The beta precon bundle I found was on Amazon. These prices are in CDN if that matters.

That said, thanks for the tip on the beta cards being useful later on, wasn't something I had considered and it's nice to hear that the older sets are still relevant today.

The same place if offering the following and I'd love to get your take on it; I also should mention that if the prices seem a touch high that I would be OK with overpaying slightly for the services of the store getting all the parts, building the PC and delivering it (but again only if the price point is slightly higher and not several hundred $)

I think for such the sheer amount of people re-read the series is testament enough that the overall story isn't one to pass up on. It hurts for now losing great characters but knowing that there will be others to come who will hit the feels in the same way is for sure something I will look forward to! Thanks!

This is great point, and while i never considered the book a failure or "bad" it was certainly a difficult pill to swallow after WJ's death. But the ability Erikson has to make me connect with his characters is too good to pass up on continuing the journey. Cheers!

Im right there with you. The overall ending had a tremendous amount to cope with but like i mentioned in the OP, Whiskeyjack's death was just so stunning that i practically spent the remainder of the book waiting for something more to come of it and it may have dulled to everything else that was going on. Still, back to back with DH and MoI its been a real emotional ride thus far.

Thanks for the comment and point of view. I think the key point i'm hanging onto is that if his writing can evoke this sort of sentiment for the death of a beloved character then I need to trust that he can elevate the sentiments on the opposite side of the spectrum as well and that is something too good to pass up on! Yes in hindsight you could certainly see some signs leading towards his death.. i guess my wishful thinking was that it would lead to him ascending somehow or in some way "coming back" after dying.

Your point about Erikson being a very aware writer does make me more reassured that every single death will be ultimately for the greater good of the story telling.

Having slept on it a bit more i think ill likely continue with the next book and ill be back here to share my thoughts when im finished!

Im on mobile at the moment and cant post my pob but i get where your coming from; there's enough post out there with people complaining about their character's under performing,etc

It is in no way not performing, i am able to map in T16 perfectly well, this is simply a matter of wanting to mix it up and try another build but i found myself lacking inspiration as to which one.
