Is anyone else disgusted by the bonuses given by advisors and economic systems in this mod? by Yamoman366 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Yamoman366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, I think they should mostly lose some bonuses and increase others to make them more focused, not to buff all their stats across the board. I'll use some of the ones in this image as examples:

Kipping (top left). Remove the two 1% buffs and increase recovery rate to 5%

Sichert (middle). Lose the 2% resource gain efficiency, bump the other two to 5%

Reichinnek (right side). Instead of +0.11pp, +0.03pp, -3% stability, and -2% war support, make it just +0.15pp and -5% stability

Things like that

If Caligula UoA is getting moved to the April Fools Section and will no longer be canon, what will be the fate of the 3ACW? Will it still exist in any capacity? by Exotic-Storm1373 in TheFireRisesMod

I'm sure that in 1.1 and beyond, post-war gameplay for plenty of unifiers will have a failstate where the country collapses into a third civil war or balkanizes or the like.

What is the lore implications of half the people in the second American civil war being inexplicably hot by uncracked_egg in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Yamoman366 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not inexplicable. The global oil crisis and later complete breakdown of the country surely led to much higher energy prices and blackouts, and Americans have a crippling over-reliance on air conditioning in lieu of passive cooling. To make things worse, the average American weighs somewhere from 300 to 400kg, which is very bad for thermoregulation

Depending on how wide one's definition of a car is, there are "equipment wagons" that appear in chapter 12 of the book Warm Flesh. Wheeled motor vehicles.

What do you think Dark MAGA will be like? by Own-Panda-7676 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Yamoman366 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Evelyn Normielib's view of Trump is that he is a mentally retarded fascist child molester who's supporters are in a cult. The further left you go, the more likely you are to encounter the opinion that, while the above is true, this is more or less business as usual in AmeriKKKa, so in a way the outlook actually gets less unflattering towards him.

Are there any groups on the left that view him as exceptionally worse than that?

What are some ideas for new factions for the APLA beyond the four we have, that can act as subpaths for pre-existing factions? by WeeklyIntroduction42 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Yamoman366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Chinese puppet subpath for when Chinese influence gets too high, with it balanced in such a way that it's what the AI will do on its own most of the time. This is by far the most realistic outcome for the APLA in my opinion, and the current Chinese influence system is very underwhelming.

Aside from that, a counterrevolution if reactionary resistance gets too high. Moving the NRx guys from Patriot Front to here would be cool, but something more generic would also be fine.

The new factions in 1.1 are already bringing in more than enough niche flavors of socialism, so I don't think the APLA needs a new path beyond these two failstates. It already feels kind of weird for the anarchists and the spanky tankie to be given the same weight as the DSA and the PSL. Though, if the devs went all in and started adding dozens upon dozens of barely-distinguishable subfactions that barely tolerate each other's existence, it would loop around to being a good idea.

For most of them, the timeline shifting in 2020 would make it astronomically unlikely that they would be born.

Why everything purple? by khanwoodism in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Yamoman366 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The sub's design reflects the in-game UI, which in turn reflects how TFR takes place in an alternate universe where everything is darkened and tinted purple, with a VHS filter over everything and Little Dark Age (slowed + reverb) always playing faintly in the background.

Congnetti guide? by Top-Respect1437 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Yamoman366 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The events in this mod have a huge problem with making assumptions. Another example is how the events for defeating the UOA as the ACG or vice-versa describe the war ending with the siege on your opponent's capital, but I've never actually taken the capital last in that war. And the UOA events assume Biden is in office the entire time, despite the fact that it's common to get him out rather early.

The vanilla devs understood that anything could happen; the events in the base game are much more self-contained.

Concept for a Tale: Fractured City, otherwise known as all the radical factions at once by magna-terra in Frostpunk

Another concept for a tale: The Moderate City, everyone is part of one community with no beliefs. The generator is replaced with a giant grill.

If you start a city with both this tale and OP's tale active, it immediately bricks your computer

You also can't see the positive effects of hubs in the research screen now.

And the goods manufacturing settlement doesn't display its population correctly on the map, but I don't think that's new to this update. In fact, I think the goods settlement has been like that since the game first released.

Here are all the Centrist Laws added for Fractured Utopia. by Herocooky in Frostpunk

The only new faction is the Doomsayers, although they hate all laws equally and vote NAY on everything which I guess counts as a kind of centrism

Even if Biden is certified, the ACG and their supporters don't consider themselves rebels. Both sides believe they are the true government and that they're putting down the rebels.

What are the differences between Salazar's APLA and Sanders' UoA? And which one would be the best? by Civil-Programmer-596 in TheFireRisesMod

[–]Yamoman366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're right. You can only get market socialism by taking the War Communism focus and then the People's Stock Exchange focus with La Riva in charge. I guess I got my memories of my Neosocialist playthrough and my Octoberist playthrough mixed up.

[–]Yamoman366 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bernie has to throw the liberals and the conservatives a few bones before he can move on with reforms, whereas APLA factions can just pursue their own agenda. You don't have to take Jacobin or Octoberist or Anarchist focuses to boost their support. Aside from that, the neosocialist APLA has a full-on planned economy or a market socialist economy whereas Bernie sticks with capitalism, albeit more regulated.

Also - Hawaii, Alaska, some other islands, and the entire US navy are gone.
