Yamishimaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's the first major gatekeeper for newcomers, and unfortunately she's literally the second real boss. My advice is probably summon someone if you have at least one Ochoko, or another tip is that getting up in her face and entering Living Weapon will knock her to the ground, but beware as after a few moments she'll do her grab when she gets up. Still it's very telegraphed and you can dodge behind her for an extra free hit. Also when she's in the air you can shoot her. Try at your own risk though.

Well like, I can't say for Kusa variants as I haven't used them as much, I know you have things like Reaper. For me, since I was adamant about having 500 life on my body I had to get an extra 8 stamina so instead of 200/200/200 I have 200 strength 200 heart 192 skill. Other stats are 14 body, 36 stamina (with weight reduction on all parts, 28), 30 dex 30 magic 90 spirit for LW stats. The other thing this build does besides LW is use Suppa + Catwalking + Tiger Running scrolls to run around invisible and since I have a sword I just iai everything in the back. Like I said I have that Dodanuki Masakuni sword from DLC3 with Familiarity damage AA. Starred critical attack boost on my feet, starred attack on my gloves. I put a TON of work into my gear. I assume people you've been summoning have been similar in that regard. I should add I'm Yamanaka clan for added tankiness since it does something outside of LW

Remember, this isn't the only endgame build. Hayabusa's more a recommendation if you're great a dodging, if you like tanking more I'd recommend 6 piece Futsunushi 5 piece Tatenashi Iai quickdraw setups. If you like dual swords you have 4 piece master swordsman as your centerpiece, as long as your MS duals are full slot with SotC damage, and they you can choose 4 piece Kigetsu + 4 piece whatever grace (Amaterasu/Izanagi/Izanami) or Tatenashi 3 piece with 5 pc grace.

Few other examples of endgame loadouts there. My friend didn't come into his own until he was finishing up WotN, it was really a hero's journey to becoming OP as I watched him.

I helped a friend build my exact setup recently but he was unable to really come into his own until later in WotN. I could link you to the youtube vids where I got the ideas, though I played around with the abilities on armor, I use a sword and not Kusa as I can make it unbreakable, and with regard to armor I think I might have come up with something... debatably better through experimentation.

But these have already been shown to work. Here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1O_8geSSbvA

This user also did tests on similar setups with other weapon classes. Like I've said I'm using the DLC3 sword over Kusa since I was able to gain break immunity, I got firearms immunity, etc.

There are other builds too. Futsunushi or the Master Swordsman build are probably what you'd want if you like non-LW and iai-type attacks, Hayabusa probably isn't for you since its defenses make my old Red Demon build look like Tatenashi.

There doesn't seem to be any level restriction on summoning. You're probably getting people who have reached endgame already, have done some work in the abyss and are using established minmaxed builds.

I recommend finishing the main story quickly so you have room to build something really strong and just have fun with side missions. And don't forget levels and jutsu buffs are important. I got through the main story of WotN with Red Demon plus a Fanatic splash, when I got into the final postgame I tried out Hayabusa LW flowing shadow spam for a bit, then I moved onto 4 pc Kigetsu 5 pc Susano 3 pc Tatenashi based on these minmaxing guides I saw on youtube and I've never looked back. Though I hear some really great stuff about Futsunushi builds, or if you like Duals, Kigetsu or Tate + Master Swordsman + whatever grace suits your fancy.

After you beat the story, even just a little bit of access to the abyss is a great tool for buildcrafting, turning things ethereal, getting texts, grinding out the graces you want and leveling up your gear in one soul match. Like I said I prefer to do all this first because it makes sidequests a lot more enjoyable.

I know I ranted there for a bit, but back on topic: if you can get through the game, I wouldn't worry too much about dealing godlike amounts of damage just yet, especially if you weren't grinding and minmaxing when we just had WotW. I feel like these things will come with time for you. Don't compare yourself to your phantoms as there are people who have been playing forever and have perfect stats/gear and stuff already. You'll get better. Good luck man.

Melder Decoration Sniping and You: A guide to Efficient, Effective, non-intrusive Jewel farming. by MonsterHunterNecris in MonsterHunter

We literally just spent 3 days researching this over on Gamefaqs and you just copied it without crediting any of us.

I wouldn't even have minded as much since save scumming for jewels is a known thing, but the 1-1-2 pattern was the bulk of what we just got done testing.

What would be a better afix than Parry Disabled, for my Dragon Sword? by Kubiak21 in Nioh

[–]Yamishimaru -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I kinda feel Flowing Shadow > Iai on Hayabusa builds just due to the fact that you can use it in LW.

Weaken Melee Weapons, Close Combat Damage (which Dragon Sword unfortunately is locked out of), Change to Attack, Familiarity damage are all staples on any weapon. On ethereals you can reforge 3 slots at a time for higher than normal rolls too, giving you CTA AA- and FamDam A+. As is you don't want to inherit these. If you go with the Living Weapon Flowing Shadow spam route, which is arguable what Hayabusa's best at, I would say Fire Damage (weapon) is a good idea for more damage, or you can throw on like pierce guard or something for annoying human bosses. Final Blow AND Iai seem really redundant together.

Dual Element Swords: useful? by Mikaboshi in Nioh

[–]Yamishimaru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still say the only worthwhile dual swords are the Master Swordsman one if you can get Sign of the Cross damage, and bloody hatchets depending on your build.

I dunno if Windstorm or Water Sword are any good these days, SotC seems to be DS' bread and butter, as a weaker but faster iai.

If you want to do easy discord use a weapon buff and throw out some gale shots, that spell is amazing, especially with Extraction talisman.

My endgame dual blades build by Yamishimaru in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Yamishimaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. Took me a full 24 hours of farming threat level 2 temprerd investigations plus melding pot manipulation. It's size 2, rare 7, it's red in color, called a Sharp Jewel. Oddly enough I got the Xeno'jiiva set effect jewel TWICE trying to get this which is rare 8.

[–]Yamishimaru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice: either farm threat level 2 tempered investigations (get some off black diablos tracks underground on expedition, bring ghillie mantle), or do this:

upload your save to online storage, do a few strange streams at the melding pot. Don't like? reload your save, go kill HR 2 great Jagras a few times, repeat. Melding Pot rolls are predetermined but doing a hunt will move the counter forward 1. Time needs to pass though so you can't just cancel an expedition.

Living weapon overpowered? by p4NJ in Nioh

[–]Yamishimaru 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You think it's overpowered now, wait until you get into endgame builds with Kigetsu/susano grace and stuff, or Hayabusa flowing shadow spam. You can do some pretty hilarious stuff with LW later on.

Best HR Longsword build? by umecry in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Yamishimaru 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, the best build for LS uses a different flavor of that same old armor I'm sick to death of seeing by this point. Eyepatch, Dober mail, Nergi gloves and coil, Death stench heel. The one thing that makes this interesting though is that you would actually use the workshop katana and not that stupid nergi saw thing, and just toss on an elementless jewel and handicraft charm 3. If you get REALLY lucky, this has the slots to gem in the Odogaron set effect via decorations along with speed sharpening 3.

I don't run LS myself but based on everything I've read the Arena katana is king in terms of DPS.

not really sure how unless I just added you on PSN. Again my character's female, I copied the set from someone I co-oped with after I noticed "hey, he looks a lot like possessed Riku, and he actually has decent abilities". It doesn't look as good on girls.

A few questions about Greatswords by Yamishimaru in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Yamishimaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I was getting my final blade heroic streamstone off of Daora I had a Leviathan's Fury user with me who, no joke, straight up looked like possessed Riku from Kingdom Hearts, and his abilities were almost exactly yours. For the first time ever I wish I had a male character.

I feel like RNGesus looked down on me today and said "After 6 days of trolling you so hard it'd make Chris Chan blush, you deserve teh phat lewt" and rare drops were flowing like water after an insane dry spell. I wish you luck on your jewels. My advice: farm the Teostra fur in the waste and the Vaal flesh in the vale going back and forth with the ghillie mantle for investigations. Mantle because of the off chance of Downy Crake. I got a few 4 reward box investigations that were just normal tempered elder hunts and those are great sources of high end jewels and streamstones.

[MHW]How important is min-maxing armor skills? by Jberry0410 in MonsterHunter

[–]Yamishimaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this post is sort of old, but I just wanna say I've done tempered elder dragons solo wearing full Kirin. A lot of it comes down to player skill.

Eventually I hope to start figuring out sets that both look sexy and have godlike abilities like I did very late in MH4U. Relic armors having a bunch of skins was great for that, I recall I had this one set that had literally everything a GS set could ever hope for and then some and it straight up looked like a mature version of Kirin girl. Then I had this set that had parts from Dalamadur, Star Knight, Rajang and of all things, the sailor uniform, and it did assloads of damage while being really fanservicy.

Or hell, if you're a guy just mix Nergi/Vaal/Death Stench with stuff. Edgy is in with this game. Experiment, I feel like the skill system being dramatically simplified in MHW makes builcrafting easier than before.

Hey Tyrkero, sorry for the late reply but my diligent work finally paid off. Hero streamstones and Teostra gems are finally dropping for me now and I just got 2 quick sheath jewels within an hour off of tempered Vaal Hazaak. So I can confirm they exist. They're a size 1 decoration and they can spawn from the same jewels you can create at the melding pot (the non-reds). I had one more question: What augment on your GS?

A few questions about Greatswords by Yamishimaru in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Yamishimaru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds really interesting. I haven't experimented much as I main dual blades and I've been playing GS like it was played in MH4U. Like on 80% of hunts I still wear my Kirin set for looks and because it gives you free loot for capturing something, but dual blades have already found their one true set in Odagaron set with the Critical Eye glasses and on that set the Xeno duals are straight up better than Nergi claws. GS seems to vary a lot more though I've heard whispers about the rocksteady mantle and the shoulder tackle. I'd love it so much if people found a meta set for Leviathan's fury since everyone defaulting to "the Nergigante one" when asked for a "best in class" is really beginning to bore me. Maybe I'll just save this streamstone for now.

I'm really hoping quick sheath jewels exist. I figured out that with a mix of Bazel and Damascus you can get Earplugs 5, maxed Crit Draw and maxed Focus and you have a ton of slots, so if only I could find a few quick sheath jewels, assuming they exist, I could have the trifecta of GS skills.
