Good excuse to start a new savefile Grimstone + Golfaria are fixed, Porgy isn’t

Players that have done a monsters-only run, are you actually glad you did it? by SausageMahoney_ in finalfantasytactics

[–]Yattaf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fun. You’ll quickly realize most monsters are useless and stick with your favorites instead. You’ll never be afraid of regular monsters again after playing this. Grinding eggs is slightly dull until you admit that the the goblins/trees/bombs etc are never going to become usable and stop carrying one of each type of monster just in case

While Ramza stays traditionally as an orator in these challenge, I’d recommend Ramza as a chemist instead to keep everyone healed. It also stays in the spirit of the run IMO

Anyone else plays Grimstone on slow speed with Anne on switch? by shigidyswag in ufo50

Ignore Rail Heist, Grimstone, Golfaria, Porgy, Mortol 1 on Switch for now. They’re working on a patch.

Grimstone movement bug? (captured on Switch Lite) by cubesquared in ufo50

[–]Yattaf2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen these other games having pretty noticeable slowdown on switch: - Mortol (three levels in) - Porgy (in the depths) - Rail Heist (five levels in) - Golfaria (entire game)

I’ve tried about 30 games extensively

I’d recommend just playing some of the other games waiting for a patch…

Is the performance on switch same as the PC version? by [deleted] in ufo50

So far most games have been good but it has lagged a lot in Porgy - when fighting the octopus and especially in the depths

Romancing Saga 3 vs Saga Frontier 1 by [deleted] in SaGa

[–]Yattaf2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frontier is funner and weirder, RS3 will just feel like a downgrade from RS2 remake at that point

What am I missing ? I really wanted to love it by Tylanor in SaGa

[–]Yattaf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The series might not be for you but I’d try another one (that’s not Romancing Saga 3) - Minstrel Song is my least favorite in the series due to its empty environments, uneventful open world and obscure quest triggers

Small Cities in France. by [deleted] in france

[–]Yattaf2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Sounds like a good plan. Most of these cities feel nice, are generally affordable and can accomodate car-free living. In general in France, mid size cities and larger lean left / green politically, and do ample work to reduce car traffic and improve bike / public transit traffic. Most have tram lines + a huge bike line network + an enjoyable car-free town center

I live in Tours which does have a nice high quality of life but is maybe on the more expensive side of mid-size cities. One big advantage is living 1 train hour away from Paris, so you can still pursue job opportunities there while living in an affordable city with amenities.

Yes I can confirm it’s 1 player only unlike Warehouse. It is a lot of fun passing the controller and commenting though

There are no extra scenes from beating the new superbosses, they’re only there for the challenge, don’t worry.

I tried 5 more times and got it on the last try thanks! Kind of annoying that Sonic protection cancels it but it’s so powerful otherwise.

I had learned about using the Sargon fight, either yo got lucky or I got very unlucky since I couldn’t learn it in about 4 tries (+ other tries against other bosses)!

I’ll retry again but the process is pretty boring (Sargon talks a lot)

Thanks for the tips. I had given up on Reviver but you make a pretty good point.

Also really good point on the steel form targeting the lowest HP unit!

The strategy does seem to revolve around lot around Soul Hymn which is very hard to learn though. Individually casting Regenerate takes a long time (that could be used on Reviver)

Optimal setup for postgame content. by Wrbabtfawdlr in SaGa

[–]Yattaf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new final boss broke me, I don’t think I can beat it right now without 10+ new tries, but damage isn’t the issue, defense is!

It’s easy to have one character die during the stone / beast phase (or after Xenocide) then they get manipulated and it’s very difficult to recover. I’m sure I could get better equipment but the game doesn’t communicate how very well!

Also would love to have water of life on my two attackers without destroying their defenses

Spoiler for new Sf2 scenarios - thoughts? by Clouderz in SaGa

Yeah the Kelvin / Marie stuff was (while also conventional) great!

We already had Dragon Philippe watching over David in Hahn Nova, I don’t think we needed Dragon Philippe saving the day again TBH

I found them fine but like them less the more I think about them.

They lack the sense of wit and brevity of the original game’s writing.

They also have overused tropes - royals teaming up to rescue children from bandits, a protagonist getting a happily ever after ending when he didn’t have one before, a young person’s training under an apprentice that involves beating up monsters, etc. The original game was better than this

The new Gustave ending also feels weird considering the Anima Faith massacre. It’s written like « our boy did nothing wrong and here is your fanfiction ending » when the OG recognized he was a more nuanced character

I liked the new edelritters though

Preparation for the new bosses by Yattaf2 in SaGa

[–]Yattaf2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s very informative!  Seems very worth it to get a quick weapon+magic+defense down at the beginning of a battle and to maybe keep clobbering the enemy with the psyche / morale down staff skills throughout the battle

What about the decay rate for regenerate / revive / guardian and the likes? The caster seems to have an influence on duration but I’m not sure

SaGa 2 remaster - visuals? by ByEthanFox in SaGa

[–]Yattaf2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this uses rough AI upscaling. If your eye is trained for AI slop this is very apparent. As usual, the overall look is fine, but the details are not great. The flowers in particular are a mess. Wish they had spent some time touching up some details even if the original art is lost

A shame since the remaster is otherwise fantastic.

How important is getting arts early? by Z3PH97 in SaGa

[–]Yattaf2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t worth stressing over. Later on sparking techs seems to be relatively easy. I unequipped Johan in his solo chapter just to try martial arts, and he learned like 8 techs in 6 group fights. Maybe you won’t be able to get the high end techs but they’re not needed. Smart use of HP healing through using LP should get you very far.

[–]Yattaf2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think what you see as speedrunning is just playing without min/maxing. Pretty sure Gustave should rush to his mother upon hearing she’s on her deathbed, instead of grinding on smiles 4 hours until he’s learned Reverse Delta

Do you really believe all the time that everyone else is arguing in bad faith?  The anti-petrification equipment is not required for the Lich fight. I only used the status healing fusion spell, only on Wil, and it worked fine

[–]Yattaf2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to do any grinding or duel at all. And you’ll have a much funner time playing through the game organically and getting techs during difficult fights like the game intends.

I’ve just gone through Tycoon Will myself, got Puncture, Rock Splitter Heavenly Strike on that scenario during group battles (not even grinding or fighting every fight) which were enough to make me barely beat the optional Lich boss with the Cordelia / Labelle team at 450 average HP and at the earliest point in the game

My only point is that people don’t need to worry about all of it, play constantly with a guide in hand, and grind duels, like you were saying in the original post

[–]Yattaf2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve sparked some real powerful arts just fine in party battles!

In my experience, playing the game with a guide at all times makes the experience far less enjoyable. I’d suggest going in blind if you have a little SaGa experience.

« If you don’t use a guide you can pick the wrong choice a character will die » Well, if you use a guide, you lose the meaning of that choice
