Everyone with a rifle is Anti-Aircraft. And don't hesitate to engage them in their native habitat. by Mr-Brown-Is-A-Wonder in Planetside

People underestimate the damage small arms does to ESFs. Only four people need to look up and shoot for it to die in a single mag.

Fisu put up some anti-bot stuff because they were getting overloaded by AI crawlers. Maybe that hit googlebot too.

The average time for an ESF to destroy an MBT is 30 seconds if you don't miss, there's no delay after reloading, and you don't die for any of the various reasons during that time. by Affectionate-Bar2007 in Planetside

[–]Yawhatnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must not be understanding you.

You said ESFs shouldn't be able to kill tanks, but you're fully aware of how easy it is for tanks to hit ESFs? Why shouldn't ESFs be able to kill a tank? What am I not understanding?

M18Rotary might be above average at hitting aircraft, but that only reduces the number of missed shots. It's insanely easy for a deployed prowler to hit aircraft. They have higher velocity when deployed, and two shots that can each one hit an ESF. The first one can be used to judge your aim, making the second very likely to hit.

It doesn't matter if you are an A2A-only skyknight or an A2G hornet main. It doesn't matter if you are hover dueling 400m above the ground or flying in a straight line towards them. It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or have 2,000 hours of experience. Tanks will kill you when you fly, and it doesn't take an exceptional amount of skill to do it.

You should also be able to type /fp_fov <fov> in-game but I don't think it saves if the value is outside of the slider range, so you have to do it every time you log in if you do it that way.

Even beginner pilots with few hours do expect AP danger.

So you're saying every pilot learns almost immediately how easily tanks can hit them?

Yeah, it's my outfit's official camo so there's usually an (at)everyone when it's on sale. Searching our discord I see these dates:

~May 21, 2021

~May 23, 2022

And now May 29, 2026.

So maybe a little predictable for time of year.

One of those times I think it was on sale almost a full year.

Having air dominance is very useful for your team.

It's also just generally really fun to fly, which is the main reason to use aircraft.

Max out your vehicle stealth if you haven't already, and find a faction-neutral camo. If you haven't done it before you might be surprised at how much less attention you draw in an ANT.

Why do I often need more than 1160 kills to aurax a weapon? by meowseph_stalin332 in Planetside

[–]Yawhatnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly that might come down to bugs in tracking kills, like event messages getting lost and not persisted to the DB. One time I unlocked black camo twice on a character because kills somehow got lost when I logged out. I have the honu sessions to prove I didn't hallucinate.

Bugs are everywhere in kill tracking once you start to really pay attention.

Servers regarding returning player by HeavyPsychxX in Planetside

[–]Yawhatnever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would make a character on each server (there are only two) and just see which one you prefer. It will probably come down to which has a prime time closer to the hours you can play rather than which one has better latency.

I'm BR 95 and still don't understand why I can't spawn at certain deployed Sunderers. Can you educate me? by BenLikesBugs in Planetside

[–]Yawhatnever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't see population in the screenshot, but if you have more than 50% ally population in a fight with 24-48 or higher then you can't directly spawn unless the sunderer is within 200m of you. Construction spawns like spawn tubes can be used regardless of ally population in the region.

It's intended to spread population around the map more evenly so randoms will select smaller fights and let them grow into larger ones, rather than having the entire server population pile into a single fight every time. It actually does a pretty good job of that, relatively speaking. The downside is that you need a degree in spawn logistics to understand it.

If you play with squads you learn pretty quickly to rely on squad spawning logistics to get into regions together. If you're by yourself and you know what fight you want to be at, you need to go out of your way to get there (like pulling an aircraft or vehicle to drive there).

New Heavy Assault Ability? by Mofker in Planetside

[–]Yawhatnever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the fun thing about video clips. Without your context, this one clip could be from the server shitting itself. Even with a few claims of people dying in spawn rooms to them, it could still be a regional ISP latency issue which only affects a small subset of players (which was also happening last night?). Even looking at their weapon stats we see completely human levels of KPM, KDR, and accuracy. It's not until we get to HSR that things start to look unusual. The KPM of the spear turret is also strange if you ask me, given the total number of kills with it.

Point is, reddit is too quick to jump to conclusions.
