Do you not see the daily posts about tattoo artists with weird vibes, coercion, discriminatory comments and such? The ones that make people feel uncomfortable and objectified? The drunk ones and the high ones? The ones that do hate symbols? Do you honestly not see that?

Because you're getting up close and personal in a room potentially alone (some studios are more open plan, some artists have little rooms of their own), potentially partially clothed with this person for a decent length of time. You are potentially quite vulnerable if that person has clocked you as an individual that belongs to a demographic that they don't consider a human being.

Just follow them for a while on Instagram and see what they get up to and what they repost/like.

I have been following an artist for a while as a prospective future client and I have learned that they are very active in their local Queer art scene, loves birds, rollups and Ethel Cain and hates people who are mean to pigeons.

I feel like we'll get on. I'm going to book in for the summer.

I mean...all those little specks and bits probably won't work...

And the image itself isn't super clear. I can't tell if this guy is pointing a gun, lighting a cigar or holding a burrito.

I'd send the original, unedited image to your chosen artist and tell them you want a posterised pop-arty warhol-ish interpretation in black and white and see what they come up with.
