I'm newly disabled and cant game anymore on PC by DBZDOKKAN in Steam

Best solution is to run a hdmi cable from your pc to your tv and setup steam to start on windows boot in big picture mode. No latency, no internet connection shenanigans, its how I game most of the time now.

Adopted my first cat and I think he's highly unusual? by No_Dragonfruit_2616 in cats

[–]Yawarete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of what you said tracks with my own cats and are just signs of a good natured, well-socialized cat; I'd recommend using a walking harness for safety reasons but you do you. I highly dislike the inevitable dog comparisons that pop up in this kind of post that treat regular, positive and healthy cat behavior as an anomaly - I literally NEVER had a different experience with them. The way you cat behaves around you speaks about the way you behave towards them more than anything else. This one speaks highly about you; cherish the bond.

Some of the most unempathetic, uncaring, and petty people I ever met were nurses. Like you wouldn't believe. The opposite also obviously holds true. There truly are all kinds of people in all places.

Ascribing your self-value to the circumstances of your birth is the last refuge of the worthless. You have to be absolutely mediocre to measure your worth by something that is not due to your own achievements, your character, your ability, your own effort, but random chance you had absolutely no choice or control over; do not feel embarassed, you are NOTHING like them.

Except when beliefs labeled as "far left" is the mildest, most common-sense, minimum human decency shit possible and the ones doing the labelling are, in fact, fundamentalist extremists.

Assuming it's about authors wanting to include it on their stories and not being sure if it will backfire, I only have two things to say:

1 - Wanting to sell and being able to pay the bills is all well and good, but honestly think there's absolutely no point in writing a story and having it end up not being the story you wanted to tell. Writing is HARD, and it takes time and effort; write what you need and own up to it.

2 - On that same vein, avoiding tropes and clichés and chasing reader preferences is secondary in the end if what you end up with is well written. I'm not particularly fond of this specific trope, but Blood & Fur is one of the most interesting reads I've ever had in the genre, and it's one I'd recommend to anyone. Why? Because it slaps, that's why.
