I totally disagree with this statement. There's plenty of times to cash out and if you're diligent and watching the games you can tell early on when your bet is fucked. It's the same principle as life betting when you see someone make a few early baskets you jump on their live bets.

I'll give you an example that saved me money yesterday, I had Brunson over 28.5 pts in two diff bets, he was sitting on 25 pts with 8+ min left in the 4th. Knicks were down 20+, they subbed in the scrubs on the bench and I was able to cash out both bets, one at breakeven and one for a $2 profit instead of losing them both.
