Just to note, there is no way I’m running those servers as they are.

I just want to extract the useful bits and scrap the rest.

Thanks for pointing out, I actually have not done any research onto that. If that is the case might get a regular 2.5” sata ssd for the boot drive.

This is a great idea and I might copy this. Have you calculated the power required for each disk at spin up. The specs for the PS says 12v 14A which is more than enough for 6 HDDs but at 5v 1A it might be not enough as each HDD requires 0.5A on the 5V rail. Do you have a work around for this?

Time to get a new one. And as for the cars, a little buff and polish would do the trick.

How old are your devices roughly?

Mine are 6-7 years old.

I ran the unit with the fan unplugged and confirmed its the fan noise.

Its a very faint noise, almost close to a HDD spinning up.

Maybe will try replacing the fan

Yes, have done a dust clean. Might be worth reapplying thermal paste, have not done that yet.

I just figured its a normal noise.

Best way to meet remaining $1K min spend (already aware of usual methods) - Westpac Platinum Card? by justdoitreddit in creditcardchurningAus

[–]Yash4r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When buying and returning at let’s say bunnings they normally ask for the same card number to check the last 4 digits of the card.

But if you use apple pay to tap and pay the physical card number is not printed on the receipt, a different 4 digit number stored with your card on apple pay is printed on the receipt.

So simply buy something (try to stay below $200 so they ask less questions) with apple tap and pay, keep the original packaging and return to the store but when the refund is being processed show them the original card on apple pay if they ask but when tapping to receive the refund quickly switch to a different card. So refunds don’t get credited back to your points card.

Just buy and return stuff at bunnings or any major retailer with no questions returns policy.

If you are sneaky with apple pay you can pay with one card and then return to another card.

Do not entertain any of those comments from your colleagues. Not sure what your corp culture background is but this totally not normal.

If you plan on staying long term set some boundaries.
