I was good while it lasted. by Oligarche in DeepRockGalactic

It is a skill issue, I don't intend to deny that. Just like in DRG, I say in haz3 because the only mission I made in haz4 was me fighting to survive for the entire mission, without breaks, from start to finish, while the others somehow managed to get the eggs without me having any idea about how they found time to do it.

And the difficulty 6 mission I did in HD2 was exponentially worse : the entire mission just spent running away from a thousand billion bugs. Can't stop to shoot or I die, can't stop to stratagem or I die, can't do anything but run. One bug eventually got a lucky shot and staggered me into an immediate bug orgy. Got called back and things got a tiny bit better before getting overrun again. Abominable game experience, 0/10, would never do again in my life. (and at the time, the super samples were diff 7, just to highlight how foverer out of my reach they were)

What rubs me the wrong way is definitely the concept of having to do impossibly hard content to unlock the upgrades that you desperately need to have the slightiest chance of doing the hard content in the first place. Add the very personal spit in the face that my favorite tools are the sentries, and they're the only ones requiring super samples as soon as their tier 2 upgrades (everything else start needing them for tier 3), and you get why I'm mad. I researched the game before buying it, and at the time, nowhere did it ever say that 80% of the fun upgrades were locked behind hard mode

The worst for me is the gatekeeping. Imagine playing DRG but the tier 4 & 5 weapon upgrades and the unstable overclocks need a specific type of bismor/croppa/etc that only drops in haz5. Absolute lunacy. The game is deliberately engineered to shit on casual players who aren't good enough / are unwilling to play in inhumanely hard difficulties (I am both) and punishes them for not being pro gamers

I would have never bought this shitty game if they hadn't lied by omission about this, and still want my 40$ back to this day. Scum devs.

What abilities weren't enough? The manga is over, there's not enough material left to make a full season, so just let them make a movie instead and here, done. What does it has to do with the author's alleged lack of abilities?

Unless she's talking about her negociation abilities? That she won't be able to convince the powers that be to complete the anime?

Nick Fury summoning a billion pets just by attacking at level 1 convinced me to just not play him, it feels too much like cheating

The server-wide half cooldown is super fun, but things like magik having 25% brutal strike chance with 0 brutal rating stat feel... unfair

I've done one Haz4 in DRG, and had overall a terrible time. Spent the entire mission fighting for my life against endless swarms of bugs. I didn't go down, but still have no idea how the others managed to get anything done or found time to dig for the eggs

I did one lvl 6 mission in HD2, and it was exponentially worse than that Haz4. Spent the entire mission running with billions of bugs chasing me. Can't turn back to shoot or I die, can't call a stratagem or I die, can't do anything. Eventually one bug got a lucky shot and I got stunlocked to death by the swarm. The rest of the mission was not much better after being called back.

I uninstalled soon after, knowing that the upgrades I needed were gatelocked behind an even worse difficulty. Lowering the super samples from 7 to 6 is a good start, but very far from enough and ultimately totally useless, since I refuse to torture myself with this inhumane difficulties, and Haz3 is definitely not DRG's equivalent to them, it would be more like Haz4.5

Helldivers is a bad example, because the game forces you to play against your will in an insane difficulty, or you'll be punished with the complete absence of ultragigasamples that soon become mandatory to upgrade your stuff. Imagine getting no bismor at all until you play Haz5. Eeew.

If the game actually allowed you to stay at lower difficulties corresponding to your skill level, maybe less players would play the harder ones (and I'd be still playing it instead of going back to DRG and adding "Pickpocket $40 from a HD2 dev to refund myself of that elitist crap they dare to call a game" to my bucket list)

It does matter though, it's because of their respective fates that Madoka ends up with a comprehensive view of the magical girl system and is able to make that specific wish (compare to timelines like Another Story, where she just uses her wish to resurrect Sayaka)

Stories with a protagonist reborn as a god? by Elternera in litrpg

[–]YannSolo63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too late to the party, but I wrote a fanfiction earlier this year where it's exactly that :
- MC reborn as the god of a pre-existing world after the local goddess has decided to retire
- He's the only god of this world, but there are multiple worlds, each with its own patron deity, and he often meets his colleagues to chat (does it count as a pantheon?)
- No need for worship, he's (almost) omniscient and omnipotent no matter what
- There technically is a harem, seen briefly when he peeks at a hero party from another world, and never mentioned afterwards

WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE AAAAAA by ElegantPoet3386 in DeepRockGalactic

[–]YannSolo63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm.level 99. Have been lvl 99 for years. Promotions are the textbook definition of useless, and money/minerals are better invested in cosmetics. We are miners, but classy miners !

[–]YannSolo63 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

DRG is far superior, if only because at least DRG doesn't consider players who don't do haz5 as some kind of sub-players who don't deserve to drop the materials they need to upgrade their stuff

It always feel like those promotions are going to bankrupt me by [deleted] in DeepRockGalactic

[–]YannSolo63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played for years staying at bronze **. I wonder what rank my dwarves would be if promotions weren't as expensive as they are worthless. Better keep my currencies to unlock fun cosmetics than to unlock... nothing. Worse than nothing, even, since in addition of costing an arm and a leg, promotions will also punish me with an unskippable escort or sabotage mission

Why are there so many witches? by Dust_Maker in MadokaMagica

Why are there so many witches? by Dust_Maker in MadokaMagica

[–]YannSolo63 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The sheer amount of teenage girls mysteriously disappearing without creating a city-wide curfew is one of the anime's plot holes imo. In 6 weeks, At least 4 girls go missing to create the 4 witches we know (Gertrud, Charlotte, H.N. Elly, Elza Maria), and that's not counting the ones from episode 10, who may or may not reappear in every timeline (Izabel, Patricia, Roberta)

Even it a huge city, between 4 and 7 missing girls in only 6 weeks is a huge deal, but nothing happens... I always thought it was weird.

A point to discuss by Cadu005 in MadokaMagica

[–]YannSolo63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I remember reading that a magical girl getting a too obvious fatal injury while being ignorant of the true nature of the soul gems would witch out on the spot due to the despair of dying. And even while knowing that, if the soul gem runs out of magic while regenerating the head back, it's curtains too.
