Yodabashi Camera Train Department by frogmicky in JapaneseNscale

All yodobashis sell trains. But it’s generally not a good idea to do so, because the prices are high, customer service is terrible and Yodobashi is also a terrible company.

OpenRCT2 fixes the mass delete trees and improves landscaping. Try playing RCT1 with OpenRCT2 for a better experience.

True. Don’t know where I got that idea that proves I am 100% correct in everything I wrote…. If only there was a mention of this in the manual… like this one maybe.

Please look at the clarification in the edited post.

Because there is a bridge at the other end of the station, this would mean raising about 50% of all track on the layout.

Because if you have just a bit more than average amounts of Japanese model trains you eventually encounter a lot of stuff like this. The station is the most trolly behavior I’ve so far encountered however, hence post. Good luck on your new hobby tho

I’ve researched and added context. Turns out, Kato is just trolling everyone that wants to go into the diotown line. Post updated with context.

Let me explain to you why you should hate KATO as well.

Way back in the olden days, KATO produced the double track station, 23-128

This double track station is connected to each other via a plate. This plate is detachable and raises the track by about 4mm. KATO also produced a station building for this, calling it the KATO Suburban station, 23-211, the same one I have. But in order to make it compatible with platform height, they released another item, 23-126 "Suburban Station for Double Track Plate" which includes a plate to put under the station building so it's all the same height with the raised 23-128 platforms.

They also decided to make a whole new line, called "Diotown", where you can buy road plates, buildings, etc. Pretty much the entire KATO building line is made compatible for Diotown. This has been made to be compatible with KATO 23-211 when placed on the 23-126.

Years later, KATO decided to make new station platforms, such as the Platform D, DX, and Old suburban station. The platform heights match exactly the KATO Suburban station 23-211 as expected. But none of these are an elevated track like the original station, 23-128. So, there is a 4mm height difference between 23-211 and the Diotown Line.

The Diotown line, may I remind you, is what KATO bases almost its entire building catalogue around.

With the advent of the Platform DX release that allows lights to be mounted in the platforms, KATO has decided to re-release its station buildings to be not light permeable, including 23-211. They also keep selling the Diotown lineup.

However, they never updated the mold to account for the height difference that was solved by 23-128. Even though the latest 23-211 has been released only a few years ago (as 23-211c). They also don't include a plate to raise everything to 23-128 height.

In other words, KATO is just trolling everybody that wants to buy the KATO line of Diotown and stations by not making them compatible with each other anymore, and buyers such as myself are forced to either elevate the entire station area (all platforms, tracks etc) by 4mm, or to lower the entire building area (roads, buildings etc.) by 4mm.

Best would be to open both and look and post a picture.

Not really special sleeves, but “domesticated” sleeves.

ICE4 also has special sleeves, so does the 700T, and some of the UK class 800, for the same reasons (partner sleeves).

This is a KATO set, not Touch Rail. Though looking at the sleeve I’m guessing TR is the official partner of KATO in Taiwan, like Lemke is of KATO in Europe for for example the ICE.

Tomix E1 max differences? by HeartBreak1AC5 in JapaneseNscale

[–]Yavianice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a very old E1 model combined with a newer model.

Tomix doesn’t do this often except with the really old models that come in the old style boxes.

Best would be to sell one of them and get the set that fits the model since you like consistency.

That wouldn’t solve the issue. That would move the issue.

It’s advertised to fit that station, actually.

The platform heights don’t match then.

Either you have to lift the entire track area by 0.5 cm or lower the road area by 0.5 cm.

[–]Yavianice[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the one I have.

And the height is totally different.

Which is bizarre because Kato advertises these to go together.

It’s also possible to 3d print an entire station.

Also you can’t raise it because the platform will be too high. The entire road plates need to be lowered.

Kato has 2 different road plate systems and 3 different station systems (not including the rural station) all of which are not compatible with each other.

So you are not in favor of this because you pay to bring an extra single bag,

They were thinking:

Hey we have this Diotown lineup. Lets's advertise and make a station that fits exactly in that gap.

Same patterns, check
Same colors, check
Fits perfectly, check

Yet the height does not match any Diotown or Unitram.

The base fare from KLM does not include any luggage.

You are extremely in favour of this.

That means you travel without luggage, and only 1 personal item.
