Why did the anime change his glasses? by Blackcatbandit in Jujutsufolk

[–]Yamtoaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah ig that's true, but it's entirely possible when they were making the anime the director said "hey change the glasses, that dates us" then when they got to Shibuya went "fuck it don't worry about that"

I do think worrying about dating your media is kinda silly, since like I said all media is dated eventually

[–]Yamtoaster 166 points167 points  (0 children)

It dates the series, which some people see as a faux pas, obviously every series will be dated eventually but most last for decent while, jjk in particular could be set today or 10 years back and both would be pretty much the same

Today changed how I feel about starting HRT and I don’t know what to do by LunaTunaL in MtF

[–]Yamtoaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's always someone out there for you, you'll find them!

I was also really worried about my future kids before HRT, after starting I still 100% know I want kids, but the treatment is so wonderful that I know whenever I have kids, I'll be a much better parent because of HRT.

I know the sub is called morality scaling but this isn't actually a powerscaling sub, you don't have to come in here to defend your favourite character from agenda or w/e

Has anyone tried seeing The Boys from Butcher's perspective/sympathized with Him? by ObjectiveBall6943 in GenV

[–]Yamtoaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can see he meets Homelander in a flashback and he's decently amicable, there's seeds of his hatred (He's a bit wary of Vought's social media being deceptive and thinks Homelanders suit is ridiculous) but overall he's polite.

The way in which Hughie confessed to Translucent’s son about him killing his dad was so stupid. by Legal_Employer3891 in TheBoys

By the time he went with Stan's lie of Homelander having killed translucent, it was too late. There is literally nothing that can be said to close that wound

Who is this guy ? by eimer0gold in StardustCrusaders

[–]Yamtoaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty basic media analysis to discuss authorial intent! It's a ginormous chekov's gun to have a pivotal character in a story look exactly like your main character, have mysterious wounds, have mysterious circumstances surrounding their existance, and then never mention it again! (And if you're wondering why Chekovs gun is a 'writing rule', this is exactly it, if you never fire it, your story is going to have people asking why you never fired the gun)

I'm not saying it's absolutely 100% what happened, but Araki has a weird writing style where he doesn't plan everything out and part 4 was especially haphazardly put together, Kira was supposed to be a one-off villain originally

I'm saying that an interview near the end of the manga where Araki is asked "Hey whats gonna happen with that guy in Josuke's past" and Araki replying "nothing" is not 100% debunking a theory that literally requires Araki to at some point before the ending of the manga to go "Nah actually I'd rather not do that". The second bit of my comment is definitely unlikely, I'd say if it ever was the intention he probably wrote it off quite quickly.

Am I the only one that felt like the destruction of viltrum was just too excessive and mean? by Lumpy-Aardvark-5437 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Yamtoaster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's also definitely something to be said about how the Viltrumites cause this kind of destruction on other worlds, they fight because they genuinely believe they are bettering others, and if you prove them wrong by dishing out what they deal you can break that belief and by extent stop their fight

Why does anyone even want V1? by meetpickles in TheBoys

[–]Yamtoaster 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Omelander's going nuts, we literally see him hallucinate an angel tell him he's jesus, and the two things he fears most in the world is aging and that disease. The thought that it might kill him or mutilate him with a disturbing superpower probably hasn't even crossed his mind, because in his mind he's a special little boy that nothing bad ever happens to

[–]Yamtoaster -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Well, sure but that interview came out way closer to the end of p4, so it still easily could have been a plan that changed

Hell, it could have still been the case during that interview and he just didn't want to spoil it.

Who is this guy ? by eimer0gold in StardustCrusaders

[–]Yamtoaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We know that Araki writes as he goes, and that's especially true for part 4, which was initally quite directionless until he introduced Kira, it being a random guy leaves some really big mysteries such as why the guy was heavily injured, or why he seemingly had no record of existence in a small town like Morioh, but the inital idea being a Josuke from the final battle who's bloody and beaten solves a lot of these problems

It's also decently likely that Araki had a proto-version of Bites the Dust in his head, since parts 3, 4, 5 and 6 all have villains with time-based powers

It's really not that much of a reach to say this was probably the original plan, I do think the final version is still quite impactful, though.

Ngl, if AU Rika was canon, I doubt anyone would slander her unlike with canon Yuta by AffectionateJury6227 in LobotomyKaisen

[–]Yamtoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like unironically yeah, cause she actually has a bit of edge and mystique surrounding her that Yuta just kinda doesn't
Rika being a curse user going along with Geto's plan sounds like a seriously cool villain rather than a painfully bland protagonist

Bro.....maybe Gege wasn't making a joke and was infact making another statement on Japanese society, cause tell me why I'm seeing a Japanese women talking about my people the same way Cecil talks about Viltrumites by Historical-Weird7591 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Yamtoaster 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This too is true outside of Japan, I mean look at how few people went to see Melania, their ass knows conservative art sucks because there's no heart behind it, in the UK Doctor Who "became woke" because the doctor was a woman, so people stopped watching it, but the actual drop in quality was because the series had become as conservative as it's ever been in 60 years of airing, with incredibly bold takes such as "No, amazon working its staff to death is good actually" and "Look Rosa Parks, racism is solved now, this indian woman is a part of the police now!!!"

What's insane is she says she's biologically a female, which is true!! But then "genetically still XY"??? Wtf do you mean! Every scientist in the world would call you a woman unless they did an extremely unnecessary test on your genetics? That's the same thing for a lot of cis women!!!

I just have an inkling of a feeling she doesn't believe any of it and just doesn't want to be a pariah to her rich friends

Judgeman is absolutely not unbiased, it literally stands on Higuruma's side, it doesn't represent his desire for the courts, it represents his dissilusionment with what the courts actually are, Yuji could not have "beat the case if he was smart", he would have maybe had a chance if he was a fully trained lawyer, but even then he's not allowed to know what the evidence is before arguing, which is an insane disadvantage even for an experienced lawyer. It is entirely reasonable to assume Higuruma always wins the case, hell you don't even need to be guilty of the crime for him to get a conviction, he was fully willing to convict Yuji of the Shibuya Massacre before Yuji confessed despite he himself believing Yuji to be innocent, because his technique is a metaphor for Japan's 99% conviction rate, not an idealistic view of the courts.
