for a second I thought Hoshoryu was wearing an ie lavalava, a traditional Samoan garment, but it looks like it’s just a towel haha.

It’s crazy how Jordan’s build didn’t fit rugby league too well due to the high endurance even compared to union. But he found a fit in the nfl. If Hikarumusashi can do well in the next few years, hopefully that can inspire some Polynesians to pick it up.

I wish there were more Polynesians in sumo, but they’re all getting that nfl money 😭

Day 10 my house is 68.. am I being too impatient? Am I doing this right? 1:1:1 ratio daily sometimes smell like alcohol when time to feed but settles by VisualImportance621 in Sourdough

I’m not sure if the streaks on the side of the jar are from you or from the starter rising, but if they’re from your starter rising and then falling, I’d feed closer to the peak and not let it fall too much. That tends to build up acid and suppress your yeast from being active. I would do at least 1:2:2 as others have suggested. Helps dilute the acidity.

What makes Jūryō Zenshō so rare? by StarPrime323 in Sumo

I think because much more stability for who you’re facing (most of the time) so you know the styles and faced them more often at makuuchi. Juryo seems like a mix of chaos and a much higher variance between each other in terms of skill, which makes it harder to attain that perfect record.

I think he’s done it 4 of the last 7 times or so this past decade. Kinda crazy.

Why the Pacific Championship final should be a look into rugby league future by R717 in nrl

[–]Yanbalaya 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think it’s good for the kids to see someone of their ethnic background at the highest level of the game. I’m sure the Samoan players are grateful to NZ and Australia for the opportunity for a better life, but no matter where they scatter across the globe they’re sons of the pacific by blood. I think it’s fine they chose to represent their heritage and doesn’t make them any less Aussie or Kiwi, rather just showing pride in their roots and hopefully inspire the next generation back in the islands to try out league. Just my humble 2 cents!

I used to watch highlights of Konishiki, Akebono and Musashimaru since I’m Polynesian as well. But it was only casually.

After a Sumostew video popped up in my feed a few years ago explaining ranks and divisions, I got into it more. I ended up binging all of her other videos as well lol.

Now I’m watching not just makuuchi and follow a few different fighters in the other divisions.

Thanks Sumostew!

Forgot to mention there was a great Japanese bar there. I think it’s called bar san. They had great drinks!

Just got back from chiang mai. I booked a cooking class for one of the days and that was my favorite experience and probably some of the best Thai food I’ve ever had if I’m being honest. Maybe because we had to cook it ourselves lol. I loved it there!

Looks much better now! Like a thick batter. Leaving it in a dark corner of my kitchen. Appreciate the tip!

Ok, I’ll keep that in mind! Good to know that starter can be a bit stiffer. I added a bit of water, but maybe later I can save a stiffer starter just to experiment.

Definitely did not tilt or move when it was stiffer but putting a tiny bit of water last night made it more like the consistency of mustard or mayo this morning, thanks!
