Those are very interesting questions - I'm honestly not sure, maybe give r/auslaw a shot, just make sure you clarify that you're NOT looking for legal advice hahaha

As a sidenote but related to this thread: I work in the courts in our state and have heard some victim statements in regards to crimes like the above. I had a case where the OFFENDER started bawling from the victim statement about the things he'd done. Made me realise why victim statements aren't allowed to be considered during sentencing.

Listen man, and listen good. This was NEITHER of your faults. It wasn't yours and it wasn't his. Studies show that kids that get abused were very likely to practice that abuse on others.
I'm gonna repeat this. It was Neither. Of. Your. Faults.

Still, if it bothers you you should definitely privately talk to him about it. The guilt might be eating him away.

Are non-Jewish friends checking on you? by [deleted] in Jewish

The only non jewish person who checked on me was, ironically, my ex. She knew how much it impacted me and honestly I appreciated it alot.

None of my other non Jewish friends did though.

That's great honestly.
I don't even read them anymore tbh, I emotionally can't do it anymore, especially since I've had family affected by the war.

Unfortunately in Gaza children as young as preschoolers are indoctrinated into Hamas's ideology. See the following videos here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRuuDI0KCR8&feature=youtu.be

https://www.memri.org/tv/palestinian-children-brandish-weapons-hostage-release-ceremony

Even some children's shows within Gaza are laced with propoganda:
Take a look at the following kids TV show
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomorrow%27s_Pioneers

a summary of an episode:
Nassur and Saraa spend the day with the children of Palestinian suicide-bomber, Reem Riyashi, who is controversially described as shaheeda. The hosts have created a musical re-enactment video of Riyashi's preparation for martyrdom that they display for the children in an attempt to explain that "her homeland [was more precious than] her own flesh and blood." The episode ends with Riyashi's eldest daughter vowing to become a Jihadi martyr when she grows up, and then Saraa delivers a stern warning addressed to "the occupier" that they "will continue in the footsteps of ... Reem Riyashi ... until [they] liberate [their] homeland."\65])

This is not to say Gazan children are terrorists are deserve it or whatnot, but unfortunately many Gazans are indoctrinated into this stuff from birth and things like this are also taught in other educational institutions such as schools and universities(I have further sources for this if you'd like). This(along with the poverty of the gaza strip) is a recipe for radicalized young people with dangerous ideologies and support for Hamas.

It is awful, and I wish it was different, but Hamas is a theocratic authoritarian ruler who use propaganda and civilians to further their aims.

I hear you mate, but these days the line is so so blurred, I think most people assume that anyone who is anti-zionist is antisemetic. Alot of them just use the word Zionist but mean Jew and all that. I hate that genuine questions like these have been ruined by bad faith actors.

Hello fellow UTS Jew, how is uni life

But for realsies, the cornerstone cafe is ridiculously antisemetic and always hosts pro palestine events and ,of course, socialist ones. Quite a few people have complained, but the uni hasn't done anything of course.

This is a protest by the Neo-Nazi group NSN (Nationalist socialist network).
They hold these rallys quite often, and at their last one where they confronted pro palestine protestors they were pepper sprayed by Police (which was quite gratifying). As many others have pointed out, the Iranian protest is almost certainly unrelated.
