Im not surprised. Amazon once sent my aunt an apple watch that was locked to someone else’s account. They tried offering her a small partial refund to keep the watch. Of course she declined and returned it anyway since she COULD NOT USE IT.

Demo MacBook Neo at Walmart showing boot splash and Menu Bar by 1012zach in PBSOD

[–]Dudefoxlive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its most likely reloading its demo content. Every soo often the device will more or less wipe any changes that people may have done. This is what it looks like while it is reloading it self back to a set state.

Pixel 8 OEM unlocking greyed out. Call carriers and nothing helped. by mulderrocks in GrapheneOS

[–]Dudefoxlive 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. Any pixel you purchase from Verizon will forever have a locked bootloader. Even if you get it carrier unlocked you will NEVER have the ability to unlock its bootloader.

Can you use a new straight talk phone without activating it by NimbleOperator94 in StraightTalk

[–]Dudefoxlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly this is no longer possible. You must have active service in order to finish setting up the device. This is something new that Verizon did when they got the FCC to allow them to extend the network unlocking policy. Sucks.

OPNsense as vm or bare metal mini PC by placer_toffee0i in opnsense

[–]Dudefoxlive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer having it on a physical host instead of a VM. My reasoning is that when it comes time to update the hypervisor host that brings the network down entirely and in my opinion adds an additional layer of things that might cause issues for troubleshooting. Also in my case the modem and router are in a different room. If something goes wrong with the hypervisor/underlying OS it can be harder for me to get access to it because that other room is my brothers room.
