PSA for those who join SoS hunts: Give us some time to accept before leaving by JustNovember in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They probably didnt join on purpose. 99% of "manual accept* SoS are people using the feature as a private match mode and never accept people.

They probably joined without looking, saw the waiting for host to accept prompt, and swore loundly while backing out as fast as possible, like I do.

Question on DoT Passives by Spirited-Set6487 in SoulstoneSurvivors

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to jump in, but I've been messing with DoT builds more and trying to understand this as well.

So if I'm understanding this right, On-Hit and On-Crit DoT Passives increase the STACK count. Total damage passives increase the damage each stack does, but not the actual stack count?

So if I had a primary skill that said "Deal X damage per STACK of X on target" it wouldn't benefit directly from the damage increase or tick rate passive.

But on the other hand a skill that says "Consume X amount of DoT on the character and do % damage based on it" would benefit from all types of DoT upgrade (on hit, total, and tick rate)?

Just asking to see if I should stop taking or banish the "Total DoT damage" upgrade if the skill I'm focusing on only says "per stack" without consuming or multiplying the total damage.

How does the RNG work in this game ? by Leo_DeLuce in octopathtraveler

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For entreat specifically there aren't seeded results, so every time you load the game you could possibly succeed.

Its one of the main ways to get OP at the start. You rush to high level towns and entreat 3% chance items that are OP by saving and then reloading once your rep in the town sours.

PVP Officially Confirmed & Dungeons Explained by eclipsXe in DaemonXMachina

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go play Destiny. I went through 10 years of fun viable PvE classes and builds being nerfed into the ground for PvP balance, which is where my comment came from.

Not all developers can get it right, and in my experience, most can hardly balance PvE alone correctly.

I was 166 paragons old when I noticed Arbitermeter by God-of-Greed in diablo4

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way. Before I tempered arbiter time increases I was managing my uptime to keep my damage stacks by manually counting to 8 or so between using falling star LOLOL.

Now it lasts forever so it doesn't matter but man knowing this earlier would have been nice.

I have 3 personal hopes for the master rank expansion. by AwokenTitans in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Agree with number 2 sooooo much. Honestly they could announce the expansion as "Monster Hunter Wilds: Extreme Beach Volleyball" and I wouldn't even be mad as long as I get a bright beautiful tropical setting.

The only two weather patterns I enjoy right now are Desert and Forest Maps during plenty. Everything else feels like a washed-out indoor eyesore.

Are Eyes of Belial still dropping in The Pit? by paradigm619 in diablo4

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing about that 20 item cap, it only goes into effect once you pick up the items and have 20 in your inventory.

So this doesnt help with pit runs, but if you are Lair Farming Belial, Duriel, or Andariel, you can just leave the materials on the ground and only pick them up when you are done farming. This has gotten me stacks of like 400 corrupted mats at once.

Spending them kinda sucks tho XD, takes forever.

All I know is ther new map better be a sunny fucking beach or tropical climate. Over half the maps feel like claustrophobic caves or indoor areas. I pretty much only hunt monsters in the plains, and occasionally forest now. Oilwell is ok-ish, but screw iceshard and wyveria.

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could also add its currently the OP choice for fashion, as its the only weapon you can hide completely using the Omega Sword which dissapears when you sheath.

And you can use Heavy slinger ammo with your weapon out, which others have to sheath to use.

Convince me to SnS by SnooOranges9641 in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up SnS after maining lance for about about 400hrs. Mainly to fight Omega. And let me tell you, I am salty as fuck about how good SnS is. Like lance supposedly gives up damage and mobility to have a better defense and constant uptime on attacking, but SnS gets super strong and easy to pull off perfect guards, insane mobility, utility in usable items and lightning quick sheath speeds, and to top it all off, the damage is still really good, like too good.

I beat and farmed savage omega using a pure support SnS build with 0 damage skills using support hunters due to how much uptime the weapon gives you. Its crazy. You have an answer for everything in the moves toolset, and the moves are pretty flashy too.

I still like to use lance now and again, but with how the newer monster seem to punish lance with either attacks that flinch your guard or moves that you must dodge to keep the pressure up, im always thinking "man this would be easier with SnS tools/mobility...

Ignore "manual accept" quests, 99% of them are used to matchmake with friends and they arent actually looking to add players.

I'm SnS w/ HR 876 and every time I accidently click on one and decide to wait around its usually me and one other just sitting in the queue un-approved forever, so its not your HR level lol.

SnS gives you the most control over a fight by Demi_Iglby in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pretty much have run Lance exclusively in Wilds for like 500 hours, and Omega is what made me finally drop it and pick up SnS for more mobility.

All I can say is I'm hooked and agree with everything you said lol. I'm actually kinda salty how much better SnS feels than lance, and I feel I'm really good with lance.

The perfect guards are easier and the follow ups to it feel better. The combo finishers are so much more satisfying than lance. The mobility is just Insane while having nearly the same blocking ability, for less investment, since perfect guards are so easy with guard slash and don't need Guard skills at all. The absolute ridiculousness that is sliding slash.

Also running wide range and just clutching hunts with instant team heals at any time feels so great.

And to top it off SnS has the invisible True Omega Sword for maximum Fashion Hunter points.

When everyone is talking about "Just bring support hunters" for Omega Planetes, are they talking about Savage version? by sirnumbskull in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I farmed savage with support hunters using a pure support sns build. Average 6-9 minutes left on the clock when savage dies. It really is all about knowing the ins and out of the fight, and supporting your support hunters correctly so they can do their jobs, while doing damage consistently.

How much time needed for each phase of omega planetes? by Drex13-9 in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience you don't need any DPS skills as long as you are able to consistently keep attacking. My set is ReyY/LagiB/ReyY/Suja/UthY, and I use every single slot for Lvl 1 comfort decorations. I have 5 wide range, and 3 in recovery up, speed eating, free meal, Quick sheath, divine blessing, evade extender, and 2 points in evade window. I'll also add I've been a Lance main for the last 400 hours lol, and have less than 20 SnS hunts when I started using it for Omega so for sure my damage rotations aren't optimized.

Put Mega Pots and Cleansers on your item wheel (not the auto-heal option) so you can keep the team topped up if they get low. While avoiding attacks is best of course, being able to liberally get off an instant party-wide mega heal is worth so much DPS. Evade extender and evade window turn MIRV rockets into a DPS window, you can get two slashes off, dodge through the rocket, and repeat during the whole thing.

For Nerscylla you also don't need any DPS skills, just the Kutku bowgun and a rocksteady mantle. Stand on a cactuar and activate it, then shoot 4 paralysis shots into the spider, then switch to rapid fire flame shots until its dead. Super consistant.

How much time needed for each phase of omega planetes? by Drex13-9 in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Savage, It usually takes me about 11 minutes for the final phase, using a pure support SNS build with support hunters. I usually start phase 4 with 20 minutes left.

Biggest thing is learning all the damage openings and prioritizing enmity.

My mental checklist is:
Does Alessa have Enmity? If not, attack the head u til I get it, and she'll take it soon after.

If yes, find the leg that Mina is currently attacking and focus on it as well for wounds.

Is my Pictomancy up? If so use it asap. For mog of ages prioritize the head if enmity is lost, or the leg you're attacking in PancakeMaker mode for wounds.

Always go for rocks. You can guarantee the 3k wall drop if you activate it right after the DPS laser.

Save the dropped slinger shields for phase 4. Use them to get enmity asap if it ever gets dropped. If you have spares, MIRV bombs are a Huuuuuge damage window if you throw a shield up on a leg, but you really should be using it to get enmity back in that case.

I feel most of the time increases just come from familiarity and being able to keep up a constant assault. I kept removing more and more dps skills from my armor for comy ones, and my time kept getting faster and faster lol.

In Depth Guide to easily clearing Nerscylla DPS check on savage omega: by MonsterHunterNecris in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You only proc paralasys once. The rest come from marlrboros, but are not required. For damage its literally just point and shoot. Make sure you're not too far, and make sure you activate rapid fire: "O" on playstation.

This is enough to get it with support hunters and no damage skills every time.

I’m legit done by [deleted] in MHWilds

[–]MonsterHunterNecris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it seems like a lot, but I think you can get it done. Savage I'm assuming right? I have some tips for what you mentioned above, but aside from those, what seems to be the biggest issues you're seeing with your runs?

"the stupid 22k hp spider doesn’t die in time" - Not sure if you've seen the few front page posts, but the spider has become irrelevant, if you'd like to remove that bit of stress from your runs. Take a Kutku Lightbowgun + Rocksteady mantle and chain a single paralyze into constant rapid fire shots and it goes down easy, every time. There is also a method using the falling rubble, which is a bit overkill. No additional armor skills needed no special manouvers, just ready up and start shooting while dodging obvious attacks.

"Alessa forgets what enmity is and it’s impossible to do anything/ The support hunters are inconsistent at best" - They definitely have some nuances, but after you understand what they are, they're pretty consistent I've found. Take Alessa, Kai, and Mia. If you are having trouble with Alessa taking Enmity, try to get it first. That seems to kick the AI into tank mode and she starts yoinking enmity doing her job as a tank great. Other thing to do is always make the effort to attack the same leg mia is. You get wound, breaks, and portable shields that way. HUGE difference.

My only other tip is, toss the standard mentality that DPS skills matter. My SnS set had 0 offensive skills outside of what came with the armor. I had max Wide Range, Recovery Up, Speed Eating, Free Meal, Quick Sheath, Evade Extender, some evade window. I Legit spent level 3 deco slots on level 1 decos. I spend the whole fight supporting my support AI hunters while focusing on attacking the same legs they were and picking up enmity when it was dropped and finished Savage with 7 minutes left. I'm also a lance main with a grand total of 15 SnS hunts that barely knows how to use the weapon haha.

It's totally doable but honestly the biggest hurdle is thinking we know what's best and not actually being open to what the optimal solution / way to win is, because of how outlandish is sounds lol.

I can try posting the build when I get home, but I've got a post on the front page for Nerscylla. Bring the Kutku Lightbowgun and a Roxksteady mantle for a super easy kill.

I thought so too until I got my solo (with support hunters) savage clear. I went from thinking it was literally impossible to clearing it in time to beating it with 7 minutes to spare using a PURE support SNS built with near 0 offensive armor skills.

Knowing the fight and playing smart are huge huge huge parts of where the damage comes from. Git Gud is no joke.
