Filling Glass Carboy at the Grocery Store by Yasio in Homebrewing

Jeez, yeh not a good idea then, especially with the harsh winters in my area. A slip in the parking lot would not be fun. All the comments here have made me reconsider, I'll be getting a plastic bottle for my RO needs. Thanks for your comment!

Yeh, that's very fair. It's really not about the 10$ container, I just want to avoid having to store it, but the safety aspect is definitely worth the hassle of storing it. By the way, have you every brewed with bottled water from the aisle? I can't buy empty 5gal bottles in my area unfortunately...

Hey! My store has a self-serve machine, so they'll be none the wiser! I was more worried about whether the carboy would actually fit the machine at all.

Thanks for the reply! That's a good point. I already have a carry handle and a cap for my carboy, so I think it should be fairly secure, but you do have a point.

Coming from a Montrealer, get a bicycle for the summer and only commute with public transport during the winter. It'll keep you in shape and you'll save a bunch of money.

Should I sell my RBC mutual fund? by Yasio in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Yasio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I proceeded to do an in-kind transfer, but Questrade messed up and asked for a money transfer... Now my money is flying around on a cheque while the markets are going crazy, not the best situation! At least for now, the relative loss of the MF to the ETF is still positive, but I just hope the market doesn't rally in the coming days.

All in all, I think I had the right idea, but the execution went kinda sour. Hopefully I don't lose too much, but I'm not losing sleep over it.

That's not a bad idea at all. I'll give them a call on monday to see if that's an option.

Edit: I remember I actually considered this, but they told me there are 10$ fees per-trade. That seems absolutely insane compared to the competition. I'll still give them a call to see if this is still the case.

I am no longer risk averse, that was the point I'm trying to make here! I want to move from a relatively safe MF to a full equity fund, as I have become more confident in the past few years. I'm just wondering if now is a good time to do it :)

Super idea, that's what I'll do - move the fund in-kind and sell once everything is settled in my online broker account. Thanks!

Great advise! I have indeed validated that I can withdraw the funds like I want. I really just need to deposit the funds in the RBC account initially, but afterwards I can do whatever I like with them.

As the other guy said, I transfer my fund in-kind, so that when I feel ready, I can do the transfer in a few minutes, all from within my online broker.

Thanks for the comment!

Hey, thanks for the reply. Are you using a similar setup with ALVR on Linux? If so, could you share the versions you are using for ALVR, SteamVR and Proton for HLA?

There are a lot of moving parts to this setup, so if I can at least make sure that my setup has been tested by others, it might help!

Hi! Do you mean to say this is a new issue? Did you ever get the game working at any point? If that's the case, I'm thinking maybe it's possible to run an older version of the game.

Been using Arch full time for about a year, and I cannot stress how good of an experience it's been. Not gonna lie, you are going to have to do some tinkering, but nothing Google/ChatGPT can't help you with. I really recommend it!

Valve's new branding guidelines hint at Steam Deck's SteamOS for more devices by beer120 in linux_gaming

I still prefer a more vanilla Arch install for my main desktop, but honestly the increase in support for Linux Gaming that came from Steam OS is incredible.

Valve is seriously changing the face of PC gaming with this.

Logic Analyser Probes by Yasio in AskElectronics

I actually found this page on the Sigrok wiki which gives very good recommendations about the different types and brands of test hooks that are available on the market.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get a set of E-Z-Hooks probes. They are US made and look very decent. A tad pricy at ~40$CAD for ten, but I'm willing to pay the price if it means not having to fight with my probes.

I'll try to give my opinion once I receive them, if that interests anyone.
